  1. Thanks for the feedback. Daffy - have narrowed it down to two wheels now, either Rota GTR Drift or Rota Grid Drift, but still have to decide size and colour :confused1: Quavey - thanks for the info, I guess if you're going to copy someone's product then it may as well be AP Racing Brakes! The fact that they are a little uncompliant when cold does not worry me unduly - I would rather that than the current situation, obviously. I guess there always has to be a trade off, somewhere. Could anyone notice a change after fitting big brakes, handling wise?
  2. Wasn't that the one where the baddies got away???
  3. Get ready for the "Look mum, there's a Ferrari!" kids comments!! LOL Didn't see a boost controller in that lot - or have you already got one? What the hell have you got planned for next year? 500bhp not enough eh? :scared:
  4. Ok, didn't realise the D2 and K-sport were so similar. What pads did you opt for Pixas? What I've noticed is, the standard brakes will stop you from sub three figure speeds pretty well - but only once. After repeated hard braking they're toast. I was wondering if these conversions suffer a similar kinda fade, but I guess its the pads that make the greatest difference in this respect and whether you can put up with the squeaking of high temp resistant pads? The more I think about it, the more my sensible head says chassis mods first. I'm not convinced my 235 section rubber will withstand 450bhp either, infact, I know they won't - they can barely contain 350 ish. Edit: Surprised you managed to get 5 laps from the standard brakes tbh SY, depends on the circuit I guess.
  5. Thanks for the heads-up, Murmur doesn't have a spec list or rides section that I could, so hopefully he'll see this and comment. For the record Car.mad has K-sport brakes - so still trying to find someone who can give me an appraisal on these D2's! Although I appreciate many big brake packages will have similarities, its always useful to hear from the horses mouth.
  6. This is a very thorough rebuild going on! Well done on the progress. T28's are going to give you some pretty impressive shove - be careful in the crappy weather before you go unleashing the full fury! Well done Pixas - bodywork very unique on this car and looking lovely after the respray.
  7. Where are you bud? Says cambridge in your profile, but guessing you're further away than a trip down the A14?
  8. It's certainly very tempting - definitely more bang for my buck, so to speak.
  9. Along with a whole raft of other modifications yet to execute on my car, I am also weighing up brake options. I was leaning towards the Akebono kit from Z1 which is 1600 (with my spec of options ticked) before import costs and duty. The advantage of this kit is the availability of off-the-shelf parts (the kit uses Infinity parts available through any Nissan dealer) at reasonable prices. The disadvantage is its only a 2 pot calliper and not a true sports brake kit, so may only be a fast road setup, rather than a track friendly one. I see now Japspeed are offering reasonable prices for D2 356mm 8pot front brake kits and 330mm 4 pot rear kits - 1700 quid all in. Has anyone got these brakes fitted and, more importantly, has anyone given them some serious hammer on track? I don't intend regularly driving on track, but I want to know they can withstand an hour or so of backroad blast. The final decision I have to make is whether to get all these chassis mods done first (which would be sensible), including a new set of wheels to fit those brakes in. Or, whether to get the engine finished first to release the full 450bhp I've been chasing (internals and turbos uprated, but still need to upgrade the cooling and fuelling). Decisions, decisions (daddy or chips?) Your opinions and experiences welcomed.
  10. Did you manage to get rid of the Galant in the end then??? ONly problem with trying to get a cheap banger is, unfortunately, there's no such thing. All cars are expensive, just to varying degrees IMO. Anyway, I think its fair to say that the championship medal has to go to the Blaxton massive. 3 zeds in daily use including the Bean?
  11. I heard some rumours about this on another site, but have not had a look - the general gist of the replies was: it was bad to start with, now they've made it worse. It'll soon get patched up, I'm sure it will improve. What you trying to sell on PH anyway?
  12. Mitsi L200 work truck Renault Clio for running around Zed for long trips and A-A motoring Before the Zed I had a Skyline too, which was what made me think Nissan's were reliable. LOL - they were the days.. [looks skyward with tear in eye]
  13. A man who prefers fact to fiction..
  14. That's a Lady Gaga if ever I saw one: looks ok from behind but... Jees, what a snout! In all fairness, I've seen much worse and black is deffo the best colour for that bumper. The rear 3/4 view looks really great - I'm liking those smoked rear lenses, I assume they are legal too? Wheels are pretty nice. Stick an '89 or '99 spec bumper on it (or any other bumper for that matter, IMO) and it will look pretty slick! Quite a transformation from before, eh!
  15. I remember now - that's the one Vodkashots had to weld a new front end on after he stacked it into a tree! I remember thinking at the time it was quite an ambitious project for someone with no experience with welding and the onset of Parkinson's disease - but hey, if it's still driving straight then he must have done a so so job of it. Just keep an eye on all the sawdust he stuffed into the gearbox too, it must be about ready for some fresh stuff now. Anyway, pleased you managed to find out about your car's history!
  16. I thought he/she was parked on 'our' stand? The bloody cheek, some people eh..?
  17. You must spend more time in the bathroom than my missus :tt2: Maybe you have irratable bowels or extreme constipation? Either way, I wish you well with your problem. I used to have a bog-roll holder that was also a radio as a student. Apart from, obviously, looking like a class item (which never failed to impress the ladies - "Wow, whats that?" "Yeah, check it out, it's me bog roll radio, innit!" hmmm, maybe i'm fantasising now..), it also kept you occupied for hours - and the bathroom. In my house now, I have installed 'acoustic walls' which port music into every room of the house, using the cavity space as huge reflex speaker. Technically, if I were to play the right frequency, I could demolish my house in seconds - but as I don't often communicate with whales, I have not yet stumbled across that frequency. Fortunately.
  18. Anyone had a read of Banzai this month (orange AE86 on the front)? 3-4pages on JAE (no, not the infamous forum thread, surprisingly), every car club looked to get well represented - the honda fan buoys, Evo stalwarts and Scooby club were all treated to nice big pics.. What does the Zed fraternity get? One postage stamped size picture of that tidy yellow Zed (sorry, can't remember who's now) from behind. Typical. However, on the plus side - there was a really tidy Z31 with a VG30ET thing going on, so there was a little to celebrate! Have to say, Banzai is a fantastic mag overall though - keeps me entertained on the long, lonely, dark nights - sniff.
  19. Dazvert posted this I seem to remember? I bet the guy who owns that garage is single. He just bloody has to be. Otherwise there is no justice in the world. Fact.
  20. I had black wheels on a black car (with a silver lip), then everyman and his dog started getting them and I really don't like them at all now (apart from on Dazvert's car, but that's different..). Its an opinion of course, but I am well known for having exceedingly poor taste. My girlfriend does not allow me to buy my own clothes any more..:crying:
  21. Crikey, what with all the fighting and Casanova antics, I'm really beginning to get a vivid mental picture of you're lifestyle...
  22. Looks very tidy Wilcoes, Get some metal polish on the exhaust though, you can get those bad boys looking like new! I'm liking the wheels too, just a shame they're white. On any other colour of car they'd look fine - but white wheels on a black car?? Nah, not for me. I hope the ownership experience continues to be a positive one!
  23. You've been trying to sell that for ages and French used car values are a lot higher than here. I'd say you're welcome to buy it, just turn up at my house with the cash in your pocket and its yours. Oh and leave it on Ebay until you meet him. My opinion is that he'd get as far as Sheffield and think 'Fook this' and wave the white flag while quickly retreating to Calais. Nothing to loose IMO
  24. No, it won't cause you any problems.
