  1. I've decided on this, to do all! http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00CLQM9HS/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1C1DL3FSSYNI9
  2. Ok, I thought all I needed was high temperature lithium grease, for the input shaft. Then I discovered spline grease, specifically for splines. However, spline grease should not be used on pivot ballpoints, so should I use normal grease here? Then there is the folk, where it connects to the thrust bearing carrier, again, normal grease? I reckon I should use HT lithium grease, or spine grease, on the shaft. Then either lithium, or any normal grease on the pivot and folk. Obviously don't want to have to drop the gearbox and redo this, so any help would be appreciated. :)
  3. Ok, I've turned the clip around, so this is definitely right? - Have to admit, it does make more sense!
  4. Weird, I haven't removed the Spring retainer, so it's been on the car that way around, unless a previous owner has re-fitted it incorrectly.
  5. Well I got it apart and the new bearing is on. Initially I put it together the wrong way around, it looks different from the original, not really what I was expecting. I mean the front is very open, with that big groove, it's almost asking for some grit or something to get to the bearings...
  6. Thanks everyone, I found the other Plasmas on Ebay. The 'in your face' at night thing puts me off a little though.
  7. Thanks, I''ll try that tomorrow, I figured it was pressed in or something, as it didn't want to lever out at all!
  8. Hey, does anyone have any suggestions to how I separate the thrust bearing carrier, from the thrust bearing? Do I need a garage to press it out / in? Also, lubrication wise, I was going to use a high temperature lithium grease? - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CARLUBE-LM2-MULTI-PURPOSE-GREASE-500g-TUB-LITHIUM-BASED-HIGH-MELTING-POINT-/320998109632?pt=UK_Vehicle_Oils_Lubricants_Fluids&hash=item4abcfa71c0
  9. Perfect! Just what I was after. I do prefer yours to the Ebay dials, they look a lot better. Did you get yours from Ebay?
  10. I'm thinking about these - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1990-1991-90-91-90-91-Nissan-300ZX-Non-Turbo-Plasma-Glow-Gauge-Dials-/251194553522?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a7c5cb4b2 Has anyone installed them, and have any pics, specifically in the dark? Thanks! :)
  11. I just dropped my engine back in (EGR now removed, see link below for more details), but glad I did it without the gearbox attached. I still need to re-attach the gearbox, and yes the top bolts were a nightmare to get off, but using two long socket extension gets to them easy. I hope they go back on as easily. My engine is now bolted in place and there is enough of movement on the mounts to let the engine rest against the bulkhead (gently), so I'm expecting the gearbox to go on easily once I get back under.
  12. Thanks, I've changed 'condenser' in my initial post to 'compressor', so now everything makes sense! :D
  13. I found this - http://z32.wikispaces.com/Air+Conditioning+System So it would seem completely pointless trying to repair / use the R12 system, as the gas isn't available...
  14. Oh, and when I was talking about the 'Condenser', I actually meant the compressor. So really the thread should be called 'Compressor confusion'... oops.
  15. Thanks, before I do this I'll check the pipes, as I may be able to re-thread the damaged pipe and use plenty of thread sealant.
  16. Oh, that sounds like it complicates things. Do you know when it changed. The TT shell is 1990, whilst my NA was 92. I'm guessing my NA has the newer system... Cheers!
  17. Ok, so was excited that I finally bolted my engine into the new shell today and started reconnecting everything. I got to the compressor connections and the damn things are different! It's a TT shell and an NA engine. Do TT's use a different compressor, or is this some kind of auto transmission thing (cant think why)? Neither connections fit, though one is a new pipe I got from ebay a while back, as I stripped the threads removing it from the NA shell, I think it's a TT pipe, but when I bought it I didn't know they were different. I'm guessing TT's have different compressor, but why?!
  18. Thanks, that makes me feel happier. Still I think I'll fill the engine will oil before reinstalling it, and check for any leaks in the sump area!
  19. I think I've sealed the actual sump itself fine, using heat resistant gasket sealant. I went all the way around, concentrating on the dimpled bits, and used a thin covering on the curved seal areas at each side. However, I didn't use any sealant on the inner section of the plastic seals, as they fit into grooves on the bottom of the engine. There clearly hasn't been sealant used in the grooves previously. Do you think it will be ok? Do I need to do it again? I suppose the obvious thing to do is fill the engine with oil and see if it leaks, but that won't test it under preasure when the engine is running.
  20. Cheers everyone, I have a couple of options then. Both look good, but as long as they get rid of the rust, for good, then I'll be happy! :)
  21. It sounds good - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VACTAN-RUST-CONVERTER-AND-PRIMER-500ml-RUST-TREATMENT-/110979886203 Have you used it?
  22. Ok, so this is how it looks - It's pretty much just surface rust, everything is solid and it's not time to start cutting up the body (I've had my fair share of that...and lost! lol) I obviously can't get at it to rub it down, so my question is what should I do with it? I thought about pouring rust eater in there and leave it for a while, then rinse that out, dry it out with a hair drying, then fill it with zinc pain or Waxoyl etc (maybe old oil?), but I don't want the rust to survive and make a come-back. I may well do that targa drain mod someone did and bring rubber tubing through a hole in the bottom of the sill.
  23. Yep... I don't even look at the price of petrol anymore, it's far too scary.
  24. It's ok, I'll just go through Paypal, as I'm literally ready to press the 'Send' button Between Ebay and PayPal I'm surprised anyone has any money left! lol
  25. The gift option doesn't seem to be available anymore, however if I choose 'family or friends', you won't get charged, I will.
