Cooked engine
Already left it overnight to dry a couple of times :(, After I do that I could swear I hear a few pops, but they don't re-occur till its had time to dry again. I've heard of a couple of cooked engines with no obvious mechanical problems being sold, although I only heard about the sale, I don't know what the next owners did to fix them.

Cooked engine
I was thinking headgasket- but surely wouldn't the whole thing have to be screwed so that all cylinders lose compression? Likewise with the pistons- all of them would have to be knackered for all of them not to fire, and the strong smell of fuel suggests the injectors are working. I'd like to give this engine a good try before I go through the ballache of chucking in the spare.

Cooked engine
Anyone have experience of restarting an overheated engine? I cut the engine as soon as I could but it won't restart again, the engine spins quite happily and doesn't make any funny noises, there's spark going to the cylinders and I know at least one of them has compression, also everything reads code55. I think that its overfuelling but I can't be certain, also I can't think of anything that might be cooked enough to stop it starting without throwing an error code.

Have you been scammed on Ebay?
Yeah I got stung, but my 87 pales in comparison to your 1000. If I were you I'd make sure that I'm sitting down before I investigate the fraud protection schemes that ebay has (either that or get ready to empty your wallet into the swear jar).

Nitromorse??
Couldn't you just put some thinners on a slightly rough rag and keep rubbing it? Or you could buy a can of that leveller stuff from halfrauds, thats designed for dissolving paint and should cut right through it.

Half Past Dead......
Half past dead? was that the one with Ja Rule in it? Personally I didn't like that one much, I think if they changed the title to 'You'll wish you were dead' it would more accurately describe the viewing experience. Out for justice was probably his best work, it was all downhill from there (Under Siege doesn't count because it is cancelled out by Under Siege 2)

hydraulic suspension
Ive heard hydraulics will give you a ride thats almost unbearable, because the fluid doesn't compress its like having solid suspension. I've also heard airbags are less reliable and have less travel but give you a ride thats more liveable, although either way your handling won't be a patch on your normal setup.

Rattle when hot
Okeydokey, thanks fellas

Rattle when hot
Found the problem- its something to do with the thermostat, had the car idling for a while, and after a while the engine was much cooler and the radiator is much hotter. I'm a bit concerned the temp sensor didn't register the high temperature before, so I think I'll change it with the thermostat just to be safe.

Rattle when hot
Ah, I just thought if my thermostat is jamming closed then this might make the car overheat (and cause the tapping?), the connections to the sensors on the front are ok but the sensor may not be working/accurate.

Rattle when hot
Nah, the noise is coming from the front of the engine not the TC. Could be, is that something that happens when the engine gets too hot? My temp gauge wasn't even half way but I noticed the engine was too hot to touch, not having much experience with Zeds I didn't know whether that was normal or not.

Rattle when hot
- Rattle when hot
Forgot to mention the rattle matches the speed of the engine- Rattle when hot
Has anyone else experienced a rattle/tapping that occurs when the engine is hot? It sounds almost (i.e. not completely) metallic and comes from the front of the engine around the viscous fan/water pump area. I'm using 10/40 Magnatec so I don't think its my oil, and I don't think its the fan either. I know it could be the cambelt tensioner or some of those things the cambelt runs over, I was just wondering if anyone recognised the heat factor as being symptomatic of something.- Money worries
Get a mark 4 Honda Prelude, amazing handling (great feedback and no body roll), ridiculously cheap, ridiculously reliable (the one I had hadn't been properly serviced for 10 years and I took if off the road because of a worn ball joint, not engine failure). Also the Vtec's are an amazing drive, when you hit 6500rpm you won't miss the turbo so much.- *NZR* Psp advice (Sony I mean!)
Doh, I just asked and it turns out all the ones we have hooked to TV's etc. are Devkits and its done with a VGA cable from the base station. As for the emulators- apparently if you upgrade your firmware to version 2 then emulators won't work on the PSP, but if you don't upgrage you can't surf the internet. So you either have to choose between emulation or web-browsing.- *NZR* Psp advice (Sony I mean!)
We have some hooked up to monitors and TV's at work, if you want I'll ask them how its done.- Dash colours...
Hmmmm, the plot thickens..... Looks like my car's rarity just decreased by 50%- Dash colours...
Pretty rare indeed, AndyZ told me they'd only been sightings of 2 blue interiors in this country, I've got one, I guess you have the other. I rather like mine, goes well with the black carpet I have, tbh I think black mixes with it the best but I think grey or white would also work.- Does anyone remember the original quake for PC?
You can still get 'em on ebay (if you don't mind dealing with a self-righteous two-faced internet auction house that does sod all to protect its users from fraud): http://search.ebay.co.uk/search/search.dll?cgiurl=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.co.uk%2Fws%2F&fkr=1&from=R8&satitle=quake&category0=- NZR jaguar soverign non starter???
I had a problem with mine whereby it sometimes just wouldn't start, turns out that Jag cold start sensors don't work very well when its cold :mac1: Cured the problem by disconnecting the cold start sensor and the car ran fine.- Auto Gearbox conversion - Steptronic
A company called levelten also do electronic overrides for autos, but I've heard some very nasty stories about some of the other things they make (gearboxes that go bang). Also, I emailed them a couple of times to find out availability/shipping but they wouldn't answer.- So what type of engine rebuilds are you guys after?
I'm after high performance Realistically, I'll be getting a budget- At last, a nice Evo?
I think it looks nice, I'd shag it They'd have to widen the exhaust a bit though - Rattle when hot
