my shiny new turbos are here
IIRC Markderby has the GTX2863's which are the next size up. I don't know if he has the machined out T25 front housings on his though @Dan Steve from Silverline racing got them for me from the USA

Yep they are those and should be good for 700bhp and very fast spoolers Re supporting mods, as I mentioned on a previous thread Iam, if you like, gonna run a bit of an experiment here Mainly due to finances, these are going on my totally stock engine/SMICs though I do have an aftermarket decat 2.5" SS exhaust and HKS EVC Then I will get it mapped/dyno's phase 2 - will upgrade the intake and exhaust system and remap phase 3 - Steve already has my spare engine for rebuild and then I will upgrade the injectors at the same time and go for a final map That should give some useful data for other owners...... though do expect it to take me a year or so to complete the project, it will not be overnight. Of course I will keep a build thread of the progress Rich

my shiny new turbos are here
Yes that sounds just like what Steve was trying to explain to me. Also I understand the GTX have turbine blades shaped like a 'jet engine' so they can feed a much higher volume of air than a GT of the same size. I'm led to believe these are pretty new on the market and there are not so many (if any?) Zeds with these fitted over here at the moment in this configuration with the machined out front housing which Steve was explaining will make the tubs spool very fast at the expense of a llittle raw horsepower. No doubt he could add some more info to this thread if he's around

or I may have it back to front - it could be the compressor housing which is a special custom one that fits direct to the car without modification! I made a downpayment which covered the expected cost with shipping/tax - but forgot to ask Steve what the final price was. Will ask (doh!) and report back It's approx £2000 - £2500

my shiny new turbos are here
Most of you will know of the problems I have been having with turbos this last few months since I got my engine swapped Having decided to replace with new upgraded turbos, everything is now here and ready for fitting..... special thanks to 111mattin111 for the second hand 5-bolt downpipes at a nice price ;0 So here are my GTX2860R turbos straight from the US of A I'm not an expert on these things, but Steve at Siverline who sourced them for me tells me that the impeller half of the housing is a special custom one quite like the 'stock' Garretts so they fit straight onto the car without any adaptation. This is an option that is available in the US (but not over here apparently) which also means the impeller housing is slightly smaller than normal for the GTX2860, so these turbos will spool faster than normal at the expense of a little top end horsepower - which is more suited to a fast road car and are also easier to fit. I'm looking forward to getting them fitted and having the car mapped Rich

Picture request
£35 from some bulgarian seller on ebay - plus postage of course so came in at £50 I really like this wheel - quite a bit smaller than the original wheel, very comfortable to drive with and the quality is good. I already had a boss as I had a momo wheel before this one They have other colours too. This is the old listing http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/White-Steering-Wheel-NISSAN-Skyline-300zx-200sx-100NX-/400603106022?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5d45ce4ae6

"Do we own a supercar" etc.
This is a fair comment and a worthy one to the discussion My car also turns heads whenever and wherever I drive it I've also had cars alongside with someone hanging out the passengers side taking pics.... so it must be pretty damn super to have that effect :tongue_smilie:

"Do we own a supercar" etc.
All of which seem to have a higher current resale value than the Z32 (apart from possible the XJS which has a wide range of prices but seems more comparable) which in itself may answer the question then Rich
-
"Do we own a supercar" etc.
It says this on the descripton of this forum section..... and I always did want to ask (though no doubt it was asked many years before I owned my first one) So, in actual fact.... Do we own a supercar? Rich

Mass produced cars that are now rare
Actually Rich if you look back on the thread it was me lol Does anyone else remember the Sam Fox adverts in the 80s though? PS I did a google and even these buggers have a owners club!!! (http://www.zastava-yugo.co.uk) though I can't actually get it to load which may say something about the reliability of the cars! To answer a previous question of mine - are there any cars that were so crap that there is no owners club? dicky
-
Mass produced cars that are now rare
OK to add to this fun then.... can anyone find a (once) common place car that does not have an owners club?
-
Mass produced cars that are now rare
Yep only 20 odd Renault Fuego's around, 8 of which are Turbos! They do have an owners club forum though (don't look very busy)

Mass produced cars that are now rare
Hey I think I found an example from the mid 80s! Firstly does anyone remember those ads on the telly for Swithland motors who I think had the dubious honor of being the only Yugo distributor in the country? I think they were only shown in the midlands area - but had Sam Fox in them The cars were advertised with having 'Trendy white paint job' 'spoiler' and 'sun roof'. There was no mention of concepts such as 'safety', 'performance', and 'residual value' In one of the ads the neighbour 'Wally' faints when her hears low the (whispered) price of the car is The catch line 'find out why Wally feinted by going to Swithland motors' In another you were urged to 'Follow the Fox down to Swithland motors' I am sure there were a few more of the adverts too. Anyway does anyone remember those adverts? ... and I just checked on 'how many left' and quite a few of the models appear (The Yugo Zastava 311, 313, 314 and 413) now appear to be completely extinct and some have been for 15 years or more! I believe quite a lot of these reconstituted Fiats assembled in Yugoslavia were sold at the time in the UK so it would class as a mass market car.

There is actually an Allegro owners club! http://www.allegroclubint.org.uk/ Though apparently it started as a joke. http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/local-news/austin-allegro-fan-club-sparked-3407580 Maybe even both members log in at the same time occasionally lol

Mass produced cars that are now rare
I was discussing this with a friend the other day (obviously it was a very quiet moment with nothing much exciting to talk about!! lol) OK so there are very rare cars around, and some of these were because they were one-offs, very small productions runs, or very limited market cars in the first place But out of all these mass produced cars we all remember (depending on your age) from the 60's 70's 80's and even later.... are there any models now that are so rare they are actually extinct (there are none left on the road at all)? Google didn't help much (or perhaps I was searching the wrong terms) I just found rare one-off or supercars. I'm thinking cars which were once a commonplace sight (not like a specific variant of a model like Granada GXL1.6i or some such) but just a specific model We couldn't make up our minds. Rich

Poxy center prop bearing
@Darkside - I assume you are already convinced, but if not then I should mention I also had one of these one piece props fitted by Jeff to my LWB TT and the difference it makes is very impressive.... much smoother than my old one Rich

another problem form the zed... heavy steering
It has been said before, this could be caused by a bad solder joint behind the speedo... as mine also has this as an intermittent problem
-
Zedless for a while
I know what you mean about Luke's Z - I have seen it up close a few times and I love that deep metallic red as well and very nearly went for the same on mine.... then finally opted for the Audi White of course which was my other preferred option You've seen the quality of the respray work done on mine Ian, if you like I will put you in touch with the guy who did it though 'Candy Apple' isn't cheap - as I understand the process, it involves a silver back coat then multiple layers of tinted lacquer to build up the final colour Rich

Bomex Mirrors on ebay
Hi Taff Did you mean you have the same (Ganador)? My Ganador are electrically adjustable so that makes them rare then? Rich
-
Bomex Mirrors on ebay
Well listing ended and someone bought them for £75 Was it someone on here? Rich

Bomex Mirrors on ebay
Then at least I'm not the only one to like them :flowers: They do fold back if something hits them (or you hit something with them!!) but they don't stick out anywhere near as far as the OEM ones anyway, so to me this has never been an issue
-
Bomex Mirrors on ebay
TBH I really do prefer my Ganador ones to the OEM original version (otherwise I wouldn't have paid out £140 to get the rare beasties) I also have a bit of a liking towards these Bomex ones, I notice they now have a bid on them and I will bet that is due to my posting this here (i.e someone likes them but isn't saying) PS I may as well ask, what is the general concensus towards the Ganador mirrors then? Go on, I can handle it because I like them regardless so they are staying..... but am I the only one?

huhh?? no arms? Where's that 'shrug' emoticon when you need one

Bomex Mirrors on ebay
These look unusual, I haven't seen these before.. are they really rare like the guy says or is it just I haven't noticed any before? I have Ganador mirrors on mine which I really like, and are also pretty scarce I believe, but somone may be interested in these I guess... auction ends tomorrow afternoon http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jdm-Bomex-Electric-Aero-Mirrors-300ZX-Fairlady-Z32-SUPER-RARE-/331052752892?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4d14481ffc Rich
