  1. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA    , my mates mum used to drive us to school in one, once we hit a farmers dog and the car was nearly written off, another time she tried to put the handbrake on and the whole handbrake lever came off in her hand. Personally I think biker's leathers would give you better crash protection than a 2cv
  2. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! couldn't you swap your turbos for some NA manifolds and ECU? converting to NA would save a bit on your bills initially and the NA would handle the gas conversion no problem. Admittedly you'd have a slower car, but you'd still be driving a zed and its nothing a little nitrous wouldn't fix
  3. Been toying with the idea for a while on mine, some LPG converters will tell you they can convert a turbo car just fine, however whether these conversions are fine is a matter of opinion. The turbo cars that have been converted are usually low pressure single units like ovlovs etc. Some people have reported problems with LPG running too hot and harsh and hence causing damage to valves and valve seats, I can only imagine on a turbo car this problem will be a lot worse, with our comparatively high pressure it will be even worse again, and with our high running temps I think you may get a tripple whammy of bad news. I shudder to think what would happen if you shoved liquid petroleum gas through a hot manifold into an incredibly hot engine under high boost pressure. However I've also thought if you fit a boost controller you can essentially turn your turbos off, and probably run LPG without problems. Cos of our low compression you'll get less power than an NA zed (prob. around 200bhp), but you could have a 0psi map in your controller that allows you to run your LPG system, you could then switch back to petrol in order to run your turbos. Im guessing with the reduced economy of LPG you'll get about 20mpg (remember your turbos will be off so less fuel will have to go in but that will be offset with the lower mileage you get from gas), but your petrol will cost half as much.
  4. Wow, thats some nice work, where did you get the steel to go on the underside? did you make it up yo'self?
  5. Yeah like that, except where you have white paint, I have white filler. Mine has more rust on the outer panel, looks like your rust goes as far as the subframe mount as well though its hard to tell without sticking the camera up inside that hole. Any ideas? (I've already started praying, maybe if I sign up for a few more religions I can increase my chances)
  6. Firstly- I promise this is the last help I ask for before subscribing Second- I know sill rust is common, but has anyone had to go all the way back to the rear subframe mounts? Ive seen replacement outer panels and inner reinforcement panels but my rust is touching the panel that is behind the reinforcement panel, it is also touching the rear subframe mount. Even though the mount hasn't rusted through Im not happy about its structural integrity and Im thinking that the mount needs to be replaced. Has anyone had their rust go this far back and what did they do aboot it? Right now the only thing I can think of is to chop the whole side and underside out of a breaking zed to give me raw material. (Btw. I know this thread may be worthless without pics, in the same way that my digital camera is worthless without batteries)
  7. When I was at school I just used the computer system to change my grades after I failed, I then did the same thing for my girlfriend. Then some other computer I was playing games with tried to launch all our missiles at the USSR and destroy the world. Oh no wait, that was Wargames, nevermind then...
  8. Ain't finished the rebuild yet so I've been alternating between a Prelude and Jag. My Zed is red but thankfully I'm halfway through the gloss white repsray (I can't afford pearl), the only time I thought that my car looked good in red was when I'd had a few lungfuls of paint and thinners. Btw. for all you black fans- Ive had a black car for 3 years and I fancy a change, otherwise I would be painting it black (everything looks better in black).
  9. Definatley- the lorry drivers in this country are the just about the only people left with any sense on the roads, In eight years of driving I don't think an HGV has ever tailgated me once.
  10. Does anyone remember that episode of fifth gear with the feature about foreign lorry drivers, if you saw the original cut (not the repeat on men and motors), then that lady who was talking about being hit by one was in fact- my old lady. Long story short- foreign driver moved into the middle lane without indicating, my mum was already in the middle lane and was spun around in front of the truck, luckily went all the way across the inside lane and onto the hard shoulder so she didn't get flattened by the lorry. The bulgarian tw@t who hit her just stood there on the hard shoulder while she held her unconcious brother's head back to keep his airway open, he had to be cut out of the car. Not only did he stand there and do nothing, he only just admitted liability for the accident, it has been two years since this happened and despite winning the case we still havent recieved our compensation
  11. Ok, keep your eyes out for a green 1990 Jag headed south- that'll be me
  12. Headed down the slip lane to the A320 roundabout (this one had a modified nose panel a bit like this: http://www.zcentre.co.uk/hlpanels/zc001c.htm)
  13. Seen a few times, around 6.30 ish, probably on the commute home. Also seen a silver one on the same route/time.
  14. Sounds like you're experience was similar to mine, my seller didn't respond to emails then when I initiated the complaint I got all this apologetic crap about how their computer had been hacked etc. I then stopped the complaint cos I'm a nice guy. After stopping the complaint I heard nothing and of course once you've stopped a complaint, it can't be started again. The seller stopped responding again and then stopped being a registered user of ebay so I was completely screwed. I then hit upon the idea of looking up their ebay history and emailing every single person they'd dealt with explaining the situation how I'd been ripped off by them, one of these emails was successful and I now have their home address.
  15. If you've only got 3k then you should pay no more than 2K for you car. Its better to buy a car you KNOW is a dog, than to spend 4K on one that may or may not be alright. If you spend only 2K on the car, you can use the money you save to rebuild it, 1K should get you started but you'll probably another 1K minimum for parts. This assumes that you do ALL work yourself (and a lot of your parts will have to be second hand- so choose wisely), otherwise the labour charges will double the amount of money you have to spend. The end result will be a zed whose condition you are familiar with to the last nut and bolt.
  16. I'm spraying mine bright white cos I'm going for the Jap look (also cos I'm on a budget). Silver would be my second choice- light silver with a dark silver flip, giving the car a 'steel' look- saw it once on a 3000gt and it looked amazing (the paint that is- shame about the car it was sprayed on).
  17. 'Rise of the dead zed'- thanks a bunch for using the theme I was going to, when my car is finished I was gonna call mine 'Dawn of the Zed' or 'Night of the living Zed' (depending on what time of day the work was finished). Now I can't cos its already been done- if you hadn't done such a nice job on your car, I'd be annoyed :)
  18. wow- thanks for the info fellas
  19. What make/model rims were you using? with what kind of offset, spacers etc. I ask because I saw a GTR skyline the other day that had been properly Nismo'd, one look at the wheels told me that they were the rims I HAD to have on my car. Only problem is I think the LM GT4's only look good when they're 9" wide otherwise you don't get the concave 'dish' look and they end up looking like any other alloy wheel.
  20. Has anyone heard of 9" wheels being fitted to the front of a 300zx? I can't find anyone whose done this, but I was poking around today and I thought it didn't look to difficult to create a bit more space under the wings. Am I just being stupid? If it was that easy to modify surely everyone would be doing it wouldn't they?
  21. If you don't have an address its gonna be pretty difficult. Chances are that mobile number he gave you will be non-contract as well, but a private detective should be able to track him based on the number (assuming that he switches it on again), a good enough one would be able to get some network history and find what other numbers his phone dialed. Some do a no-find no-fee, but finding one good enough to track a mobile using radio won't be easy.
  22. If burnt out cameras are your thing try: http://www.speedcam.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/index2.htm Theres several pages on there.
  23. Cold water sounds like condesation to me- can't imagine how any cold could come from the engine after its been running. Sure seems odd that the ac could produce enough to make a puddle, although tbh. Hondas are what I know most about.
  24. You have my sympathies, I lived in Joke-on-trent for six years. And that A34- was it me or did it have more speedcameras than tarmac? (Interesting story- the chief constable's kids go to a school along that road so he covered the thing with gatso's). Anyhow- that footwell puddle of water sounds like classic heater matrix (search for 'heater matrix'), I hear its easy to change if you take the dashboard out (not actually as difficult as it sounds), or you can bypass it.
