Time Attack Round 6 Brands Hatch. Sep 29.
http://www.modifiedlive.co.uk/page.php?a=5&s=77&p=77 Gives a list of what is going on. As far a Time Attack is concerned its the usual format which I have explained before.... Morning. Ist session is a warm up . 9.00 ish Late morning.. Practise. After lunch. Ist points coring session Late afternoon. The final session.. Pro classes and Club classes run separate sessions. Bob and James run club class. As does our thread guest Darron Wall. So four Z sessions and four VERY fast Pro sessions PLUS all the other events too. I dont have a precise timetable and these things dont run exactly to the minute anyway. Contact organizers if you need more info. HTH

Its a pity you cant get someone to come along with you, thereby sharing the travelling costs

Time Attack Round 6 Brands Hatch. Sep 29.
well Motorsport is still in its infancy on 300ZX forum. We do have a small following but probably not enough to warrant a stand. The other thing to bear in mind is that Bob, me , Paul, James and Jimmer are in the pits all day as are the cars. None of us are very interested in "showing" cars. So we wouldnt be in a position to contribute to any club presence. As I always say members are welcome to pop along and say Hi. But I have already highlighted the possible limitations on the response you might get. Lunch time is probably the best time

Time Attack Round 6 Brands Hatch. Sep 29.
So.... with a few days to go I have had informal reports that both cars and drivers are ready...(or nearly) Both Bob and James will be there on Sat nite in their respective RVs. So the cars are already offloaded and ready for scrutineering . Jimmer wil be in attendance with James first thing Sunday. Paul and me will be there too on Sunday morning. The organizers have a full field of cars for the event with some one off entries(known as one hit wonders) A full field of cars on a tight and technical track like Brands is going to "interesting" to watch And probably quite intimidating to drive in:scared: Pah! you might say ... how hard can it be ... you only need one fast lap!!!:innocent: The answer is .... Its very hard:yes: Come along and watch the fun. It will be the last opportunity to see two 300ZX's slogging it out side by side for some time to come. Remember the pit courtesy bit.... We might have time to talk but dont be offended if we dont cos it can be a bit busy at times. We dont sit round all day chatting:lol:

They're mine, all mine. At last......!!
LOL!!! If you wanted them then well done. Dont bother with a pic cos I dont want to see them:whistling: Did you pay over the odds?????????????????????? Well if they were more than £4.99 then the answer is yes:lol: Only joking mate... as usual:biggrin:

Nights are Drawing in!!
As September rolls to a close soon I can tell that days are shorter. In the evening this week there has been a nip in the air. I dont yet have the central heating on so last night Kane curled up on his blue blankie in the lounge quite early. He was huddled up in a tight ball so I went to the kitchen to get his other red blankie and draped it over him. He remained like this till it was time for the last night time walk !!

Track Car weights
Yep thats the original thread on the subject. The info is copy n pasted from a US site. Its written like its all fact but it isnt and it too misses the main point. The final weight of what you are left with. To see if you are making any progress you need to be methodical about it. Weigh the item you are starting with. IE your own car, Perform whatever weightsaving you are doing. Weigh the final item again. Guesstimates of how much your car was to start with based on data in books and on the net wont do. Likewise relying on a now outdated list dreamped up by some random americans based on a different spec of car to ours is not very accurate or scientific

Club autocross
Good find. Easier and better probably just to join an existing club that has all the relevant experience.

Club autocross
UK Autocross is similar to grasstrack racing which I used to do MANY MANY years ago. Organizing an event like this will not be easy in the current "heath n safety" climate Finding a suitable private area is the first task. Nothing suitable is likely to be free. Then the health n safety bit kicks in... Insurance/marshalls/timekeepers etc etc Then you need to get people to take part. This forum like many car club forums is full of people who have "no money" "no time". and cant even drive properly on the road without breaking down let alone under the scrutiny of their fellow owners on anything even vaguely competitive. in addition you will need petrol and it wears out tyres!!:innocent: And most 2+2s fully laden with fibreglass, MDF and multiple audio bits will fall over if driven at any sort of competitive speed:laugh: It's a great idea none the less and we do have a Motorsport coordinator .................... So dont let my take on it put you off. its basically what I did last week at Nissan Parts HQ although I was totally upstaged and outclassed by the Litchfield GTR:lol:

Track Car weights
Nope Im sure someone somewhere does. however all these individual weights of stuff, while of passing interest are not really much use. there is only one weight of any real interest... the bit thats left.:thumbup1:

Club autocross
You are referring to autocross as defined by the Americans. the traditional meaning of Autocross in the UK is an offroad format. It s big brother is Rallycross. http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&ved=0CC8QFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FAutocross&ei=Pak4Up-BA62O7Ab33oGwBg&usg=AFQjCNFo7RQfPCLyaNNMGSjIvMk6RN9tmg&bvm=bv.52164340,d.ZGU http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=4&ved=0CEYQFjAD&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gomotorsport.net%2FGo-Info%2FTypes-of-Motor-Sport%2FAutocross&ei=Pak4Up-BA62O7Ab33oGwBg&usg=AFQjCNGGDQQbdNmK2Ovm4sqmTh_5WszpBg&bvm=bv.52164340,d.ZGU&cad=rja The US version is pretty much what the third disipline at TOTB is.

Track Car weights
They handle properly. There is no place in a motorsport orientated car for it. IMO of course. Removal saves weight too.
-
Track Car weights
LOL!!! Nobody should do any of the work James,Bob and me have done to our cars. They are all ear drum painful to drive :scared: Unless you want to turn the car in to one like ours of course.:thumbup1: They are all ruined as far as having a nice road car is concerned

Rad overflow/expansion bottle!!
something to add to the winter rebuild list maybe.
-
Bumper question (probably a dumb one)
Its the wrong bumper . The car is a very very rar car in this country. It is a really nice example. It deserves to have the correct bumper on it. IMO of course
-
Track Car weights
Vectra in for sevice and MOT so I had the slicktop out n about. Weighbridge is opposite Ilkeston Town Football ground. CPL distribution(coal etc) At £8 it wasnt cheap but it puts my mind at rest . And it does set a target for anyone else to aim for.
-
Bumper question (probably a dumb one)
Yep its got a TT front bumper on it. Probably bodged on by a previous owner who couldnt find the correct one for it Pity as it does spoil a very nice and very rare car
-
Rad overflow/expansion bottle!!
We will look at the whole thing at the end of the season. You have made a very good suggestion. Meanwhile we will just do a quick/cheap fix. It only needs to be good for 4 x 15 min sessions
-
Rad overflow/expansion bottle!!
All under way now guys . Ben is going to replace the rad cap. Im sending a replacement bottle to him which he will fit. Oveflow from bottle is being directed away from brakes via an additional tube. Ben will check car at workshop before Bob collects. Paul n me will monitor the situation carefully at Brands. And if anyone removes a rad cap or touches the car without my say so they will be castrated instantly:scared:

Rad overflow/expansion bottle!!
Yep what I think was the problem was the coolant was coming oyut of the hole and being blown back on to the brakes!!!!! Paul also thought the bottle was split.?? There might be an issue with the rad cap.?? Or maybe something more sinister .?? I will speak to Ben at Eurospec about it. We just need it to last one more event!! LOL!! Temps early in the day were OK. Sitting waiting to go back out on final session it did get very hot stationary but cooled down on the move.
