  1. Cheers Black-zed. I will take a look, does the system involve a Dim-Dip control unit also do you know?
  2. Becoming a bit of a mission now. I have swapped what I believe to be the controlling relay with another but to no avail. Where else should I start looking? Could it be a fuse? or something more involved?
  3. My limited knowledge has led me to the fuse box in the engine bay. I think the relay in question is the bottom one, black in colour. Can anyone confirm?
  4. Cheers Joel :thumbup1: I shall get the manual out. :detective:
  5. Well, after several attempts to replicate the projector lights illuminating at the same time as the side lights, I could not repeat the effect. I don't think it is an automatic feature, I think I must have a permanent fault that decided to rectify itself just for today. Where would I start looking? relays? or something a bit more involved? Although it is not a major issue, I would like to resolve/understand what the problem is. I hate it when things don't work as they should.
  6. Thanks Joel, This is the first time I have ever noticed this happen. I guess if I try this in bright daylight and then in a darkened garage, I should be able to replicate the scenario.
  7. Never noticed this before, but when driving to work this morning with side lights on only, the projector lights were on! By the time I arrived at work they had gone off leaving only the side lights eluminated. Normally, as I understand it, they would only activate on the second position of the switch and when on low beam. Does this setup have daylight detection? (say via the sun load sensor?) Or do I have an electrical gremlin? Confused.
  8. I do hope so, I would like to book my car in with him in the not too distant future.
  9. Nice job Andrew. :thumbup1: I would not mind doing this myself. Is the vent still readily available?
  10. Does that mean you will have to re set your membership status? Zero rep status, zero posts and rep power?
  11. Still running S1 after 133,000 miles. No problems to date. Touch wood. I think they may be vulnerable if they over heat due to the viscous fan failing. Just a theory mind.
  12. I'm with you in spirit Gary.
  13. Thanks Twin Turbo, Very reasuring breakdown of the conditions that call upon the fan to opperate. Sounds like mine was only doing what it should do. Cheers. :thumbup1:
  14. Thanks Richard. Sounds good to me. :thumbup1:
  15. Cheers ZXTT, As you say, maybe mine was just passed the temperature threshold, it was exceptional conditions, and I was in slow traffic a lot of my journey.
  16. Thanks Stephen, I wish I had connected DataScan and checked the temperature readings. I will next time. There did seem to be a connection with the aircon though. I think if I ran auto, the fan would run. if I ran in "eco" setting or "off" setting the fan would stop. Well I think that was the combination. I can't remeber exactly as I was keen to park up and cool her down.
  17. Hi Dan, I am hoping it is just a one off situation also, I will keep an eye/ear out for it during the next few days.
  18. Hi Gary, Just checked the water level and all is good. I am running with the original expansion setup and the pressure is good also.
  19. Not as yet Gary. I will be checking it tonight when I get in from work. I will let you know what I find.
  20. Normally my car performs perfectly in the warm weather. Never misses a beat and the viscous fan works as it should. Temperature gauge sits at just under half way and ticks over at 750rpm However, after a short casual trip yesturday, I pulled on to my drive and heard the auxillary fan cut in. Never done this before, so came as a supprise. Should I be concerned? or is this a natural occurance due to the exceptional weather? It seemed to be working in relationship to the climate control, but I am unsure as to ecxactly how this is supposed to work if I was honest. Any advice greatly appreciated as I am reluctant to drive it.
