  1. Think I've got a leaking brake booster. Need to fully check and diagnose first but does any one have a good working one available? Thanks!
  2. Irony is the parts I was testing worked perfectly. Oh well, best read up on how the MC works...
  3. Thanks pal and good point. Well, just got back all safe form my track day. Got up at 4:30 and loaded up. after arriving and unloading usual signing on, drivers briefing, noise test (97.5dB @4500rpm). Then a trip out to the pits just before my first laps the guy was ok but i hope it wasn't the wife car...... then on to the track... all went well. new NA diff was really good but the solid diff and subframe mounts let you hear every clunk and clank. Just getting up to speed, keeping caterhams, elises and 6.3L AMGs in my rear mirror and the brakes started to not feel quite right. Came in to let them cool as i was thinking they were possible overheating/fading. Went out on stone cold brakes after lunch and they we the same, solid pedal then it moved a bit but the braking was very poor. Tried a couple of stamps on the brakes and the car gently slowed a bit. I realised that stopping quickly wasn't an option for me so came in. Packed the car up for another day. Brakes can't even hold the car on the transporter ramps... When I press the pedal, there's a 'pppphhheeesssss' sound from the pedal area which i've never noticed before. Gut feeling is that it's to do with the master cylinder. May be an air/vac leak?
  4. Well, spent the day packing every tool I could, fluids and spare wheels. Loaded the car and ready for a 4:45 start in the morning.
  5. I'm with Brighton and hove motor club (live in warwickshire!). I compete in the Brighton speed trials. Hopefully I'll be in the mid to low 12s but we will see. Best so far is 13.52 @ 108 over the line. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. I compete in sprints with a national b. it is a lot of fun but I think I enjoy working on the car more.... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. Thanks for the support guys!
  8. There's something at the post office I need to collect - I expect it will be the stickers. If it is, I'll put some pics up tomorrow.
  9. I'm prepping the car over the weekend for Monday's track day at Bedford Aerodrome!!! Finally get to see what a NA diff does to a TT performance. Hope I've done all the bolts up:sweatdrop:
  10. Quarter mile. I guess my real question is this. ‘I’ve got 17” 9.5JJ rims. What is the best tyre size to give the maximum performance for a Quarter Mile?’ Bear in mind I only have about 370 horses and a NA diff. Gut feeling is as set of 275/40-17 Proxes R888s
  11. Totally agree with that. I've coved the journey of vinyl wrapping a whole Z in that thread over the past few months...
  12. Very very interested in this...... What formats can you export the data in? I use Catia V5 or Solidworks if it helps...
  13. I like that. It shows that the 285 40 17 have a smaller diameter than my current 255 45 17. So more grip and acceleration. Win!
  14. So the max diameter of the standard tyre is 24.96 inches My proposal is 26.3 inches A diametrical increase of 1.34 inches. I agree this is an increase of 5%. But the tyre is 14% wider. So what you lose in torque/acceleration, you gain in traction.
  15. The Tire and Rim Association 2013 standards show that 9.5J is OK with 285.
  16. Point taken, and I'm going to have to work the maths out on that, but will the added grip decrease your 64ft time sufficiently to overcome the 5% decrease in acceleration over the 1/4 mile? I've run with 255/45-17 in the past. Going to have to think some more....... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  17. Right, I'm going to keep my eye on the bay for a pair of 285 40 17". Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. So the general consensus is that 285s do fit but the arches may need rolling depending on the wheel offset. Dan, I'm sure the T&RA say that 285s are OK with 9.5JJ. I'll have a look when I'm back in work in the morning. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. So the question is what’s the widest rear tyre you can fit on a Z32 with standard body work? Rolled arches are permitted. Who’s got them and what does it do for the traction? I know I can fit 285s on my 9½JJ wheels, but will they then fit in the rear arches?
  20. think this would have been better....
  21. In the past I’ve had a nightmare trying to fill the gearbox and diff with new oil. This time round I purchased one of these form Opie Oils along with my fluids. Now the image above states that it’s for extracting fluids. For this it’s fantastic and really sucks! However Opie Oils description is as follows: “This great product from laser is designed to make that annoying and frustrating task of filling (or removing) oil / fluids from hard to reach areas in engine bays, motorcycles and machinery a breeze. Cut down on mess and time by simply sucking oil from a container into the pump then using it to precisely fill things like gearboxes and diffs.” So once I’d successfully filled it with my nice new fluid I proceeded to fill the gearboxes. Oil pissed out of the plunger end, all over the floor and me. Tried it again and the same happened. After taking it apart, the piston is sprung loaded and not particular well sealed. As soon as you start to push the fluid out, the increased pressure pushes the oil past the seal and into the void behind the piston. This fills up until you tilt the pump upright and then it all flows through the plunger hole!!! I just about managed to fill both gearbox and diff with the 5L of fluid I had. There was a lot of waist oil and lots of cleaning up needed. It’s not particularly expensive, but certainly does not do as Opie says it does and just wanted to let you all know so you don’t waste your money on it. I think it cost me more in wasted race synthetic fluid than to buy. Avoid unless you just want to suck – for which it’s fine (as Laser Tools state).
  22. Not sure if the uprights are different......
  23. Yes, they are all the same. The differences are the frame, diff, prop shaft, half shafts, bearings and hubs. Hicas delete arms may or may not fit, depends on how its been done.
  24. Been there, done that.:lol::lol:
