CFDs
I agree with that appraisal Jeff I've spent quite some time looking at this market now and reading some of the CFD forums and sites.. There are certainly brokers to avoid but there are also reputable ones. And quite a lot of part time (amateur) traders add money to their own porsche fund! My thinking of this (or rather our thinking as the wife also agrees and is even keen to learn herself), is now our mortgage and loans are all paid off we do have some capital we could afford to lose, not that anyone likes to lose money but in that I mean we could afford to lose without causing ourselves major financial headaches, and am sure we will take a few steps into this market hoping to generate money for nice things, not needing to generate money to live off. I think anyone taking that approach has a reasonable chance of making significat gains, maybe you would concur? From my own research, every broker you look into you will find some people on some sites saying it is a scam or rippoff. Just like Trip advisor really - if you took everything you read on there as being true then you would never go anyware! However there do seem to be some brokers that have a lot of bad rep and some that have a mixture of opinions. The one I am looking at right now is Capital Spreads which seems to have pretty good rep overall and is regulated by the FSA. They do a two week trial where you can play on the live markets with £10000 of monopoly money for free Another one that has a mixture of folks calling it a scam and others saying it is reputable is IG - they do a similar trial with £2500 of play money So I am pretty much sure we will give this ago, not just yet but last two weeks of May as we have a two week period coming up when our business will be flat (ie dead). I guess also that gives more time for some reasearch :) Still would be interesting to hear form anyone who has done this, apart from the customer of mine up in Liverpool Rich

CFDs
Yes it is but you can use a much smaller amount of capital to generate very significant gains so you can infact leverage deals of 10's of thousands though you in fact only have a few thousand to play with And are there not massive amounts of money (a significant part of the countries weath in fact) made on the stock market? It's something i have been looking into for quite a while and am getting increasingly interested in trying my hand at this - I was rather hoping there may be some with experiance who could share some info as it seems it is something that some folk do in their spare time to generate a bit of extra income to suppliment there wages

CFDs
OK this is nowt to do with Zeds and nowt to do with car ... but this is the off topic area so... I'm getting increasingly interested in CFD trading as a possible way to generate some additional 'fun' money especially seeing as the Zed likes to consume so much of it! One of my customers put me on to this and he makes a good amount from it, spending just a few hours a day Has anyone on here had any experience of CFD trading as a part time 'hobby' (or even as a main income) and if so do you have any useful tips or info? There are lots of companies offering free demos with 'play' money to trade. Are there any good ones (or rogue ones to avoid?). If you try the free demo's does this become 'addictive'? Rich

June Events: Trentham Gardens & The Peak Run
Hi folks OK it may seem a while away yet, but June will be upon us quicker than we think! So I have two completely different meeets lined up for June and nows a good time to start asking who would like to come along and join the fun First up is the Trentham Gardens Classic Car show on Fathers day Sunday 15th of June http://www.classicshowsuk.co.uk/carshoweventsinformation/carshow_date.asp?id=23 We had a great turnout last year with no less than 16 cars exhibiting and it was a really good day out, so if you want to come along this year then get your name on the list. Lets see if we can get even more this year. Cost is £3.50 per car with up to two adults and two kids under 15 --------------------- Second up, and on the following weekend Sunday June 22nd is the 26th Annual Peak Run. This is open to all classic cars and apparently attracts some real 'exotica'. Starting from Belper in Derbyshire between 80 and 100 classic cars head off on a 80 mile drive through the beautiful Derbyshire Peak District and finish at one of Derbyshire's main attractions. There were one of two Zeds on the run last year (or so I am led to believe) but this year let's make a real impact and get a good turnout for what will undoubtably be a brilliant day out. Cost is £10 per car for the peak run. However there are other options for those wanting to make a weekend of it. More info is on the official website http://peakrun.weebly.com/ So here are the lists. Weston Park Classic Car Show this Easter
Interestingly enough there is no mention of how early we can arrive - exhibitors can camp over from the night before or even from good friday (£10 for two nights, £5 for sat night) so I would say we can arrive from 'any time we like' really. Also anyone wanting to exhibit Sunday/Monday can camp for free We must be all set up by 11am As most of us are heading south I was going to propose we meet at Sandbach Services (just south of M6 J17) at 8.20 for those wanting some breakfast (they have a few options including a MacBreakfast, then leave there at 8.45am prompt as it is about 35 mins down to Weston Park. There will inevitably be a queue to get in but we should be on our stand 10am. We now have regional club banners to put up as well so we will want a little time to organise ourselves properly and put on a nice display Anyone heading direct for the venue you need to be on site by 11am at the very latest (and make sure to allow at least 30mins to queue), but if you come that late the best spots on the stand will no doubt already be taken :tt2: Rich

Larger injectors
If they are the ones in your car Andy then that is a pretty good recommendation, considering the BHP you achieved :thumbup1:

whats the best looking side skirt for 300zx ?
Well Funkysi, I liked the 'silly little vent' in my side skirts so much I put an LED DRL in it :tt2: However I feel the side skirts on my car need blending in better to get a smoother line - that's next winters project I guess lol

Larger injectors
Any recommendations on what is good new (not second hand)?

Weston Park Classic Car Show this Easter
Hi Just to confirm I have ten passes for the Weston Park show on the Sunday. I made payment for them myself so will be asking attendees to pay £3.50 by paypal or pay on the day. As there are a couple of 'maybe's' on the list [300zx 666 (sunday probably) acraig (sunday maybe)] That means we have seven passes spoken for right now It looks likely now that I will be able to make the Sunday myself, so there are potentially a couple of spare passes available. I will have the passes a couple of weeks before the event, but have confirmed with the organisers that payment was received and the passes allocated An interesting fact came out during my discussion with the organisers The Sunday passes are also valid for Monday (no extra cost!) and as we have a club stand they are also transferable between members vehicles - this means that anyone wanting to attend on the Monday can do so for free as we will have a load of passes spare from the Sunday as things stand. If we have enough interest I could attend both days to redistribute any passes as needed So if you want to come along on the Monday - for free - then let me know. If you want to attend Sunday and are not currently on the list let me kmow ASAP as individual car entries are now closed and additional Sunday club passes will only be available for a very short period Rich

Larger injectors
HI guys Can anyone recommend some good injectors around 555cc - 600cc and preferably direct fitment for the existing ones? Noz has done his best to try and pursuade me it would be better to fit some before he remaps my car with the GTX2860's fitted  I did see some 600cc injectors from a seller in Canada on ebay (PFI) but I don't know really if these are any good (apart from the fact they were Red :devil2:) and what I should expect should cost for a set of decent ones anyway. Of course as an off chance someone here may have a set of spare ones? cheers Rich

Daytime Running Lights
My DRLs always cause a lot of interest and rather than looking crap on an old car as some feel, I actually think they make it look more modern I do know what you mean about them being so bright you could forget to turn your headlights on lol Actually they dim when sidelights/headilights are on http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?166671-dicky-got-a-white-zed

RIP Jimmy Ellis
Didn't they do a spin off series called Softly Softly? I remember all the old Jags in that - they were all black

hydrographic printing
As Ian says the the size of the tank is the limitation The smaller one we used can be filled with a couple of buckets of hot tap water and a bucket of cold water and is ready to go in about 10 mins The larger one (home made) uses a couple of immersion heaters and takes a good while to get up to temp but can do some reasonable size objects (plastic engine covers etc). Proper tanks for larger objects (motorbike cowlings, radiator grills etc) cost about £3k as you require movable dividers to keep the usable tank size the same as the sheet size depending on what you are dipping - so there is some investment required there. Then it is a matter of practicing until you get acceptable results then presumeably continuing to gain experience until you get really good results Rich

hydrographic printing
I've been playing around with Hydrographic Printing, or 'water transfer printing' with a friend So I thought i would post a couple of pics of a bit that we did (cheers markderby for giving me this to have a play with) I sprayed the buttons with a chrome rattle can to give it an extra shiny look I quite like this, will have a go at a few other bits (door handle surronds, fuse box cover) soon Also tried my throttle cable cover a couple of times but it did not quite come out right so gonna respray it and give it a third go There are lots of different patterns/colours you can print, Anyone interested in this stuff give me a shout and I'll put it in 'services to members' section. cheers Rich

Weston Park Classic Car Show this Easter
OK I paid for ten Sunday passes today Once I know we have got them, I will be asking for paypal payments from those on the list There may be a few of these passes spare as I accounted for the maybe's and proabably's when I ordered them plus added one extra So if you want one of these sunday passes and are not on the list do add your name here asap I am still hoping we can get enough interest to do the Monday as well - we need at least four more cars Anyone want to join me on the Monday? Hopefully I can order some Monday passes in the next couple of weeks cheers Rich
