any one got an idea of waht sort of labour costs i should be expecting for the exhaust removal and refit? i was assumin about an hour or sos labour. i was going to do it myself but theres just not enough space on the floor to get at the damn thing. if its gonna be silly money labour though i will do it myself lol. it needs cutting off tbh

exhaust removal discoveries.
after attempting to remove my exhaust which seems to be fused toighter forever. (ive decide it will be far less hassel to get someone witha ramp to do it for me) i found some little bits of surface rust, one penny sized chunk about a foot away from the rear seat. and a luittkle surface rust on the back of the sill by the rear wheel not into the actual sill itself. grrrr best sort that all out befiore it spreads! on a positive note that wa all i found. i even gave the sill a good poke about to check for soft spots

To break or fix???
stop breaking start fixing jim lol. youve got enough spares there to make afew of them by now lol. did you only notice it was teh rings last night? maybe its worth just running it for a while i heard pcvs can take a while to take effect. few hundred miles etc... you could always do a leak down this would show ring health??? in any event you still have a spare block dont you?

crystal clear rear lights??
the indicator sits square on as apposed to being at an angle hence th ereason it lights a direct square i think there shaped slightly different inside aswel. the red part is bright, and at night the orange much brighter and fully illminates teh section. however with midday sun the indicator part isnt stonking in yoour face bright, im tempte dto use an led bulb to amend this soon

are standard brakes meant to be pants?
i dunno some one told me there where as you obviously there sno engine braking, thats probally why the stopping power of the car as awhole is less i guess. which has no real bearing on the brake itself. i know what i mean lol

bottom pulley
well whatever it is its non ferrous. ie not cast or mildsteel. i whacked a magnet on there and it didnt even try and stick. the oxidation on the surface looks very aliuminum like to me. looks like i might have found a little gem :D

Kwik Fit warning
yup all the way mate time they started taking reponsibility their track record is awful!i had the garage swap over the spare on my van at work.(no time to do it myself...)anyways they informed me that the spare wheel carrier underneath had been zip tied on as the bolts to realse where seized. and the spare was flat to allow it to fit. the bolt would normally compress the tyre. i knew they wherent full of bull because i saw the zip ties when the car was on the way up on the ramps.

e bay z looks like prices are rising?
hrm, ive seen that car for sale previously. i def wouldnt say its worth nearly 7k i would say if what he has said is true and he can prove it, ie the rebuilt engine etc could well be worth around half that. which is quite a good price in the current market.

bottom pulley
guess il be whamming a magnet on it to prove my suspicion
-
bottom pulley
so having had a look down there a few times ive noticed that when i got mt new engine i gained a aluminium pulley. was that always there? is it standard? i assume its ali, im very used to looking at ali and steel and spotting the difference at a glance and it looks like ali to me

J576 XAN - Anyone know this car?
dunno the car but im sure it would be fairly easy to work out what the internal situation is by compression leakdown etc. have a detailed chat with the vendor and sift the bull from the truth, and you will soon work it out. if your not confient with it tho maybe its not the best choice for you theres plently to choose from
