Folding Mirrors Keep Folding
Hi Guys My Zed is having another of it's temperamental moments, and the old girl seems to throw up some wierd (to me) problems! I did realise I had auto-folding door mirrors as on an odd occasion I have folded the passenger one in and when turning on the ignition it folded out Today I started the car and both mirrors fold in. The passsenger one keeps making a clicking noise and motor keeps whirring If I pull that one slightly further in it clicks again but at least the motor whirring stops I've tried starting the car with both mirros pulled all the way in - and they don't fold out, if I thin push the drivers side one out it keeps wanting to fold in again and the continuous whirring noise comes back on the passenger one (unless I pull it that last bit in) Several restarts later I am now wondering how do I get the damn mirrors to stop folding in all the time? PS paid my subs for this fine site today as it already saved me more money than the subs cost and I believe in being fair (wink wink) does that get me even faster answers too :whistling: Rich

Hissing noise
Thanks for the advice - that fixed it though the clutch is pretty heavy now but it will do for now. Would like to fix this properly if I can come across a second hand replacement part though. Rich

Hissing noise
Cheers for the reply Would you by chance have a photo showing which pipe you mean? I assume if I can blow air down the pipe it has failed, if I can't then that is not the problem. The car is a manual transmission. Rich

Hissing noise
Hi My Zed TT developed a hissing noise - this started suddenly last night after a trip to Birmingham - no prob on the way down, when I restarted the car I got this sound that is just like air blowing from a vent (like you would hear on a plane from the aircon vents) it's especially noticable when the car is ticking over or you let of the throttle on gear change You can't really hear if from under the bonnet - with the car ticking over it sounds like it is coming from under or around the driver side foot well - you can't really hear it from the passenger side Car running OK but seems rather lumpy on tickover now with revs lower than usual. Turn off the engine and the hissing dies away after a sec or two. I won't say 'any ideas' as I am sure someone will know exactly what it is. Rich

Side indicator repeaters - what else fits?
Hi I'm thinking of changing the orange front wing indicator repeaters I've seen the 'smoked' version of the same type for 20 odd quid I've also seen these LED alternatives on ebay which are cheap and they claim will fit Nissan 300 ZX Silver 8-LED Tri Side Repeaters Upgrade And also some ones like that which are Oval And they are only about £9 Does anyone have any other suggestions I may look at that are a bit more 'flashy' than the stock ones, My previous Zed had chrome ones with four horizontal 'bars' and 'Twin Turbo' across the center with a small orange bulb embedded - looked rather like BMW M3 style - but I have no idea where they came from or what they are called as they were already fitted

Hi guys - new here with my second Zed... got a Q about boost
Just as an update I fired her up this morning and the boost controller was working fine, in fact I've run her round quite a bit today and everything worked without a problem Maybe something was just 'stuck' with the car not having run for a while? I haven't dared pressing that scary looking 'scramble' button on the HKS yet though. It was suggested I got used to the car a while (its been a couple years since my last Zed) and make sure I am on a straight road first.... :tongue_smilie:

Hi guys - new here with my second Zed... got a Q about boost
Thanks m8 Like I said without the boost the car runs at least as well as my previous one if not better The fact it can work, even if a bit temperamental makes me also feel there can't be too much wrong. If the damn boost thing hadn't kicked in for a while today I wouldn't have known what I was missing - it drives like A zed should - but now I know the difference I feel compelled to get it working properly

Hi guys - new here with my second Zed... got a Q about boost
HI OK I just got hold of a 300ZX TT This is my second one, I had the first for 30 months until I had a bit of an 'incident' in it :hammer: The other one had a lot of body customisation - this one is more standard but has some engine mods OK so this one has amongst other things an HKS EVC boost controller that were not on my first one, plus some other upgrades I believe. Now when I bought it the guy said the boost controller and dump valves were not working (said his kids had messed with the settings on the HKS box at the weekend while he as valetting the car) Seeing as the car sounded and felt just as good as my first, and seemed if anything to be a bit faster I was happy enough to take the car though he said it 'really missed' the boost and wasn't running anything like when it worked Anyway having got the car 35 miles to home - all fine - I took it out again and now for some reason it was running miles better I can only say the boost and dump valves were working with the fact it was going like a fire breathing monster! And remember I've had a Zed before so I know how these cars normally drive. Also the dump valves must be OK cos you didn't half get a 'whumph' sound when changing up gear OK so I'm belting around really enjoying this - then suddenly no whumph on gear change and the car drives again like my first Zed. Since then It's been a bit intermittent - going between normal Zed fast at times and scary monster fast at others OK so I guess - did his kids mess with the settings (the other guy claims to know nothing about how to set up the HKS) or am I right in thinking that there is some sort of intermittent fault here? The readout thing on the HKS works all the time but I can't really make head nor tail of what it is trying to tell me Either way - I love this HKS when it is working properly, it makes a huge difference. any ideas or is this a job for the pros? dicky
