  1. It's very rare insurance companies forcefully take your car, you can usually opt to buy it back at the worst-case-scenario. They won't fix it though, there's no point pleading because it won't happen unless it's financially viable for them - that's all that matters mate, nothing more or less than the cash value. I'd look into sourcing a breaker and once you've found out what's broken, fix it yourself but expect it to cost you up to 1.5k after paint etc.
  2. What a beautiful car, used to have a 180sx in that colour it really pops in the sun, stunning mate!
  3. wraps look shite, end of. It's always boggled my mind when people wrap top end luxury cars, they couldn't cheapen it more if they tried... the only viable wrap in my eyes is chrome or chrome gold, an effect you'd struggle to replicate with paint - otherwize paint always looks better and isn't all that much more expensive.
  4. I can, but probably be better once it's lowered and alignment sorted so you can get a true representation, im pretty sure they will sit just past the arch squinting at it. 18x10 et22 rear, 18x9 et13 front
  5. Much appreciated mate I'll check again - it's hard to tell because you cant touch one without feeling the other on your hand. I'll take it apart and test it in some hot water see what happens. Anyhow today wasn't a complete waste, I managed to trial fit up the bumper and it looks decent - it definitely needs the twinz lower lip to finish it off (the smooth v1 one, not the seat-leon style gapped one). Still can't decide on if a FMIC would look meaner stuffed in there lol. @Pebkau you can see the ganador's fitted thanks so much they are perfect! :)
  6. Hmmm it might be the rad expansion bottle then that would make sense. One thing that's got me since owning the car is it's impossible to fill the raditator up. It always goes down to just below the top radiator hose level, and once you run it it burps down to 2/3 full. I've sat burping it for over 2 hours before and it wouldn't go higher.. I know already this isn't normal but any idea what a likely suspect could be? Also the coolant hoses situated around the bay were all scalding hot, but the bottom hose wasn't anywhere near as hot as the top hose - which makes me think thermostat not opening but would that cause her to overheat? I don't know why im trying to kid myself I have a funny feeling ill be replacing headgaskets soon, I've had a few other tell-tale signs before too, strange idle, bubbling sounds through the matrix, heater sometimes blowing hot, sometimes blowing cold and taking a good 15 miles before up to warm, it cuts out when giving her welly around 6k, pleanty condensation out the exhaust constantly.
  7. What a wonderful day.. fitted my HKS SS BOV's for a bit of retro goodness and for the first time since I've been home got the car ready to drive, so I let it idle for 20 minutes or so, viscous fan working a treat..... come back and see the temp gauge NOT far off the top. Not impressed.. so I turn it off, and there's steam coming out various points of the radiator (lower down I can't see), but because it's a thick aluminium one I cant touch the bloody thing for a while.. There's water dripping out the bottom front but it's clear and cold so I assume something to do with the air-con perhaps? Also it could be running from anywhere.
  8. I know they aren't a registered trader on here, and we all know they are a little on the pricey side but I was very impressed today by the personal customer service - had a chat with Luke last night as I was urgently requiring a couple of bits to get my car on the road - and one part woudn't be in for 3-4 weeks; so rather than hold the order up we agreed to cancel that part and I'd re-order it a later date. Now this is where I was impressed, he made it clear that he would be going abroad today on his weeks hols and nothing could get done until the following Monday business-wise which I was cool with, everyone needs a break! I explained I could really do with getting my car back on the road, but it was no worries to wait a week. Then I get an email today saying that he'd driven to the post office (rather than use his door-stop courier) and sent the items special delivery so they would get with me this week. How many companies are around these days that offer that kind of service, espeically for a customer with a relatively small order? Big props :)
  9. Retro scene points bru. Vintage barn find probably... least £100 worth there ;)
  10. Came across a little surprise today when taking my front bumper off, looked at the SMIC and thought 'hold on, im sure stock nissan ones are plastic and metal' those look like nice welds.. *licks finger to give the plate on top a little rub* .. ARC smic's, now from my time as an enthusiast I'm aware ARC make probably some of the best quality gear you can get your mitts on. So this begs the question, do I stick with the SMIC's bearing in mind I plan to stay around 350bhp, OR do I use my genuine Border FMIC which also appears to be of very good quality, but weighs a fair bit more. Obviously if it was purely for appearance I'd stick with the FMIC, but I don't want to hinder the performance or response any.
  11. Good to hear! I don't want a 'hellaflush' car, just 'sortaflush' will sit fine for me :-D
  12. Christ I've seen less rust on some of the vessels I work on! Anyway, boring picture really - I have a whole host of parts waiting to go on.. I haven't been able to re-polish the lips yet which will be glaringly obvious, but I just couldn't wait to get them mounted up to see if the fitment is good... they'll be back off and re-split tomorrow for further refurbishment!
  13. If she's clueless take all the expensive mods off, keep them stored, then raffle it off on ebay or get a scrappie to come collect the shell and split half with her. If she IS clued up on cars, then just sell it - but as a project you'll be lucky to get near 1k for it regardless of how many trick bits it has. That's the brutal truth bud. Recently I got rid of a BB4 import prelude with TONNES of very expensive and very rare mods on it along with the 2ws rear subframe be for 30 quid and a 6-pack of corona. Breaking I could have probably breached 2k but it would have taken a long time.
  14. You should be able to, they are the hi-disc centres on the rear so have about 25mm more meat to the seat than the lo-disc centres which are up front. Generally speaking though yeah, id prefer not to go down that route at all :p
  15. Haha might be well worth my time :D at the moment however I have 2 phones and not one camera works between them! Pictures won't be exciting at the moment, it's a rusty Z (rare, right ;-) ) at stock height on some baller wheels. But the parts are amassing. @AndrewG just the rear face where it meets the hub to change the offset so it sits a little closer in. But I can give the arches a little tug. My plan is basically to have the car with all the parts I want ready - then fix the rust as the last hurdle, that way at least I can see what the end result will be.
  16. Sweet I'll get that thrown to f*ck. Test fitted the wheels today, I think they will sit just right once lowered.. a little bit 'pokey' for my liking at the rear if that's the term kids use these days but I can live with it! Rather work around it than have blitz wheels machined on a lathe. I was worried the front 18x9et38 with 25mm spacer (to clear the spokes) would be too much, but it acctually sits perfectly flush.
  17. Annoying you can't edit posts lol - the problem isn't global it's 100% local as it works on other android and apple devices (just tested a few to hand), have you tried typing in the direct forum link on your phone to see if you get the same error?: https://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/
  18. Yo Funky, go into IE tools>internet options>advanced>restore everything and reset IE then try and veiw it :-)
  19. Not to worry those were first on my list, got stock lights, a LED/black glass upper section to go with the VS spoiler :-) Even the stock lights look soooo much better you're right!
  20. Haha! I used to have some years ago on my old Z, it's strange on supras/skylines asthetically the proportions are correct (no comments on visibility), but on the Z32 they look a little on the small side from outside.. however, I just love the look of them! I'll see what like when they arrive. My reversing skills are an abortion anyway Jeff haha!! Question for you though @JeffTT, if you recall I had an issue with my speedo, I've only just returned from a 6 month stint and not looked at my car - but when I click it into second-ign before turning the car on the needle flies to the top, then when I start the car it slowly drops back to 0. Would this eliminate anyting from the suspect list such as the VSS?
  21. Struggling to get updated pics, and that's what everyone usually wants lol. Words are cheap ;-) so after a 7 month wait my veilside spoiler finally arrived from Japan! Delighted with it! I got a 99 spec front bumper and currently trying to purchase some Ganador mirrors. I got my 18x9 et13 and 18x10 et22 blitz technospeed Z1's and got the centres powdercoated BBS gold. Im getting some full wet-lay carbon dash panels for inside, black leather/red stitch gearknob/handbrake and gaiters, going to retrim some 80's Bride Brix in black cloth with burgundy centres. The grey cloth will be changed out for matching burgundy fabric and that will do for the inside - simple but tasty ;) Theres currently a personal steering wheel in there which is very nice and will be staying - but some god-awful impul pedals will be going promptly! Not my cup of tea at all. I got blitz SS dump-valves with hardpipes and a Border FMIC. Things to do: I want to change out my exhaust, it looks cack, but JDM ones don't come up very often. Have quite a liking for the twin upswept and also the veilside evolution.. Coilovers, most likely will opt for BC racing here. Then I will have to face the demon of the rust - it's a bigger problem than I anticipated when I veiwed the car and has started bubbling out the door etc. it's going to be full sills and arches replacement and a patch on one door possibly also requires some patches underneath. The colour of the car will be staying though I love it!
  22. I was able to back in 2009 haha not sure about recently, probably not! But was able to create a thread in the newbies section - now cannot, nor update my existing thread :-(
  23. Not sure if it's been locked down @JaiKai would be the person to ask but I can't send PM's lol. My usernames in red so im not sure if I've been slapped with the naughty stick for something? Help or advice very much welcomed!
  24. Im not very technical, but just looking at it simply: If your ECU is seeing the VSS signal incorrectly surely that would mean either it's the ECU or the VSS? Can you resistance check the VSS for functionality? Another possibility could be the Hicas ECU or any associated electronic sensors. Can you swap out a factory Z32 ECU just to see if it changes the situation as it would be a very quick and easy test.
