really really sorry to ask again advice
violence is not something that should be shouted about on the internet. Real hard men don't go around telling everyone how hard they are. People just know. Its unbecoming gents, give it up.

Intermittant Power sterring prob
Sorry, should have said - you can feel the power steering cutting in and out when it happens. Although its not very often I'm turning the wheel at that speed, but on occasions.. :whistling: Is the steering not just heavy because you are trying to fight against the pump? I.e if you removed the power steering sytem it would actually be easier to turn than with a non-working PAS setup?

tt uk and jap spec differences help
The turbos should have a marking which is different between the auto and manual turbos I believe. If you tell Yowser the number, he'll probably be able to tell you who made it, what he had for lunch that day and what name his dog was called. He's good with things like that! Ultimately it won't make a huge difference either way, as said before.

A bit disappointed
Do not get hung up about having the fastest car on the road - there will always be someone faster than you. Just choose your battles wisely and always expect to loose - that way you'll never be disapointed!

winter advice
Ah, a man with no sentiment whatsoever. It's a good job not everyone is as cold and clinical as you CoolQ! Otherwise it would feel like winter everyday! Only kidding :tt2: If I was storing my car for winter, I wouldn't go to such lengths as removing the wheels, but I would have put some extra air in them to keep their shape (although I should add, I've never flat spotted a tyre from lack of use, even without this method). If you want to change brakes and oil, then do it after the winter - if you're not using the car,why does it need fresh consumables? Don't leave the handbrake on either - although this is unlikely if you've put it on blocks.

Are you planning on stripping the engine down anyway? Did you get the turbos seperately from another engine? I.E if the turbos are from an auto, then the engine is also likely to be from an auto (although not 100% definite, but if there were no other modifications I'd be reasonably confident) Do you have any details about the donor car for the engine? Would it be possible to get some chassis details to check? If you are planning on stripping the engine, then someone like Zedworld would probably be able to show you the difference. I may be wrong, but I would guess it wouldn't make a fat lot of difference what turbo/camshaft combination you used. Turbos = fun. End of.

Intermittant Power sterring prob
Mine does this - not very often and with seemingly no common factors when it does occur. I remember reading about the speed signal sensor and also that chipped ECU's can affect this. Every time I pass 100mph, the speedo trips out for a sec, then springs back to the correct speed. I'm not sure, but I'm guessing they may be related. Anyway, steering isn't that heavy without the pump ya wuss :tt2:

How much AC weight ?
Does anyone removed AC for weight reduce ? - Yes many have How much does it weight? Around 20 kilos for the entire system How to do it ? It's a dashboard out job I believe to remove everything and then remove pump from engine. And is it engine works easer without AC? Of course, but you could just turn it off instead and keep the system for the summer. 20 kilos is nothing, unless you intend to strip huge amounts of weight from your car.

The old girl with a bit of make up on..
Sorry, couldn't find the pictures of your wife. Is the link broken?

And then there was silence..
Just read this on another forum. Helps to put what happened on the M5 into context, if like me, you get outraged when the police seemingly close the motorway to assist a deflated tyre on the hard shoulder. Anyway - it's difficult not to be moved by this story, have a read and see what you think. http://minimumcover.wordpress.com/2011/09/16/and-then-there-was-silence/

A bit disappointed
I heard that those 2.0gti engines are rated at about 210 hp, but really its more like 250! Also, some of the Mk VI golfs have 7 speed DSG gearboxes - even with less power, they'd still be able to keep you honest. Only one thing for it, if you want to defend your honour, you'll have to treat the old girl to some tuning goodies (and start driving like a man, dammit)!

Blast from the past!
Don't tell me you sold the white one? :crying:

what a find
You gotta admire the fella, but what on earth is he going to do with all of those? Except sell them individually for a huge profit? Crikey. Epic barn find.

Something I've been working on......
Wow, you must really enjoy a challenge? Just wondering what it is that makes you want to do all that, instead of just spending the money on tuning the Skyline? I mean, its a lot of work and a Skyline (in any variant) is hardly a shabby motor. I've heard of people doing similar kind of things with Capris and Cossies, but tbh Fords are like building with lego compared to skylines and zeds. I would love to see the face of the scooby driver who gets whipped off the lights in the wet by a zed though. Oh, I get it now! Hope it handles well..

really awful crash on the M5
Don't know where to start on this one. So many people display bad driving habits (myself included) these days, but we all think we're good drivers. The truth is we're clearly not. Saying lorries should be limited to 40mph is a an ill-conceived knee jerk reaction. Maybe certain elements of this accident were unavoidable? In the sense that; if you have X amount of cars, travelling at X speed, in X proximity, then the law of averages would suggest someone's going to get badly hurt at some point. I've lost count of the near misses I've seen which could have had far worse consequences. People living more sustainable life styles would help reduce the lorries on the road, but let's face it - until some event causes mass extinction, we're all pretty unlikely to give up our consumerist lifestyles. Anyway, enough of the bull shit. My thoughts are with those poor soul's who were injured and killed. Wrong place, wrong time.

Junior membership?
Hey Richard, not sure if it's because of which section you've posted in, but I could not comment on your other thread.. I'm all for encouraging younger members, but agree with Stellaz, that some of the content that we post here may be a little inappropriate for a younger audience. Not sure how you fix that and also depends exactly how young the young members are. In principle I'd be up for letting them join for free or a very reduced rate. I'm sure we'd quickly get suspicious if one of our juniour members started asking for things like replacement CPU's and welding tips!! Cheers

Car covers: An alternate view with GTR pics too.
Car cover in a garage? Really? Dust cover, fair enough - don't think you need a car cover though? I bought a car cover because I haven't got a garage and don't want the frost and hail and sleet and snow melting into my leaky targas, making my carpet mouldy like last year. I'll tolerate a few micro-scratches until I can buy a house with a garage and get a proper respray!! Car covers and wind are a terrible thing though - I found out the hard way. I still use a car cover, but I paid good money for a decent one instead of using the cheapo Argos one which marked all my arches.

Car covers: An alternate view with GTR pics too.
:detective: I'm not convinced on this one. It's true that contaminates trapped between car and car-cover could cause scratching, but the swirl marks shown in the photos are more consistent with some r'tard using a dirty rotary cleaner/mop. Unless the car cover was covered in sand paper, I just don't buy it. Anyway, the guy owns a GTR, no sympathy from me!! :tt2:

Black Import Z32 15.30 M1 near junction 39 (Wakefield)
If it was the 24th and not the 25th, then it could have been me on me way upto Scotchland. My car is pretty much standard apart from gold wheels with a chrome lip and heavily tinted rear windows. If it was definitely the 25th, then obviously, it wasn't me. :detective:

Black '95 2+2 in Wistow (Leics.), 2:45pm today....
Hi Peach, only just saw this! That would've been my final drive before emigrating south again, but was a lovely afternoon for it! Embarrassingly, I took it home and washed it again (that's 2 times in 3 days), then put it under its blanket for a bit of protection from the snow and frost. Typical though, I've driven the entire length of the country twice in 5 days and no one spots me, then a few miles from home someone sees me! Anyway, thank you for helping me realise this dream of mine and finally get a mention in this section. That's another one I can wipe off the 'bucket list' now! What were you driving? I didn't see your Zed!

You can only do this when you're single? I know it helps relieve tension, but I didn't think it was the law! LOL, enjoy doing activities, especially by myself.. :xxx:
