Specified as fitting all 300zx models 84-95. No specific mention of the door mounting or pillar mounting variants though. Are the belts actually the same just mounted differently? Rich

Shugborough Hall classic car show Sun 11th August
HI folks OK just to finalise everything here First Rendezvous is at Sandbach Services (M6 South between J17 & J16) There are the usual service station facilities here plus you can also get a Mc Breakfast if you like We want to be moving on from here at 8:45am so if you would like to have breakfast make sure you get there earlier Second Rendezvous is The Holiday Inn Acton Court Stafford ST18 9AP which is just off J13 M6 on the A449 towards Stafford (See map below) Here the southbound convoy will meet the northbound posse I have no idea what breqkfast / coffee facilities are here. We should be ready to leave this rendezvous at 9:15am Distance from J13 to Shugborough is 6 miles, given the inevitable queue into the exhibitors etrance we should be on our stand by about 10:15am The show opens at 11am to the public I will distribute the passes on the day (Mods can you leave this number up till the evening than take my number off once folks had a chance to get it) Number removed. Spent hours on the car today - looking forward to a great day and the weather is looking OK too - dry with hazy sunshine or light cloud and maybe some full sun too See you all tomorrow cheers Rich

Aftermarket Seatbelts
I've been giving the Z a good interior clean and polish today ready for Sundays show and I've decided my seatbelts are. well. a bit boring to be honest Any suggestions on something that looks much more interesting, preferably in Red or with a Red edging! Mine are the door mounting type and the two point rear seatbelts that just fit across your lap Rich

Water inside my bootlid
There are gaps in the metalwork behind the perspex strip, as well as the bolt holes. Especially around where the brake repeater fits in, and even more so if you have the strip without the built in repeater Rich

Drivers window will not go down
Probably then I should have looked for that old thread, instead of looking for fractured solder joints and posting up the pics when I found them lol I guess it's very hard to find anything useful about these cars that has not already been found  On a positive note though - if all this stuff is already known, why can't we have a repository of useful fixes and acquired knowledge all indexed alphabetically under electrical, brakes, turbos etc etc etc save having to reinvent the wheel..... so to speak Rich
-
Drivers window will not go down
Oh just to mention mine did not have the metal bracket - so I cable tied it to the inner door

Water inside my bootlid
I found a little pool of water in my boot a few days ago as well - after the very heavy rain we had. It was pooled on my targa bag, and near the back of the boot, but probably 6 inches from the back and a foot in from the side I couldn't figure out how it got there either I was wondering if it is possible for rain water to get behind the perspex strip on the hatch, then get into the boot that way??? It hasn't happened since but then we haven't had rain quite so heavy either Rich

Drivers window will not go down
Yes also I can confirm, thumping against the door panel did used to fix the problem of the window not going down, till eventually it got so bad it would harldy work at all Well hopefully no more of these controllers will be in the bin from now on. It's a pretty easy fix if you have a soldering iron and now you know what a fractured solder joint looks like Otherwise anymore of these broken window controllers just give me a shout and I will see what I can do Rich PS - I used a cable tie to fasten mine to the door frame now, and as it does not rattle about inside the door panel anymore it probably will not fail again either

Drivers window will not go down
Guys, I fixed it  As this seems to be a common problem I thought I would share my experience with you Once I got the door panel off (pretty easy, about half a dozen screws/bolts and a couple of clips on the bottom edge I found that large black relay rattling around inside hte door (actually I did have an annoying rattle on the door) Pushing on the connector made no difference, but tipping the relay up on end made it work, as did shaking it about a bit with the window button held down Figuring it was a bad connection somewhere I took it apart It's pretty easy, on the end with the connections the plastic cover clips off with a bit of effort with a small screwdriver (clips on the two shortest sides) Inside it is a PCB with some components and a couple of relays The problem was a broken solder joint on one of the relays (the relay nearest the end of the PCB controls window down and the other one window up) Actually it makes sense that dry/fractured solder joints would be around the heaviest components - ie. the relays Anyway here are a few pics of my control unit, this is the bad joint I found. If you look closely you will see a circular fracture all around the relay leg where it meets the solder pad. I resoldered all the eight relay joints to be sure though. It now works absolutely sweet When you put it all back together the PCB slides into two grooves inside the plastic casing whhich hold it firm, then you push the end cap back on over the connector pins Voila - working drivers window!!

Drivers window will not go down
Is the relay what I can hear clicking behind the door panel? Or is there just an actuator/motor there?
-
Drivers window will not go down
I thought the problem was the switch as if you waggled it a lot it would sometimes work, but unfortunately fittting a replacement did not fix the problem When you push the switch to 'close' you can hear what sounds like a relay click in the door - obviously the window is fully closed already When you push to open you don't hear anyything at all Is there a known common problem that causes for this? I ask as the drivers window on my old Z was temperamental too Rich

25 Years of the Z32
I think this is a party that should not be missed, it really should be the meet of the decade! Count me in to come along and also if I can help in organising in any way I would feel honoured to be involved Top Gear for sure sounds like a good avenue to explore

Shugborough Hall classic car show Sun 11th August
If you are gonna sniff around the hall you should enjoy it! Last time we went they had 'characters' dressed up in period costume around the house - and you can chat with them too but they only understand period conversation Also has a 'working' victorian kitchen where folks in costume are preparing traditional foods and the working farm is also very much worth a look Journey through the historic grounds of the Shugborough Estate in Staffordshire and experience the nation’s best 'upstairs downstairs' experience. Set in 900 acres of stunning parkland and riverside gardens with elegant mansion house, working Victorian servants’ quarters, Georgian farm, dairy & mill and a restored walled garden, which are brought to life by costumed living history characters who share their lives and powerful stories from the past with visitors. Back for 2013 is Shugborough Revisited: Explore Lord Lichfield’s private rooms and hear the stories of one of the nation’s grandest families. Within the stunning parkland you can also explore beautiful gardens, magnificent monuments and wander through the island arboretum garden. The attraction also features a land train ride, play park, restaurant & tea rooms, craft workshops, gift shop and offers a fantastic full day out for everyone. Shugborough Classic Car Show Sunday 11 August 2013 10am-5pm This popular event will feature over 1000 vehicles dating back to the 1920’s with vintage and classic cars, sports cars, American and kit cars, club stands, motorbikes, commercials alongside arena attractions plus the popular auto jumble and trade area. We have a stand in front of the mansion house so bring your cameras guys and girls!
