  1. Fingers crossed, just got to make sure I fit the wiring to the connector in the right pockets.
  2. Soldered the new fittings prior to assembly, not my best work, but better than nothing I guess. (sorry for the poor pictures, failing light) Also detailed the second connector, came up quite good.
  3. Note to self.. Remember to disconnect the battery when messing with electrics. Oooops, a few sparks and then the frigging alarm went off. Anyway, all 6 done ready for soldering.
  4. Solder it is then.. :thumbup1: Well that's the 3 larger one's done....
  5. One down, 5 to go... Hey Russ, should I add solder? Belt and braces and all that.
  6. Thanks Russ, :thumbup1: Appreciate your guidance and advice mate. I am just about to start stripping back the cables and will take on board your comments. Hopefully I will find good core material without cutting to far back.
  7. Well, with a little patience and gentle persuasion, the corroded connectors are out. Phew! Tad-Dah
  8. I will try and cut back the existing wiring and re fit new individual female spade connectors in the hope of using the original connector block. All I have to do is figure out how to get the old connectors out of the existing block! stubborn or what! Any advise Russ?
  9. Finally, I have found the reason for my intermittent fault with my Dim-Dip lighting. After what has been a painstaking search of the wiring, I tracked the problem down to a corroded connection (what a surprise) to the Dim-Dip unit itself. One wire was barely connected, and fell off when I touched it, and another did not need much encouragement to break off either.
  10. This may be of help.. http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/threads/thanks-everyone.15465/
  11. Mmmm, the plot thickens. Certainly worth checking then?
  12. Had something similar some time back, turned out to be the TPS was set incorrectly. Have you disturbed anything recently?
  13. Thrashed an Audi TT from a standing start at traffic lights.... I know, a bit boy racer, but could not resist. I have to say, I was supprised at just how easy it was....
  14. Having repaired some parts of my inner rear arch, I can only imagine that to replace the whole thing may involve the removal of the outer arch, but having said that, I could not be a 100% certain. Maybe worth acquiring the inner arch and cutting it to replace the corroded section only as opposed to installing the whole thing.
  15. Cheers Jimmer. :thumbup1: Just by luck, I did brush the rad through so as to remove the leaves and bugs etc' so hopefully should be okay.
  16. Thanks for the contact details Jeff, I'll give them a bell. Could only get one decent picture with my feeble camera of the connector I'm afraid, looks similar to a tyre valve inside. Also, thought a picture of the inside of the caps might help.
  17. Cheers Jimmer, can I check the condenser in situ for being clogged as I have now rebuilt the system?
  18. Fortunately the original label is still legible, so just fill to 80% of figures shown?
  19. Thanks Jeff, Very much appreciated, do the pictures below look as though they have already been converted to you? They look very similar to what you describe/pictured. Also, any recommendations as to where to take her for re gas would be very much appreciated... Do the Blue and Red caps just pull off? or are they threaded?
  20. Hi Jeff, my Zed is a 1992 UK TT. About 5/6 years ago I did have it re gassed, at the time it was mentioned that the original gas type was now illegal and that he would need some sort of adapter so as to use the correct refrigerant. Not sure if that was a change of fitments to mine, or an adaptor so as to enable him to connect to my original fitting. What sort of visual connectors should I be looking for? Would it be of help if I were to post pictures so as to determine the connections that are present?
  21. I am contemplating getting my Air Conditioning re gassed, my worry is that it has not been gassed up for over 5 years. I have recently changed most of the O rings in the system, and having looked at the system in general, all appears to be in good shape. One of my main concerns is the oil, will there still be oil in the system? Or will I have to ask for oil to be added at the time of the re gas? The last thing I want to do is have it re gassed, only to find that the system will fail due to lack of lubricant. All advice welcome... Thanks in advance...
