  1. Recent smoke issues that my car has had, have come, gone and reappeared differently. Im now starting to gear myself into the reality that I will have to rebuild the block, due to the smoke. I believe that the whisp of blue on overrun is one of my oil rings on the way out. Being realistic I cannot afford to do an engine rebuild, ive thrown the best part of a months wages at it over the last six months, and with trying to get a deposit together it would beirresponsible and selfish to keep throwing money at this car. The problem is very slight the car still pulls like a train and recently got good compression, and has rebuilt tubs. I dont know if it will pass an emmission test nect year for mot, so I can and will continue to use the car till then. Next january. Nowits not 100% that there is anything wrong with it, it may just be the residual oil or something simole but I have a gut feeling it isnt. I really dont want to break/sell but ive had enough really. This isnt a for sale add, I will not sell it for ay least another 6 months, more of a public expression of frustration and face of reality. :(

  11. Ive got brand new pcvs, not oem though, I was gonns have a little look down the tubes tonight actially. If it was in the plenum though surely it would pourout on acceleation. This only shows on overrun on a hot engine.

  17. 250 miles now still got smoke on the overrun, possibly less though.
  18. how can you expect the fan to draw air efficiently at idle through the rad without the shroud to guide it, it will take the path of least resistance which is simply ulling it from all around not through the obstruction of the rad. get it fitted :)
  19. The boost gauge wont move from the far left much when stationary as the car doenst build boost in neutral, it might build like 2psi, if it wasn't working it would just stay at 0
  20. er...... gearbox wise, input and output shaft seals, the main gasket for front cover plate, gearstick bushes, trust bearing, pinion thing for the clutch fork, clutch plate, rubber boot for the gear stick and flywheel bolts. engine end, manual pilot bush, rear crank oil seal. You will also need a braided clutch line the long version this allows you to simplify the hydraulic lines a lot, and makes the process far easier. Gear box oil mt90 , it also might be worth checking the reverse light and neutral switches, as its far easier to sort it before you fit the box. not all of that is strictly necessary but there things to bear in mind/ do if you can. You only want to do it once.
  21. it is however worth while, doing a compression or leak down seeing's as its had a history of overheating and with the cast block and ali heads its easy to warp the heads or blow the hg.
  22. tbh if its been sat that long the exhaust is going to be saturated, probably rusted aswel with water in the rusted pitted metal, I wil take a good hard drive to blow all that crap out.
