19" Alloys
These ones seem to keep comng up a lot when I'm looking for 5 spoke 19" that will fit Lenso ES6 in silver or black (£870) and Dare Drift Hiro (£650) I like the Lenso ES6 Black but not sure if that is satin or gloss (looks a bit satin from the pics) The Dare Drift is not to my taste (too plain) Rich

19" Alloys
Hi Vodkashots That Dotz Hanzo five spoke will fit (so I was told) and also comes in a satin silver colour version - would have been my ideal choice if it was in glossy - even though it was not cheap - I like the way the spokes form like a 'Z' shape

19" Alloys
OK I've also been looking for some alloys to replace the 19" Antera ones that are currently on my car (the Antera's were not in the best of condition when I bought it) What I am looking for is some high gloss black/silver ones, as that will fit in well with the colour scheme of the car once it's resprayed I've been down to a couple of local retailers, one was pretty helpful too. Of the limited choice of 19" alloys in gloss black/silver that he says would fit over the calipers were these RS Futura at a bit over £600 (see first pic below) They are rather nice IMHO but I woudn't mind something a bit more dramatic like the DOTZ Hanzo (2nd pic below) but they are in satin black/silver and I wanted glossy (and they were £900!) Does anyone know of anything more like the Hanzo in style (or at least 5 spoke) but glossy black/silver, that would fit. cheers Rich

Lambo style doors
Hmmmm I think I've changed my mind about Lambo doors - especially I don't fancy water dripping everwhere when you open the door in the rain!!
-
anyone find were getting rarer?
Off interest... does anyone know roughly how many 300ZX are left on the road in the UK now (LWB or SWB)? Also what is the rarest model 300ZX Were there any special limited editions or whatever?

Lambo style doors
Does anyone have the vertical lift Lambo style doors on their car? There seem to be a few hinge kits around, I'm assuming the bolt on ones are the best bet (though a bit more expensive) Are there any pitfalls with fitting this type of door that I should be aware of? Basically while my Zed is off the road having a major facelift and full respray I'm trying to end up with a car that is * practical to use on the road as an 'occasional car' - not a daily runabout * not too low to get over the occasional speedhump and pothole * eye catching enough to turn heads. I'm intending to show the car next year, and maybe get the chance to meet some of you guys while I'm at it

personal number plates
If i sent in my V5 that would only say first registered 2003 so now im more confused. It only mentions decld manuf 1992 on the transfer to new owner slip
-
personal number plates
yes it does have a J plate but what would happen if I put it ono an irish plate and then onto another?
-
personal number plates
On my V5 it says (exactly) B. Date of first registration 01/05/2003 [b.1] Date of first registration in the UK 01/05/2003 The only place it mentions the manufacture date at all is on the tear off part 10 of the V5 which I am supposed to give to the new keeper if I sell it - not return to DVLA (New Keepers Details V5C/2) Here it says Date of first registration 01/05/2003 (DECL/D MANUF 1992) One reason I wondered is because in the early 90s I used to own a BMW 320i that was an irish import. On the V5 it said date of manufacture was 1977 but I bought it on an xxx 123Y plate (1982/3) because the date of first/uk registration was after that - 1986 The car already had the Y plate when I bought it.

personal number plates
Not really a zed related question but someone here is bound to know.... My Jap import was (according to the log book) registered in 2003 though it was built in 1992 Date of first registration 05/2003 Date of first registration in the UK 05/2003 Does that mean I can put any plate on the car that I like, up to an xx53xxx registration? Side Indicator Repeaters
Hi all On my prevous Zed I had some aftermarket indicator repeaters They had four chromed metal bars horizontally, and the phrase 'Twin Turbo' on a metal plate across the centre. They looked a bit like the chromed repeaters you see on some recent BMWs or Mercs I've no idea where these came from, has anyone else ever seen this type and know where they can be found? Has anyone here fitted repeaters not meant originally for the Zed (just to have something that looks different) and if so anyone got any recommendations on what may fit well (or even better - pics!) I'm fitting fibreglass wings so can make the mounting hole pretty much any shape/size/location I like as long as there is clearance for the bulb unit Rich

Repairing Sills and sill returns - advice please
Cheers guys I ordered two sill return repair panels from MJP £75 plus VAT each. Anything else that needs patching up gets fabricated. Actually the nearside sill itself is pretty sound and the offside sill needs about 3 inches plating over. It's just the part beween the sills and back wheel arches that are really bad

Repairing Sills and sill returns - advice please
@scubanesh Not disagreeing with you at all as you no doubt know more about this than me. I just got this impression from what I heard that the drains ending up in the sills and filled them with water to make them rot..... was suprised to see they actually ended up in a metal pipe out to the road. Perhaps someone exagerated the issue of sills full of rainwater! But yeah, I will take the advice and re-route them Cheers

Repairing Sills and sill returns - advice please
I heard about the targas draining through pipes into the sills, but having cut away some rot I can see the rubber pipes fit into short metal pipes that then drain through a hole in the bottom of the sill and out of the car. AFAIK this is original, not after market. You can see one of the short metal pipes clearly in the second photo Rich

Repairing Sills and sill returns - advice please
OK my Zed is now off the road and I intend on doing a lot of work on it over the winter months, plus fitting body kit then respraying First problem I have is with the sills returns which are both rotted through. One of the sills (off side) has also gone a little bit where it joins the sill return. Bizarrely the neaside sill is much more solid though it does ot seem to have been previously worked on and is just as old as the offside. The floor pan and 'inner sills' are pretty sound (there is a small-ish hole in the floor pan under the drivers seat but it has lots of solid metal around it so should patch up OK) Other than that the car seems pretty solid underneath and wheel arches etc are sound. Question is - can I buy some repair panels for the sill returns or is it cheaper to fabricate some from sheet metal, the intention is to fit side skirts after repair to 'cover' up any repair work. Iv'e seen the name MJP mentioned in other places but their website says no items in stock for 300ZX body repairs Pics attached (having cut away some of the rot to see just how much solid metal remains)

Crap Headlights
NP I always tend to go for mid range rather than cheap - I've learned from experience that anything brought where the biggest consideration is price, tends to lead to some dissatisfaction Anyway, had been looking at these guys, seem like pretty decent kit http://www.midnightstyling.co.uk/shop/hid-conversion-kits/maximum-55w-hid-conversion-kit but must say that ebay one seems very cheap in comparison. (awkwardly shufflles off to sidelines.... )

Crap Headlights
Ahh yeah just did a bit of reading about that, great thing the internet... So I need the dip lights to stay on when using main beam
-
Crap Headlights
OK I had a look around I take it I need two of these HID kit, as it would be a bit silly with super white dipped beam and yellow/white hi beam? Looks like the 55W ones are not vastly more than the 35W ones. What size bulbs are in the Z? H1, H3, H4-1, H7, H7R, H8, H9, H10, H11, H13-1, D2C, D2R, D2S, HB3/9005, HB4/9006. Come to think of it what are in the front fog lights?
-
Crap Headlights
OK sounds like a possible plan This may be a dumb question, but how do I get the original light units off? I didn't notice any obvious fitting method when I was trying to check if the bulbs were the right type yesterday, but then it was getting a bit dark. Just as an aside, as I am thinking about fitting those fibreglass lights for cosmetic reasons as I am gradually kitting the kar (I already have the 6pot round LED ones for the back, just getting them sprayed now)... does anyone here have those type fitted to a kitted zed and are they any good?
-
Crap Headlights
OK I know from previous experience the dip beam output on the headlights is pretty crap But to be honest the ones on this Zed seem even worse than the ones on my previous Zed. To the point where the car is no fun at all to drive after dark! In fact on a few occassions I would have to say it is downright dangerous. Half the problem seems to be the beam spends much of it's output lighting the bottom part of the light unit itself! I'm in two minds to fit these Front fibreglass headlights that Zcentre have http://www.zcentre.co.uk/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.pbv.tpl&product_id=213&category_id=61&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=7 However is there anything I can consider to get some decent amount of light out of the existing ones? More powerful bulbs? HID kit? Stick a candle to each wing and forget about the lights? I guess this has been discussed on here many times, I did try a forum search but there were too many hits for 'headlights'. So whats the way forward.... does anyone use these zcentre fibreglass lights and are they much much better? Can I stick HID kits in those? Rich

LED rear lights
My previous Zed had these '6 Pot Venom 1 Piece rear LED Lights' fitted and I want to fit the same to my new one - but the '2 piece' ones as I also want to have a go at the illuminated rear panel too Are they purely a zcentre thing, or are there other suppliers of these? Competition hopefully leading to better prices and all that.... ;) Rich

Illuminated centre panel el sheet help wanted
I've been having a look around at this illuminated rear panel malarky on the net It's something I would very much like to do - especially as I intend to get the car sprayed metallic red after kitting it There do seem to be some various options - I found a couple of DIY guides on how to convert a standard rear panel to illuminted (one seemed to involve cooking it 400 degrees for 10 mins to separate the two halves) Also a link to a guy on facebook who makes them and sells them? These original OEM illuminated panels - where do you find them? Second hand hopefully! And the 99 spec rear panel - that looks much like the one already on my Zed but the car was built 92. What's the difference? Basically - to a newbie(ish) what is the best way to go about this? If it is to convert a standard one, anyone got a second hand one for sale so I can break that instead of breaking the one on my car lol Cheers Rich

What a difference!!
Just gotta add to this thread Took my zed down to Jeff (OK I'm lucky enough to be about 60 miles from this place) when I first bought it and for not much more than 40 quid he gave it a good check over, and tuned it up, The difference in performance was really amazing and I can't thank zedworld highly enough for such a difference for so little money A month or two later I took it down the second time and let him keep it for a week - I had zedworld implement all the things they advised the first time round. For me that meant: New rear wheel bearings (the ones on the car were some of the worse worn they had ever seen so he tells me) Front brakes replaced, plus the ABS braking controller (from a good salvaged one) Hand brake badly worn (again fitted me some salvaged rear disc/drums at a very good price) Replaced both front steering arms due to excessive play, as Jeff said the handling of the car was just a little bit frightening. Prapared/Undersealed the car as corrosion was setting in MOT'd the car for me while it was there A selection of odds and ends and silly annoying things I had asked them to look at I won't state the exact price as I am sure they are quoted on an individual basis depending on what was involved, but to my mind it was very very reasonable for the work undertaken and everything was explained to me (and the price) upfront as work progressed My opinion: 11 out of 10 The difference to the road handling- 12 out of 10! Am I happy? damn right I am.... my car goes nowhere else now Rich

Bodykit - How low?
Did I ask this wrong or does no one know? As my Zed has lowered suspension (the original fit front end clears the road by about 8.5cm) I'm a wondering which alternatives I could fit when i add some body kit and still have the car clear speed humps etc Any suggestions? Rich

Bodykit - How low?
Hi I want to fit some custom body kit - however I'm a bit concerned about how low it may be (to the road!) as my Zed is already lowered, with eibach springs fitted So I'm intending to fit front and rear bumper, side skirts and possibly vented wings, rear lights - and change the colour My previous Zed, the one I wrecked lol (must see if I still have some photo's of it) had a lot of custom body kit. Problem was it would pass just about anything but a speed hump. I must have broke the front spoiler about half a dozen times!! Out of interest I do have an old receipt for the kit on the old Zed (I didn't fit it) and have some Zedcentre codes from 2004 - but they seem to have changed all the codes so I can't work out what exactly was on the old one ZC002B (front bumper) ZC013B (side skirts) ZC004B (rear bumper) ZC020A (rear spoiler) ZC 022B (tailgate tub) ZC007B (rear strip) My zed now has an original front bumper and as it has lowered suspension that is just 8 - 9cm from the road surface (hard to measure accurately) however it does go over speed humps (so far!) I'm hoping for some suggestions what would be suitable/unsuitable to fit instead and still have the car drivable. Zedworld did suggest the 99 Spec OEM bumper would be about the same road clearance as the one I have on now. I'm looking for something more curved than angular, think like zenon or viper style... Same question goes for side skirts and rear bumper Cheers Rich
