  1. Just discovered this whilst getter the car ready for Coventry! Leaking filler plug for gearbox? or something more sinister? Advice please.
  2. Slow progress today, did manage to get both corners fitted with inter-coolers etc' Just got to get the rads and air con fitted and piped up.
  3. It's a good job I took plenty of photo's, the sequence of re assembly was a bit tricky to say the least. (Thanks Lymon)
  4. Just got to double check all the screws and pipe clamps etc' and that's one side done.
  5. More cleaning and assembly... Fiddly or what!
  6. Cheers mate, love the banter by the way. Made a little more progress this morning, not much mind. Cleaning everything up the best I can takes an age.
  7. Is it finished yet?:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
  8. Love it..:lol::lol: Not yet mate, but I have made a start.
  9. Cheers Andrew, I think I will have my work cut out to make Coventry, I will just have to put the hours in of an evening. Also, almost forgot to show off the central support bracket.
  10. Paint turned up today, so decided to have a go at finish painting the cross member. Not the prettiest of efforts, what with the over spray etc' but hopefully sound enough for another 25 years. I think I will put some time in wiping down most of the over spray once the paint has had chance to dry. I guess I would do things a little different if I was to do this again, but all things considered, I am happy with the end result.
  11. Not much of an update I'm afraid, top coat paint did not turn up! Only managed to shot blast and etch prime the upright support bar.
  12. :tt2: Transformation indeed, so glad I went for a OEM replacement. :thumbup1::thumbup1:
  13. I have an Ology? reminds me of a sit-com from the late 70's. Just for you Russ, missed the beginning of Big Brother, (only joking you understand) and added sealant.:thumbup1: Thought I would cover the spot welds as one or two had small faults.
  14. Cheers mate, I can't believe I've done what I have. Time for a Stella.
  15. Don't worry Russ, that's going on next. Just did not want to put the sealant onto bare metal. (good spot though.) Have been doing some reminiscing whilst the paint dries. From this.... To this...
  16. Anytime Russ. I have done both my rear arches recently, so should be able to offer some advice/pictures etc' for what it is worth.
  17. Cheers mate. I will take you up on the Stella Russ.. :pint: Full steam ahead now. :boat:
  18. It's done boss. Apart from the paint and rebuild that is.
  19. Tad-Dah, that's the welding done. And no fires!
  20. Making some headway now, and looking at the reverse side of my latest welds, penetration is not as good as I hoped. Border line me thinks.
  21. Hopefully, this plug weld is confirmation of penetration on the welds so far. Admittedly it is on an edge, but hopefully representative of the welds I can not see the reverse side of. Hope so.
  22. Thanks Chris. :thumbup1: If I recall, that is how it was from factory also. Just as I thought I was getting the hang of things, top left plug weld exploded during welding! Sh$t myself.
