Z fails MOT
Same applies then. If your car is pre 1/5/95 and not listed in the ANNEX then it only goes through a basic emissions test

Z fails MOT
And here's the Nissans listed in the Annex. - - - Updated - - - Apologies for poor pic quality. Photobucket seems to have reduced quality. I'll re upload from my laptop later tonight.

Z fails MOT
Testing standards in the UK are rapidly going down hill. I had to spend almost an hour a couple of weeks ago explaining that failing my Zed on high idle Co emissions was horseshit as it wasn't on the Annex and thus not required to have a modern test. I had to drag out a copy of the VOSA guidelines on Emissions testing and point to the relevant sections.

What did you do to your zed today?
Should have explained that I had some other work done on the car at the same time as the MOT. Also as I am at work, and the car is 300 miles away, a chunk of the money was for collecting the car on a trailer and returning it to my house on a trailer.

What did you do to your zed today?
Put a fresh MOT on her today (only cost £400 and an hour of my time explaining to the tester over the phone why he is putting the car through the wrong emissions test).

Look what I bumped into today.
I took these during my first visit a few years ago. They're currently doing a massive investment in reintating the start/finish line.

Look what I bumped into today.
I was only there a few weeks ago. Well worth a wonder round if you get chance. They also allow classics and modern classics to park on the inner grounds with prior arrangements.

Japspeed decats - are they just wrong?
I had them fitted to mine and they had a massive dint hammered into the drivers side From what I was told an Auto has a slightly different shape underneath and as such, if you car was originally an Auto then it needs adjustment. If your car is a manual from factory they fit fine (not sure how much truth is actually in that).

The rarest thing in that picture is finding a parking space at a dealership (of any Marque!)

Reconditioning turbos - recommendations please
There's a place in Darlington that has a good reputation for rebuilding turbos. Turbo Solutions or something like that.

Paint Correction
Looking forward to seeing your results as I have never rated Megs stuff. I've always went with Menzerna and Lake Country pads. Followed that with a decent glaze (poorboys black hole) and then topped with Natty's Blue Wax (or Dodo Juice Supernatural). Get some Nanolex trim rejuvenator for your black plastic trim. Brilliant stuff.

Recommend me an alarm/immobilisor
Currently the 300 has a Thatcham Cat 2 immobiliser fitted. It had it when I bought the car, and in all honesty I have never been happy with it and having looked at the wiring for it, it has clearly been installed by a complete muppet. As such I am looking to rip it out and replace it (although I will get someone to do it for me to ensure the cert gets signed etc). SO what do people recommend? I don't need a tracker, just a half decent kit.

Reinstating an SRS steering wheel...
I have the 96 FSM thanks Andrew. You hit the nail on the head - don't want it fitted and have a random electrical charge set it off. Regarding MOT - I have a friendly MOT tester.

Reinstating an SRS steering wheel...
When I bought my 300 it had in a Momo Race wheel which I just never got on with. As a temp measure I installed a 350z wheel that I had spare from my Z33 ownership days. It's worked fine, but I always wanted to put in a Series 4 wheel as was original to the car. Anyways, I now have a Series 4 wheel. This is where the problems begin.... I know that the "AirBag" warning light from behind my dash cluster has been removed (guessing when Momo wheel was installed). And some of the spiral wheel wiring has been *******ised. That's fine, I can sort the wiring out. Problem comes when not knowing if the crash sensors are all working ok. I don't fancy putting in a SRS airbag, just for it to go off as soon as I put power onto it. Now the Z33 wheel I put in, the airbag module simply unbolted from the centre and was disposed of in the correct manor. But looking at the back of the centre pad of the 300zx wheel it appears to be riveted in place except for 4 nuts which appear to hold on the very centre of the airbag (pics in this thread: http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?183774-Series-4-Airbag-Steering-Wheel) So if I remove those 4 nuts, would I be able to lift out the explosive part of the airbag module and dispose of, or is it more complex when that centre part is removed (I wont to make sure I get this right so I don't make a mess of £100 of steering wheel!). Just to be clear - I'm not bothered about having the actual airbag working. I merely want the Series 4 wheel in place.
