  4. he was certainly very young when he first called at my place.... almost 10 years ago!! Wait a minute!!!! I have just realised>>>>>> Looks like another 10 year thread about to happen:whistling:
  5. its all new and IMO is a retrograde step. I will never love it cos it hides the classifieds away in a separate section. You only have to look how it doesnt work on Z club.net . It is so bad on there I paid for my own traders section to advertize on.
  6. no idea what you are on about?????? there are basically two types of towing attachment. .... Soft Nylon straps like the one on my car. Or hard metal one like I fitted to Bobs car.
  7. yes he has one fitted. Should be a pic or two on one of my build threads for MY car. I used the nylon thats what I did on Bobs car using the red alloy one he already had. Jaffa will have one too.... on one of his pixcs/builds Im sure.
  8. No he didnt. Slick Pete doesnt do anything for free!! Lets get the facts in the correct order. 1. Rob asked me to supply him with a working starter motor. Which I supplied. I charged him £30 which was a fair price He had been told previously by someone else that his was faulty. 2. When I went to see the car he asked me to help him fit it. 3 after it was correctly fitted the car still wouldnt work which pointed to a faulty activation to the starter. 4. The quickest way to check this out on a day when no tools or diagnostics were available was to rig up a live feed to the solenoid actiator wire direct from the battery, which I did. 5. The car started immediately and sat there idling on its own for 15 minutes. 6. I paid Rob for the parts I bought from him. shook hands .... and left. End of.
  9. Call me tomorrow......07778 411568 anytime day/nite
  10. I can "disappear" again if you want:tt2:

  13. Looks like the front bumper came from Peru!!!!!
  14. as a York raceway user I will "probably" be there. I need to do an engine swapand remap first tho.. Ideal shakedown before Japfest.
  15. The viscous seled unit in the Z32 diff appears to be a long lived unit. I have limited knowledge of how it works but it is relatively mild in its action although as you say you can feel it work. If it stops working then you will know and then its probably not fixable. The conventional salisbury/ Kaz/Cusco style is different. you can vary the amount of slip/ no slip by altering the plates both the direction they fit and the number employed. these do run in the whole diff oil and the correct type of oil is required . Kaz do one as to several other firms. This will become contaminated over time due to frictional wear on the plates and will need to be changed. A well torqued up plate diff is not a road friendly item in reality as it clunks and clicks as it works. They also have a tendency to send the car "straight on" at roundabouts... not good. Some Nissan models do have a softer road going plate type diff which is more user friendly but ultimately not so effective in the heat of competition. Im my opinion and based on my experience and that of colleagues is that for tarmac/circuit use a Quaife torque biasing type diff is preffered but for off road gravel/forest rally use a well torqued plate diff is the way to go.
  16. The LSD unit is a sealed unit inside the crownwheel cage so changing the oil has no effect on its action. Other than that Jeff has covered everything else you need to know.
  17. It is down to fading. Hence why it features on US cars from sunny southern states

  22. And once upon a time a few years ago I went to Bradford with the trailer and brought this back for Bob............................ It seems to have changed a little as the years have passed.
  23. Well as Bob was coming up the motorway on this fine sunny day I was busy getting his car and boxes of parts ready for loading. When he arrived we set to and loaded. He was soon on his way as I bade a fond farewell to this latest phase of the story. Enjoy the pics.....................
