  1. My advice.. dont bother. I had one a couple of years ago. Early Turbo Manual. Lacklustre performance (the NA version is even worse and the auto version gets overtaken by Micras.) Indifferent style. Parts are as expensive (from Nissan) as Z32s And all the UK ones are those awful 2+2 Targa versions. As usual the Japs and Uncle Sams men had a choice of a 2 seater and slick top s too. That sharpens them up a little, but still in my opion dull and dated without any of the classic lines of the 240/260Z
  2. Its not my style or place in life to be telling other humans wot to do or not do.. but I have to say as an experienced performance car driver that running a 205 section tyre on a 230BHP heavy Jap sportscar is not advisable(and may be verging on the unsafe) The Stock Nissan spec was 225 all round for Japan with its low top speeds and 225/245 for Britain/Europe where M way /Autobahn speeds and distances are used. Dont be mislead by my post about using 205 tyres on 200sx wheels. I only fit these for drag racing for the reasons stated above. I drive to the track like Miss Daisy due to their unsuitability for normal road use on a 300ZX. As always. IMHO and no slur /offence intended.
  3. The way the bleed valve on the slave is angled in relation to the feed pipe means the potential is there to leave a trapped air bubble in the cylinder.
  4. Indeedy! And I use 200sx fronts cos they are narrow and hence lighter and since they only have 205 section tyres they have less rolling resistance. BUT ...." Dont try this at home" :nono: Its only for going 1/4 mile in a straight line! The rest of the time I have 8.5"Azevs with 245/40-18s on. You do notice a difference! ;)
  5. Best get that fooked engine sorted first!! And that gearbox, and them leaky targas(Ive still got them nice shiny non rusty import ones!!) :smash:
  6. dont forget to find the zip at the top. the ends are taped down so you cant find them!!! ;)
  7. Just wait patiently like a good boy then!!!! :slap:
  8. not too far. Tell ya wot .. Bring your little group of peeps down this time. then maybe we can come up to Chesterfield area in Dec or Jan
  9. FURTHER UPDATE. Good progress on this. Firstly the spec has been increased to 50mmOD 2mm wall. The reason for this is that the factory doing the job has now acquired some 50mm "formers". So the boss has bought some 50mm tube for me. Cost increase is minimal but both appearance AND strength is improved. I have just had the prototype today and i must say I am well impressed. To fit in a trimmed shell we just need a small re design which I have measured up for today. However in my stripped out slick top it is virtually perfect. So the prototype is mine. I have shortened the legs to suit. Virtually no gap between car and cage. I will be doing a semi weld in job with this one and a certain other slick top TT owner in this part of the world will be having the same. Getting in from his wheelchair will be no problem. I will just shove him in!!! However I do appreciate that most of you will be using trimmed shells so the proper production model will be made that way. I will keep the "prototype" pattern on file tho so anyone else wishing a very tight fit cage with trim removal can order one. Cost will be a little more as set up costs on the bender will need to be met each time a one off is made. Pictures should be available soon of the cages installed in... A. a stripped out slicktop. B. a trimmed 2+2 targa. Lastly ... informally we have spoken of a single hoop CHROMED. The ULTIMATE in Drift style Bling   Functional but beautiful !! It is possible.. I know a man... who can... Question is... Who wants one??????
  10. Just be patient....one at a time!!! :smash: ;) ;) ;)
  11. UK rears which are the wider ones have a series of re inforcing ribs on the inside face of the wheel. They can be seen even when the wheel is on the car. ;)
  12. Try Mike at MJP in the traders section. imported from the US by him and come with proper renewable circlip UJs.
  13. Yellow Pages is your friend. ;) Car Trimmers & Upholstry. is the section. ;)
  14. Only one man has a real 8 second slip. :) Check out the Z Club Hall of Fame. ;) ;)
  15. AFAIK you will need to swap over the upholstry. Both the metal subframe and the seat base are different.
  16. :nana2: :nana2: :nana2: :nana2:     . Right then! Thats it! Slicktops Rule. Im off to bed! Got a long drive tomorro ending up at Kelvedon Hatch So just behave over in Romford! :D
  17. Im with Daz on this. Dont! :smash: We got enough chavs around this way aleady! :D
  18. Well of course it has an interior, probably in better condition than yours, since its carefully stored in my loft rather than fitted to the car getting worn away :slap:
  19. "The fourth generation Fairlady Z was launched in Japan on Jul 10 1989. The new range boasted six basic models: a normally aspirated 2 seater with coupe or T bar roof bodywork....... etc" Taken from Datsun 280ZX/300ZX by Brian Long. Page 117. and further on he says... "At the end of 1996 the two seater models lost the T bar roof option and the convertible was dropped from the range..... etc" The 2 seater coupe continued right to the end of production in this form. So clearly the coupe roof or slicktop as we know refer to it WAS the model of choice. I rest my case :D :D
  20. i hate to be a potential prophet of doom.. but... the whole job may grow from a gasket job to a full rebuild. Just depends on what caused the gasket to fail and what extra(if any) damage has been done. £1500 is not a big sum of money in the world of Zeds, but it is a huge sum of money if you dont have it available. Sorry to hear your news . Make sure you take yer time before making a decision.
  21. got someone looking in to this over the winter. No further info just now. ;)
  22. they also use plastic pipe in their kits. :nono:
