new battery?? please read
Don't tell anyone this but I went to Halfrauds and got one of their batteries, it was only 80 something quid, and its rated to 700 cold start amps, and it has 'calcium' apparently. Seirously though, I've got no compaints with it, it seems to hold a ridiculous amount of power- I've been trying to start my car for a couple of days with it and it hasn't missed a beat.

AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGHHHH!! (Autobox)
Brilliant link, thanks Btw- good luck with that engine of yours.

AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGHHHH!! (Autobox)
I checked on the spare engine and the flywheel won't even attach the wrong way round. Right, time to take everything apart and start again (again).

AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGHHHH!! (Autobox)
Yeah, thats the way I'm doing it, even though its a hassle I was worried about mashing the torque conveter on the gearobx shaft. The only thing I can think of is that I somehow unconciously turned the flywheel round without noticing that I did (and also whilst keeping an eye on which way the flywheel came off- go figure).

AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGHHHH!! (Autobox)
Yep, even pulled the engine again, and rebolted to the flywheel to check, I also thought maybe the centre of the TC wasn't engaging with the flywheel but the TC bolts to the flywheel just fine.

AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGHHHH!! (Autobox)
I'm currently trying to drop in my new (re: slightly old) engine, only trouble is I get the Autobox and engine lined up but they won't go the last quarter/half an inch and when I try to tighten the bolts it just starts to bend the flywheel. The Autobox shaft and the Torque converter are lined up fine and they bolt to the flywheel ok, and I'm using my original flywheel so its not a auto/manual flywheel mismatch. The only thing I can think of is that I've somehow put the flywheel on back to front, but I'm pretty sure I took extra care to put it on the right way round (I'm not so sure now). Does anyone have any pictures of an auto flywheel attached to an engine so I can triple check? (also if anyone else has had the same problem then I'd appreciate the advice)

NZR- Nintendo Revolution
To all you game heads out there, they've finally unveiled what the revolution controller is going to look like: http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3143782 I've heard its solid state gyroscopes, coupled with the pair of sensors near the TV will give it a motion sensing ability thats never been seen before- lightsaber battle anyone?

Wtf!!!?
I think R32 lights on the Z32 look great. But not if you make a complete mess, its funny that the guy says they've been 'installed'. I think 'inserted' would be a better word

Foreign Car Spares

Flying car
The crazy thing is those engine pods don't actually contain Jet engines, each one has two minature rotary engines inside (with blades attached), giving the car a total of 8 engines, meaning there is a ridiculous amount of redundancy in the propulsion system. It also runs on ordinary pump petrol and if I remember correctly it can get around 20mpg, has a total of about 850bhp and a top speed of 350mph. Should more than 4 of its engines break down or if the onboard computers fail (it has a few backups), then on top of all that its fitted with a parachute!!!!!! Also I think the production ones are going to look more like planes with foldable wings, instead of that lovely red prototype :(

Cops: how do they do it?
I've heard you can now challenge the accuracy of those useless gun things, apparently some guy in a TVR successfully did because they clocked him doing 67 when he was actually doing 37- something to do with the fact those guns produce a different reading for every single car you point them at because of the way the laser/radar refracts of the bodywork.

decent run about car
Get a Honda Prelude, fast, great handling and dirt cheap now. The one I had hadn't been properly serviced for 10 years and when it finally let me down it was only because of a worn ball joint (it would still drive it just wouldn't get through the MOT without a new one).

Origins of your username

Does anybody on here repair mobile phones?
Don't take it anywhere near a place called MPRC- I used to work there and it was pretty much the most mickey mouse outfit in Stoke on Trent (which puts it in the running for worst in England).

Anyone bought a psp today?
The PSP really annoys me, the reason the launch has been delayed so long is because they were selling so quickly in America that they were worried they might run out so they cancelled the European launch, gave all our stock to the US and decided to make us wait a few months while they made more. Also the American units have a screen that is inferior to the Jap version, the screen we're getting is even worse quality than that (re: cheaper for Sony), yet they'll be charging us the most for the worst version of the PSP and pocketing the savings they make. Im still gonna get one tho.- they're bloody amazing

any1 play battlefield 2 on the PC??
Sorry m8, the game asks for 128MB as an absolute minimum- fraid the only way to play it is to get another computer. AFAIK this was the first game to require 128 minimum, but the others will follow suit pretty soon. Although I have heard of some people somewhere using hacks to get the game running on hardware it doesn't support.

any1 play battlefield 2 on the PC??
No laptops are officially supported by EA games, they have special mobility versions of just about everything inside so their hardware isn't compatible. If you do get it running on a laptop then count yourself lucky as it wasn't designed to. IMHO the spec required to run the game is too high, although I'll probably get fired if I say any more...

Green clicky thingy
Fixed it- it was the relay and both the batteries. Im guessing the Jag one appeared OK at first because its used everyday and that 'kept it alive'. Special thanks to Andyz
-
Green clicky thingy
Thats what I thought- the relay might be fuel pump trying to start. Funny thing is the car was charged overnight and was dead by the next day, it ate my jag battery too. Its been acting funny since I got it back from welding- there was damage to one of the looms but it was the one running down the length of the car and I patched that up when I got it back. When I get back from Norwich I'm gonna try another with a voltmeter.
-
Green clicky thingy
No, thats not it- did the same thing with my jag battery, and the clicking is not coming from under the bonnet.
-
Green clicky thingy
OK, when I put the key in the ignition and turn it a couple of notches the usual lights come on on the dashboard. But at the same time a very rapid clicking starts (fast enough to be considered buzzing) and I've traced it to a light green electric connector/relay in the cabin that sits almost exactly under the bonnet release catch (albeit behind a bit of panelling). The intensity of the dashboard lights fluctates in time with the clicking/buzzing and the car does not turn over if you turn the key all the way. Does anyone know what this relay/connector does and why its buzzing at me? Im thinking there might be a faulty relay or ground somewhere but I don't know where to start looking if it is.
