  1. But how did they get the transit on four??? And how long did it take.?? i hate to rain on the parade but these just look difficult/impossible to use on a low 300ZX. Plus...as already said you cant take a wheel off. 80% of the jobs I do on 300Zxs involve wheel removal even if its just to improve access Low entry racing jack is the way to go.................. IMO.. IMO
  2. No we dont do technichal!!!:whistling: Its off soon to have an extension to the weld in cage then back to Jimmer for the engine I think
  3. One more!! .............................
  4. So another long session today from Paul and me sees the car 95% done for our part at the moment. We have re fitted the oil cooler Fitted some nice powder coated alloy mesh to the bumper. And for most of the day made and fitted the front splitter and installed the stays. The car sits high at the moment without any engine and box fitted. It will drop a bit when thats fitted. Then we can lower the front suspension to race height. Todays pics and one from during the week of the final fit of mirrors and Lexan....... enjoy.........................................
  5. Thanks Gary. Looks like its all OK now! - - - Updated - - - LOL!!!:lol::lol::lol:
  6. I have renewed my subscription by Paypal but Im showing as a registered user????
  7. Thanks guys... it is all coming together nicely I think. I now have all the RH side windows mirror and spoiler stay in place. but I seem to have lost the ability to add images to the thread tonite????
  8. and today the rear quarter window proved quite tricky. Paul and me had to resort to some "thermo forming"....{ hot air gun on polycarb} to get the lh rear quarter to fit nicely. However its all in and sealed now. Paul took the front coilovers off and evened out the settings. swapped the discs on to the correct sides and turned the LH top arm round the correct way. One locking nut was very loose. Nothing is loose now. The last bit of custom thinking and fabricating centered on the new light weight Spa mirrors. The previous ones were difficult to adjust and stay tight in one place. These ones lock in place from the back inside the door which involved a bit of extra hole drilling. Im confident of the solution. Its all hidden by a black ally plate carried over from the previous install.. So all the tricky stuff is complete on the LH side. I just need to repeat the three installs on the RHS. Few pics of the progress.....................
  9. Thanks Dave. i know there is a little band of "followers" and you are one of them. Its always good to get tricky jobs like fitting the polycarb out of the way without incident.. Tomorrow will be another day of general graft and progress and with Paul around we will get double the work done.
  10. The rear hatch is very flexible. So the little stays just keep the spoiler from moving too much. Are they neccessary??? Well who knows. Its the same with the polycarb window ... do you need Sikaflex and screws??? Belt n braces approach I suppose . Im in a "lets just get this done" mode now and I can see it taking shape nicely. There must be less to do as there are less boxes of bits lying around.
  11. So another steady day of progress.. i got the new rear polycarbonate screen in place for a trial fit and drilled all the holes for the securing screws. This is always a nerve racking little job as its easy to crack the polycarb. As Paul wasnt available today I summoned Danny my daughters partner to assist with lowering the polycarb on to a nice thick bead of Sikaflex marine grade. There is no room for error here ... you only get one chance to lower it in to place. First it has to be tucked up inside the top trim strip then lowered evenly on to the Sikaflex It all went well . We then carefully nipped up the securing bolts n nuts to keep a little pressure on the polycarb while it cures. I will probably need to leave some heat on overnite to keep the temp at a level where it will bond properly lastly I re made one of the rear wing securing stays so it bolts on the little securing mounts that Bodymech fabricated and fitted for me. Paul is booked in for tomorrow so we can move to the front of the car.............................. A couple of pics......................
  12. So with christmas gone I have been putting in some time in the workshop. I cant believe how long it takes to make simple brackets and similar stuff. Even bolting in the seats is a job on its own with all the bolts hidden under the seat mounts. The bracket to hold the brake/clutch fluid reservoir was a very shoddy item before and wasnt secure at all. I have made a new one with captive bolts so one person can install/remove it easily. The battery now lives behind the passenger seat securely mounted on a new frame. This was wedged right at the back of the boot before with an unneccesarily long cable run. The passenger window has all the correct bolts in it now. I have installed a new small size washer bottle on the rear quarter behind the drivers seat. tomorrow I plan on getting the drivers side window re installed and the new lexan windows fitted. The steering column with its new ally spacer is back in place along with both seats and the dash roughly in place too. The new snap off steering wheel bracket works 100%.
  13. LOL!!! Im not up norf mate...................... Nottingham is in the Midlands And we havent been flooded like the south!!
  14. Have you not been to England then???? The whole country from the air is green really. Quite a contrast from the view when you come south from Madrid and drop down for Malaga aeropuerto. Im a fairly frequent flyer to Malaga as I have a place in Fuengirola which I love . Coming in to East midlands airport all you see below you is the typical patchwork of green England. Come to Nottingham... home of Robin Hood who roamed the woods to the north of the city.... according to the legend!!! There is still some ancient oak forest but the majority of it is newish pine forest. You can stay in forest log cabins too.
  15. kerching!!! another owner with a similar idea to me. No MAFs of course with my Emerald. I havent done mine... yet but I have all the pipework bought. i am planning on going thru to the front past the radiator and turning 90 degrees before the filter. I have some Z1 larger throttle bodies to fit also. Your 236 hp will be at the fly not the wheels BTW. Stock NA new engine gets 225.
  16. Are you running a separate/divorced intake and MAF for each side of the plenum then?? Or does it still go in to a single shared pipe for some of the intake??
  17. Well its been a long and busy day with Bob's car today. We have installed the solid bush on the column. Straightforward job really. We had to be extra careful not to get the rebuilt column 180deg out as we have a non moveable steering wheel position. This wont be an issue for anyone else tho. As we already knew the old rubber coupler was split to bits. This is going to make a big difference. At the rear of the car we got everything back on and bolted upand torque checked. I just need to mark all the bolts/nuts now . the job took longer than expected as we uncovered another suspension "issue" The strut units on either side were around 20 mm different in length. And just to add to the chaos one spring had no pre-load at all on it and was rattling loose while the other side had over 30ft-lbs of pre-load. we have adjusted them equally now with a small amount of pre-load and equal tube length. Final adjustments need to wait till the car is all back together again with engine and box in etc. The important thing now is we have a known starting point for later adjustments. Likewise with the strut damping. They are set equally at a firmness we have noted. Pre season testing will be the time to fine tune it. So with the temporary brake caliper pin in place we dropped it down on the deck. Its low!!! probably very close to "race height".. Check out the pic!! Next jobs now are on the front suspension and brakes where we already know of at least two problems..................one disc on backwards and one top adjustable arm the wrong way round.. We also need to re route the brake pipes away from the turbos. Enjoy the pics....
  18. perhaps a moderator should clean up the thread and get it back on topic.... Wait a minute... Its moderators who are spamming the thread..:innocent:. and others
  19. On adifficulty scale of 0 to 10 it measures 10.5!!! So I hear. I have no personal experience. As you can see we are changing it on the bench...(tomorrow) Based on my 240Z experience where its common practice to swap out the coupler for a Urethane one, I expect it will make a significant/noticeable difference.
  20. Im already registered!! you already told everyone this..................... " theres one for sale on SXOC" So it wasnt difficult to find it LOL!!! Anyway it was a good car and if you pay your dues on here you can PM Jimmer for his opinion. He is mentioned in the advert. Looking at the pics I can see it has had a nice Ser 2 JDM spec interior fitted. Better than the UK one (IMHO)
  21. well I guess we will only know when Bob drives the car.. The current Nissan rubber item is knackered so this seemed the way to go for a replacement. Im not building a road car so an increase in harshness wont matter. The whole car is brutally harsh anyway. Removing any of Nissans cushioning bushes is going to increase vibration. The bush doesnt cause any vibration per se. It amplifies any vibration already in the system. What I hope it will do is eliminate any play/movement in the steering and therefore give a more precise response when the steering wheel is turned. The Driftworks one is stainless steel I believe. This is a lightweight ally one. i will probably fit one when I swap engines too.
  22. Its former member on hwere Murt's old car................ http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?549483-UK-Z32-TT-Manual-new-MOT-cheap!
  23. There was a "missing" brake pad pin on the rear Stoptech caliper. This is an odd looking push in interference fit. I have ordered a repacement but Im sure with Britain in "shut sown" mode it wont appear anytime soon. Since we want to get the rear end finished this weekend I made one today in the conventional style to do for now!:biggrin:
  24. It isnt an upgrade ... they came with one on:yes: Different wiring loom made to accept it... and the later style CAS.... and later style injector connectors.
