Clutch problem, Jeff's help please
thought i'd update on how the job went, even though it was weeks ago.... this is what the problem was [/img] [/img] [/img] after toiling for a while using a lift designed for some sort of tank (with a considerable larger ground clearence than my zed) we finaly got the box out to find this.... [/img] looks like the bearing carrier was ok though... [/img] and so was the pivot ball [/img] just to be on the safe side, replaced the ball, bearing carrier, obviously a new fork and the relevant springs and put it all back together [/img] and before we left i couldn't resist taking a few photo's [/img] [/img] The pedal has never felt so good, it is absolutely sublime. but after giving it a bit of poke on the drive home the clutch was slipping, we were second guessing ourselves to weather or not we assembled the new fork correctly. So left it a bit and kept in low boost. but a couple of days later took it for a blast and no matter what i tried i couldn't get it to slip again, and its being right as rain since (apart from unrelated problems) so overall was a succesfull job. Chears for all your help guys.

Prop shaft bracket/bearing
does it involve taking the old prop appart? i.e, the pivot point in the middle?
-
Prop shaft bracket/bearing
not a fan of paying for labour, probably tackle the job with a mate. i'm thinking it would be easier to fit a new prop than to change the bearing, what does it involve to change the bearing? just a hydrolic press?

Prop shaft bracket/bearing
I do remeber seeing this and the idea was mentioned between me and my mate. however, depends on how much a new bearing is, and whats needed to fit it.

Prop shaft bracket/bearing
after getting the box out last weekend to fix my clutch problem i noticed that the bracket supporting the propshaft about halfway down was a bit loose, the rubber seal around the shaft was split. Is this possible to replace or does it require a new propshaft?

Do you think the insurance will cover this?
I was hoping to buy my first house this year for a rental, but your sort of putting a downer on it now. I thought that if she's on benifits then the DSS pay for housing, or is this all just something i made up in my head?

Clutch problem, Jeff's help please
Chears again Jeff, and I'm really sorry for being a nuisance. Reg worked perfectly though got them ordered, the pivot ball and the springs were under a tenner so i thought i may as well get them along with the bearing carrier and the arm. Unfortunately though it'll be a week before they're here. which means i can probably write off taking her to Scotland on the 19th. Things we do for a good car eh....

Clutch problem, Jeff's help please
well i'll give them a ring on monday when they're open. if they can beat z centre's price for the fork and the springs then i'll get it all from nissan. Unless you know of any other suppliers...

Clutch problem, Jeff's help please
i got the cluth from andy page (motor factor suppliers) so its just a standard non genuine clutch, so i would assume a standard carrier would be what i wanted. do i have to get the pivot ball from nissan aswell? i hope they don't take the pee with delivery time...

Clutch problem, Jeff's help please
chears Jeff, would i be best replacing the pivot ball as well? any idea where i would get one from? i know zcentre sell the bearing carrier spring, the clutch fork spring, and the clutch fork, but that looks to be about it apart from a spigot bearing whatever that is. so any idea where i can find the bearing carrier suitable for my clutch?

Clutch problem, Jeff's help please
yes i just found this, thought i'd stop being a lazy ******* and use the search bar myself. This sounds exactly like my problem, "leaver arm slipping sidways" is the exact problem i have. now the issue is finding an upgrade kit or a replacement...

Clutch problem, Jeff's help please
Turns out it wasn't the cylinder needing bleeding. the clutch release arm isn't sat right. its crucked over on a slight angle instead of being perpendicular to the slave (regret so much not getting a photo while it was up on the lift). so the cylinder is having to come out further than what it should to release the clutch, and when the pedal is right down it still isn't fully releasing. When i first got the car the clutch was really badly worn, when we put the new one in we found the release bearing wasn't fitted right and the arm was really far back. so i'm not sure if the arm is worn or bent in some way, or if its the ball that it sits on. Either way i know its going to be a boxout job, but i'm not sure what is more likely to need replacing. any info or guidance would be greatly appreciated. The plan is to secure a place to do the job for next saturday so we'll have the use of a pit or lift. So i hope to get any parts needed by then. Regards Steve
