Finally a z owner
Now he's done it, I think Alice works well for you.

Paint. Where did I go wrong.
Right. That's kinda what I'd worked out from what Russ said. I'm going to switch to a LPLV gun and have one more go. If that fails then il pay over winter.

Disastrous discovery! how bad is it?
Of corse it will be of interest.

Ticks all the boxes.
Maybe he doesn't want it to sell? Under pressure from the Mrs etc and has just set a price that will soften the blow of it going.

JDM rear fog
Having just been through this pain I can offer a reasonable response. The right hand pod the bottom wire I think you will find is the side light feed. Check this with a meter. Now turn it off. Link the side light to a cable which you feed under the dash and along the sill under the carpet, there's a few cables there. Up behind the quarter panel and into the boot. Drill a 20mm hole in the right pod somewhere discreet and fit the fog light switch. It needs a tale tell. I used this one; http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/LED-Round-Illuminated-Rocker-Switch-Car-light-ON-OFF-12v-Red-Blue-Green-Amber-/251170272304?&txnId=1850574087015 Wire your switch in. It would be sensible to put an inline spade fuse between the spur from the side light cable and your new switch. Take the drivers side reversing light bulb and connect your new cable to the live side of the reverse light. The earth can be retained. Now all you need is a red p21w bulb. Bang one very descret and legal fog light.

Your not a dummy Ash, you've obviously weighed it all up and decided it's worth it to you. That's your choice and I'm glad it will be saved.

It's a lot more than his sill and arches. I take it you've got stuck into this kind of this before? What you can see is normally the tip of the iceberg. That's going to be both sills, probably most of the sill. Both rear arches. A rear quarter panel. An inner wing at least, maybe both. A door. Various patch repairs to the floor pan. The panel bill will be racking up quite nicely. That's with no labour. That's a serious undertaking esp for a novice. Months of work fitted around work and home learning as he goes. Now I dunno about you but I can pull a zed engine in an afternoon. With both cars sat there it's gonna take him a few long days of graft. Like I said, it's save able but it's not finically viable. Your talking about a car that's worth 5k tops, if a shell can be found for sub 1k it's a no brainier. If someone wished to go the expensive route that's great and power to them but if your going to pay for professional restoration your going to need deep pockets.

Simply japanese 2016!!!
Well the show ground opens at 9am for us to enter. I'm going to check if this is the earliest we can enter though to avoid que problems. I suspect we will be leaving the meeting point at 8.30 or so in respect of this. Il clarify once I've got the details.
-
Way off the mark?
Agreed. Talking across purposes a bit there I think.

Simply japanese 2016!!!
In respect to the que's last year; "We are opening 2 entrances this year to try and ease the queues, however you may get diverted into a holding area due to the volume of traffic and depending on what time you and others arrive. Our aim at all times is to avoid people having to queue on the road and to get everyone in as quickly as possible." I hope that puts a few minds at rest over this.

What did you do to your zed today?
Treated her to a coat of wax and then gave the interior a lovely coat of leather cream care. This is how she looks out the window.

Code 34 - Can I use any det sensor?
Starting to sound like a factory manual that. Tell tales inc, unless changed anyway; Balance bar, has an extra tee off on the left Clutch hard line that runs down the inner wing Loom difference by the Hicas solenoid Looking further, In the inner wing, drivers side, there will be expansion tanks, an auto will have modifications to the loom. If you lift the gear surround there's different connections that will be disused. Lift the board covering the ecu's in the foot well and you will most likely see the auto ecu. A common one is when you start the car the power light flashes on the right of the dash. There's plenty of ways to spot a converted car. I wouldn't worry too much though. Once converted you have a lower duration camshaft in TT autos (Na autos aren't) and a slightly smaller turbo. Just means you will start building boost further down and peak earlier, in reality this isn't particularly noticeable.

Do you have some pictures of your engine bay, there's a few tell tales.
-
Way off the mark?
Running them is cheap, just leave them alone. The more you modify them the more headaches you get.

Code 34 - Can I use any det sensor?
That won't show your actual timing, just what it's supposed to be. You have to check with a timing light. You have deleted your Boost solenoids I take it?

Prrrrrrrr that's um, worse than I thought. I mean it's repairable, but there's many many hours in that. It's the kind of project you take on to do yourself because these cars aren't worth enough to pay the panel and labour bill on that. To be totally honest ash unless your prepared to learn to weld and do that yourself then I think that's financially a bad choice. Hopefully someone will take it off you as a long term project. Re-shell mate. Sorry.

Ferrari replica anyone?
How far can you drive that without getting pulled by the fuzz. Haha!

How bad is your current slicktop?

What did you do to your zed today?
Just a shame they aren't handed, at you get 40 or 22 offset. Some more arch more required.

What did you do to your zed today?

What did you do to your zed today?
What ever... The cosmetic crap is becoming less important by the day for me. If the right swap came my way I might swap them for stockers plus whatever it was I wanted just for orginality. Hell I'd run stock wheels if the damn things fitted. I like the stock car, it just needs pushing out and down.
