1988 BMW Dealership Left Untouched
Awesome, i bet there's a few people now trying to work out how they can get there hands on them (legally or otherwise). Bagsy the blue 635 (always loved the shape of the old 6 series, shame the new one is such a fat barge-like thing). Good find Sudesh!

santa pod video
Finally, I've just been able to watch the video as a proper internet connection has been restored at work!! I think I must be over-tired because, to me, it looks like a VW Jetta (3rd generation) opening a can of whupass? Surely not? no wonder the Dub scene rocks! Think I might try fitting a 1.8i 16v engine in the zed on the basis of that performance! To hell with this twin turbo V6 nonesense!

Probably a re-post but made me laugh
A hoax really? Wondered who had been driving my car 2 days after I left the country! And it was down in the South West somewhere (miles away). ANd it was only 73 mph - I would ahve been going much quicker! Didn't want to ruin it for other people - but seems the thread has been busted now. Oh well!

Thats a really useful tool - I'll definitely be taking it a bit easier from now on. You don't even realise they're watching you. Crafty fookers. :whistling:

gun club's
Thought you Landaners were taught how to use firearms at school? I've been to a gun club a few times - great novelty value the first time you go - then you realise you're not allowed to shoot anything thats living and it looses its appeal. Still well worth doing - even if it only teaches you the basics. Firing a handgun as quick as you can pull the trigger is always a laugh - especially when you realise you haven't hit a god damn thing! Personally I prefer shooting real stuff that you can skin and eat (like small children and dogs). Nothing better than the taste of a rabbit that you've shot and skinned less than 20 minutes ago and cooked on a few hot rocks in a fire. Brings out the caveman in you!

Hi All
 thanks, but that's not actually the case! Like many people, I talk a lot but actually know fook all! I am trying to learn though! Regarding the car, I didn't even take it for a test drive (which was pretty stupid). I'd already looked at a few other zeds and for the money the dealer in Birmingham was asking the car should have been a minter (4.5k about 18months ago). It wasn't shabby, the engine seemed smooth and the body straight - it was just the little things that bothered me. The biggest reason why I didn't buy it was because of the dealer. He fooked me about for 5 hrs - he told me to come at 11am and the car didn't turn up til 5pm. Not only that, but another guy on the forum (tescobag - username) was there and the dealer told me I couldn't buy it until the other guy had test driven it? WTF? Have you ever heard a dealer telling you, you can't buy the car? I mean really, some people - FFS! If the car was perfect then I would have bought it, but it wasn't as described and I was looking for a reason not to buy it! Doesn't mean you've got a lemon though. I like the wheels!

Full throttle upshifts?
Thanks bob, I was hoping you would see this! Is 4500 the perfect speed for each ratio, or could you tune it to whatever revs you wanted in any particular gear? Do you find it brutal, or does it actually make it a sweeter change?

At 120mph you travel 165ft a second - so yes, I can see what you're on about now. A second doesn't sound like much, but 165ft (or thereabouts) is a 'huge gap' on the drag strip. I'm getting there.... slowly!

Hi All
Speakers! The car I looked at was the same as yours, but it didn't have a spoiler on the back. I was thinking it might be the same car though as those wheels are pretty distinctive and not very common. The only thing I can remember about the car (other than the colour and the wheels) was that it had a cloth interior with with 6x9 speakers in the doors!

Hi All
Hi Harby, Nice looking motor - definitely the best colour for a zed :whistling: I think black zeds with the rear windows tinted black look particularly amazing, though I can't think why! I like the wheels too. I had a look at a car in birmingham with wheels like yours - tell me, does your car have 6x9's in the doors? And are they a different colour on each side?? Just wondering.. Is it manual or auto?

Full throttle upshifts?
I've heard a few people talking about these recently and I'm a bit confused. How does a full throttle upshift in a 3 pedal manual work? Do you keep the throttle pinned (I'm assuming so) push the clutch and slip the next gear home and then...? What happens next? Its not possible to engage the next gear without the engine speed dropping (unless the car has sufficient power to instantly spin the wheels to match the engine speed)? It all sounds a bit harsh on the transmission to me? How do these fancy ECU's match the transmission and engine speeds without putting undue stress on the gearbox and shafts etc? Also how much of an performance advantage is gained from such a system? I know there are a few semi-auto & SMG 'boxes on the market that can do this now - my mates M3 has the SMG - but it seems brutal as hell between 1st and 2nd. The thing is, they were developed from the outset with this in mind, whereas with a Zed you're asking a high tech question from a relatively low tech device? I'm sure I've missed the point somewhere..

Speed Limiter
The first time I hit the limiter in my R32 I thought something was wrong! But after a bit of forum chat I realised it was nothing to worry about. The speed limiter shouldn't do anything violent because at speed that would be dangerous - car manufacturers spend millions on details like that. Then again, if you're going full chat when you hit the limiter, the effect will be more pronounced - especially given these cars are still accelerating pretty hard at 180 km/h or 112 mph. If your limiter is still in place then, hperthetically, you'll be limited to 180 mph. I've never had the balls to try it!

New 300z TT auto owner. few probs!
About 160 psi is about right iirc. Anything close to that figure and you're fine. If its much less then you know you have issues. Can't remember what my results were exactly, but 2 cylinders were well below 100psi. Hence why the dipstick got pushed out when I booted it. It was possible to drive without popping the stick out, but only if you drove like a normal person. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it isn't a compression problem for you, as its expensive to put right. Then again, oil seals in turbos aren't exactly straight forward either. No point jumping to conclusions yet though - if you ever need a professional's opinion, I highly recommend Jeff at Zedworld and 'Jimmer' our forum engine expert (well, make that anything Zed related actually). There's a lot of very knowledgable people on here!

New 300z TT auto owner. few probs!
Not wanting to be too pessimistic, but I had a dip-stick out problem. It was caused by my piston rings failing. If you have another problem with the dipstick coming out, then you should do a compression test ASAP to confirm if it is a problem. When my did it, you couldn't see anything behind me, it was like Batman's smokescreen on the Batmobile :batman: If its just a one off then, hopefully, you will be OK. Good luck getting your car back to full health!

anyone got a garage/ lockup they wanna rent in manchestet
Footman James are fickle fookers. They insured my Sierra on a Classic policy, no problem. When I asked a few years later about the Zed I was told it HAD to be garaged. Obviously one rule for some, another for others. Either that or they just didn't want my business?

am i missing the point

New 300z TT auto owner. few probs!
Hi Joshy welcome to the club, I havn't any experience of auto boxes, but is it an import or a UK car - I believe it makes a difference to what functions the auto box has. Are you sure you are not refering to the power hold button as opposed to the o/d off button? Just checking. I'm sure someone with experience will be able to help you Post some pics of your car up in the Newbies section too!

More Facking Problems!!!!!
Can you not jack the corner up which is making the noise and spin the wheel to see if its the disc? If the steering felt fine before, then try taking the spacers off and see if that fixes the problem. Spacers change the geometry of the suspension, but I'd be surprised if the effects on modest spacers were that noticeable. Could be.. edit - right, you can't take the spacers off..

With the exception of the SLR, what you're saying is correct - most of those cars weigh less than a satandard Zed. But the SLR has an auto gearbox which probably makes up for its lardy-arse-ness and meagre (580-ish) power output. Bob's Zed is a SWB Slicky pushing well over 600bhp, so you would expect it to be on level terms with even the really exotic cars of this world (unmodified ones, that is). Have a look in the dyno section for his last dyno session result. If you only ran a 13 sec qtr mile with 500bhp, how on earth can it be possible for a stock car to do it in 14secs? I know you said diminishing returns but thats crazy.
