Roll cages... Again!
Update. I have now comissioned a small initial run of hoops. Each hoop is being made and supplied with the offcut section in the price which will be enough to make all the rear and/or diagonals I/you need.(I hope!!!) If this is going to work out OK it will keep the price very reasonable. I have also asked my man to make some "feet"!!! 10cmx10cm. in 3 mm plateWith four bolt holes pre- drilled. one gets welded to the end of the bar, the other is placed under the car and then the bolts sandwich the shell between them. I have ordered 8 per cage. If you opt to weld in then under floor plates are not really neccessary(IMHO). However they are so cheap to make in bulk that I just had them all done now. More details after production.

Let's get your times up then lads :)
Well Ill just set it out for those who are unsure. People like poops and duffer already know. 1 Santa Pod is top quality track designed for serious drag racing. Use the correct tyre and grip is phenomenal, especially on pro shootout or test n tune days. I simply cant unstick my Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials with the modest NA power of 242 at the fly. The tyres at 275/40-17 will launch a 700hp Camaro with front wheel pick up! Thats how much grip can be generated by an experienced driver with the correct tyre. The surface is SMOOTH and polished by constant use and has as mention a spray of traction adhesive(glue) sprayed on before racing starts. 2 Road tyres are just not designed for this surface and are rock hard in comparison. Add in unexperienced driver to the mix... result ... LOADSA WHEELSPIN. But the drivers blame the track of course.! Concrete surfaces like Bruntingthorpe and the amateur side of the launch pad at York are much grippier for road tyres cos thats what they are designed to run on. So its all down to ... what tyre ... what surface ... and what driver. Thats why you appear to get "conflicting stories". There not really conflicting at all they are just different peoples experience with different equipment in different locations. That ok for ya???

how much is an AFM then?
Usually available on Ebay around the £120 mark. sometimes available for £100 privately on here. I was quoted £150 from a breaker(I dont mean a Subscribed breaker on here BTW just a normal Joe Bloggs Jap breaker)plus vat

proposed 2007 national events
Sounds OK to me. The former National events organizer and me did a similar day before but we did limit to NAs(cos Im a bit biased!!!!) However opening it up to TTs and HybridZ too might big up the numbers. Im always up for helping out at da Pood and passing on a few tips to "Pod Virgins" before their first runs. Perhaps if you wait till Mike does Z Club Challenge dates then something might suit this club to do it on the same day.

Temporary Monthly Midlands Meet 29th October
Ahem!!! We Midlandz members organize some of the best regional meets in the Midlands!! :nana2: You should know... youve been. :slap: And we nearly always end up at a branch of the brewery too!!  So are you coming down for one last outing before you wrap the Marble beast up for the winter????? 300ZX co.uk is a great club with hundreds of decent honest members, and local meets are the very foundation that clubs like this are built on. Sure there is a bit of falling out now n again but club life just goes on.

proposed 2007 national events
At present there is no such event. The Z Club always has its Z Club Drag Challenge Series organized by Mike Feeney. But to be eligible you must be SUBSCRIBED to Z Club. And its not just 300 Z32s there are other classes too. Although there is usually an invitational class you wont be eligible for the Championship in that category. Normally six events throughout the year too, not one single event. . However most of these rounds take place at normal RWYB days which are pretty boring if you are not competing. Its always been a minority type event and probably always will be. So not in my view worthy of National consideration. We have on odd occasions made one of the rounds a Midlands event cos quite a few Midlands memberz(like me ) are actively involved. In truth this may well have been the start of your belief that Jap Show meets were Midlands regional Events as opposed to National events. But I see you havent put in the June Jap Show at Santa Pod??? Now that would be worthy of consideration. its been a national event before for us. So I suggest that be included. I do appreciate the fact that there has to be a limit on the numbers of National Events as one National organizer can only do so much. i speak from experience here as I have organized events for the Z Club at the NEC indoor classic show.

Temporary Monthly Midlands Meet 29th October
Well the venue isnt " written in stone" we can meet anywhere. This is a new venue and its not actually Derby. Its at the Junction of the A50 where the A518 Uttoxeter Road turns off . Its called "The Racecourse" as it quite close to Uttoxeter race course IIRC. Ive just driven by and I can see large car park and there is a Travel Lodge or similar next door. I thought that the location would be easy to find and reasonably central for a number of people. Or we could meet in Ashbourne and have a little convoy first. Or we can do something entirely different. All Nick and I are proposing is that we carry on the excellent work Chunk and then Ivan have done in organizing meets. So any other suggestions are welcome. How about we agree the date first.... then sort the venue??? And since this is towards the west of the Midlands we could have one in November a bit further east and south to suit peeps like Craig David. Im sure someone will take over the Midlands Organizer roll(but it wont be me, dont panic) :nono: . Until then a little friendly co operation will keep the good momentum we now have ticking along. Its your club guys n gals as well as mine. Just speak up ....... ;) Manta, Boldy, Vinz,Ceejay, Tweaky, Ed,Spinksy,Zulley, Si-Z etc etc?/ Oh Im probably gona mention it on Z Club too. One or two "classic " owners might well come along. Thats not a problem for ya is it??? Feed back time................................................

jap show finale at santa pod
Just what I have said in my post above. However one very new NEO telling the whole club what is and isnt a National event is not the way to go about it. What we need is a PROPOSED LIST of NATIONAL events so the members can have some input in this . Without rank and file support from members no event will be well attended.

jap show finale at santa pod
Agreed 100% And what we need to move on to now is a proposed list for 2007 that has everyones agreement.
