  1. If I ever get caught speeding it'll be a ban not a fine :blushing: But, they'd have to catch me first.. If you are paying attention (which you should be when driving quickly) there is no excuse for getting caught. If you didn't see a cop car (you can easily spot the extra antennas on an 'unmarked' vehicle), then you also might have missed the truck which is about to pull out, forcing the car in his blindspot into your lane unexpectedly. Always anticipate the worst case scenario (apart from a grand piano falling from 15,000ft directly into your path) and drive acordingly and you'll find that there are really, very few opportunites to 'get the hammer down'. That's why I get up at silly o'clock to go for a drive, you never see many coppers then :sleep1:
  2. I've only ever had to sell one car, I wrote all the others off  Put in on Pistonheads - for a sensible price - sold it two weeks later to the first guy who saw it. Easy peasy. Yours should sell no problem Daffy, tidy, clean and well cared for - but you may have to wait a while. Good luck bud
  3. Fixed your original comment for you. Sorry, but I'm with Gary on this one - even when the Cerbera was new it was a ball ache. Have a look on Pistonheads for used ones and then see how much most owners have spent in the last few years. If you want a project, build yourself an Ultima and do the job properly from day zero. I have yet to hear anything good said about a Cerbera. The Chimera was definitely the best TVR reliability wise and even that was crap.
  4. Not being clever, but was the boot shut? I had an alarm that went off to tell you the car wasn't secure or a window was left open. No idea what make it was though. I still can't use the alarm on my car, goes off every time a bus goes past or a leaf falls from a tree. Fecking useless thing it is. Oh, that and a turbo timer that unlocks the doors when you think you've locked your car. Its amazing my zed hasn't gone walkabout already (fortunately, the immobiliser works even when the alarm isn't armed).
  5. Glad to see we're not patronising our newest female member! Which reminds me - I haven't made fun of Janus' (lack of) ability to park the Omega for a few days - must dash! Oh, and welcome to the club Rachel.
  6. couldn't find the right smilie so I made some up... :sidesplitlaughing: :crapspantslaughingsohard: :forgetstobreathlaughingsomuch: yada yada, you get the picture!
  7. Mmmmm drives a zed  Sorry, what were we talking about? :whistling:
  8. If Nissan didn't sell the Juke then all the stupid in the world would buy other cars instead. But by selling cars to stupid people Nissan can then invest some of the profit into cars which have been well engineered and properly designed (such as the GT-R). If Nissan actually make the Juke GTR then good on them, at least they have a sense of humour and maybe in a few years we get another supercar we can afford (but I'm not referring to the Juke!). I always thought the Shogun Evo ran the 2.0l turbo lump from the Lancer? Or is that 3.5l motor blown too?
  9. They're all as bad as each other IMO, none of them really care - if you've agreed a contract your bound by it (but I did think you had a 14 day cooling-off period , irrespective of whether you've used your phone or not?). Even though I've been frustrated by Orange many times, their break-down replacement is spot on - 24hrs = new phone. But then they rape your wallet whenever you aren't looking. They're all bar-stewards really.
  10. Yeah, I'm not a wide arch fan really, but I think those work well. Looks like a professional job, even if it doesn't look OEM. I wouldn't say it was a Leepu special, that's a little harsh I think! I think it looks a little like a 'vette with the rear bumper and quad exhausts.
  11. 300bhp - obviously has one of those superchips from Gonzo's thread - wonder why he didn't go for the full 400 though? 130bhp per litre isn't that much for a N/A car afterall, is it? Glad to see those fookin horrendous wheels found an equally horrendous interior to mate with. The only thing I would do that crock of shit is set fire to it - one less zed to worry about dragging the others down, IMO. Who spends 1200 quid on an interior (then obviously sells the front seats seperately to someone else), but can't spend 3-400 on a new clutch? Never read so much b0ll0cks in my life. Sorry, was that a little negative?
  12. Yeah its a good price - but it could also cost the same amount again in the first twelve months, easily. Depends how clean it really is.
  13. If I had to put a figure on it, I'd guess at about 8k not including the purchase. Personally, I'd rather spend 20k modifying a car than 20k on a car. Unless it was 20k on a modified car.. Thing is, I'd never save up 20k to blow in one go, so it's irrelevant. I wouldn't start worrying about what my car owes me though, its only small scale compared to what I've invested in my missus - have you seen how much handbags cost these days?
  14. I prefer to take my time and deliver a thorough solution, rather than you 1 minute wonder types!! :whistling:
  15. Sad, so so sad..
  16. Go into user CP Click Edit details (1st option) Then on the next page, in the second box 'optional information' put whatever you like..
  17. In 18 months of ownership I've never been over 150. If the opportunity presented itself I would be tempted, but I've never felt the need to go and find out. You really need to be absolutely sure your tyres are in perfect condition though - if you had a blow out at those speeds, the emergency services would be looking for body parts, not a body.
  18. Pick her up wearing one of these and they'll soon forget about the car!
  19. Repost. See Gonzo's post in the 'items for sale thread' - not sure if we should open that can of worms again.. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=154975 Nice motor though.
  20. OK, I concede you're probably right. But.. 32grand was the basic list price for the beemer - by the time you've specced some reasonable options (like Glass in the windows, steering wheel, air in the tyres etc..) it would easily be more like 40k. They were made in higher numbers too. Last little dig - the LC would destroy it at Indianapolis (ahem, which I believe is a TRACK). OK Game Over, I loose! :pinch:
  21. Think you missed my point a bit - I meant when they were new, not second hand values. The standard E34 M5 however, wasn't really in the same performance league, certainly in-gear anyway. OK, so the M5 was hand made in germany by obsessive compulsive engineers, handled extremely well on trick dampers and was the definition of understated beauty, but I still think we should be proud of the Carlton. Calling it MAX POWERED is a little unfair. Just look at the current crop of overtly aggressive styled cars in that class, by modern standards its quite understated. As much as I like these cars there's no way on earth I would want to look after one of them, they would ruin you financially in about 12 months.
  22. Yes, in the traders section :shifty:
  23. You have to remember what else was around when they rolled this off the production line. The super-powerful saloon battle hadn't really started in Germany and here was an essentially British motor hitting 176mph on the autobahns (I remember seeing the article in Fast Lane mag). I'm pretty certain those guys from Hethel wouldn't have allowed any car wearing the green and yellow badge to 'handle like a barge' as Lotus' reputation as a manufacturer existed nearly exclusively on how their cars handle (well it certainly wasn't build quality or reliability). If you wanted anything from Germany which could keep up you'd have to look at AMG (before they went in-house at Mercedes) or Brabus - both of which would have set you back an arm and a leg comparitively. For me, the Carlton stands as an iconic car which should be celebrated, not slagged off because a Merc E350CDI is infact now a better handling car and just as quick. People always say you should never meet your heroes, maybe this is a good example of that statement. If you ask me, the Carlton still looks pretty mean and definitely looks better in the metal rather than pictures. :gunsmilie:
