  1. Haha raging.. That's a very good tip for people going forward! Most cars to be fair it IS a dash-out job, so you can see the logic. I'm very happy for one it's not, means that when the job comes along I have less to worry about.
  2. Wheel fitment is a minefield buddy, you could get one wheel 8.5" et 35 that fits your car, and one that doesn't (due to spoke design/ caliper clearance) so never trust an online calculator. Essentially if going for 8's I'd recommend an offset between 10 and 30 (the higher the number, the closer inward they sit). A common fitment is 8's front and 9's rear, and with a wider width, coupled with the smaller calipers on the rear, you can afford a little higher offset. Best thing to do in reality? Find the wheels you like, get on google images and look up z32 + "wheels you like", then click on the one you think looks best and you'll often find what widths and offsets they are using - then you know it fits :)
  3. 10.5 et15 will fit on the rear, but you will need stretched tyres and a lip roll at the least - again it depends how low you want your car to sit. The problem with a lot of UK available aftermarket alloys is that they get the nice widths, but ruin it with stupid offsets that mean there's very little dish compared to what you could have (if dish is your thing) Ideally 18x10 et20-30 (if you want a "square setup" gives the 'flush' look without too much bodging. Generally people will run slimmer tyres on the front than the back.
  4. Price has near doubled now I think... I'll do some investigation first and see if I can get a hold of one of those testers. Knowing my luck it'll be something terminal haha. Good excuse to rebuild ;-)
  5. What does that set you back roughly? Looks like a decent bit of kit! Did you ever find yourself upgrading coils or not bothering Jeff?
  6. To be fair it was cool back in 2002 when the browser experience was slow anyway haha
  7. It's probably not optional unless there's a theme change available. It massively massively slows down the browsing session even on my fast machine.
  8. No harm in giving it a shot.. what's what you say new GTX2860's are essential maintenance items too? must tell the mrs.
  9. Why do businesses feel the need to resort to tactics like this to userp the competition. It's a niche field and so few people doing it, it's not like there isn't enough of the pie for everyone to get a slice.. But then on the other hand, you have to be careful making claims that he damaged your interior with no absolute proof as it could be taken as defamation. A disclaimer is a solid idea though! Protects everyone involved.
  10. Problem is coils giving an intermittent spark are also a dick to test conclusively without the aid of newer on-board diagnostics. I remember the PTU in skylines were known for failing.
  11. Hi folks, my TT has a very occasional miss, most often occuring when cold no worse on or off boost just hits now and again. Now I haven't had chance to go into diagnosis mode and check compression etc. but from my experience coilpacks are a known failure point on many older cars and the Z's of the age where it's definitely a likely candidate. So my question is this, can you buy splitfires for the Z like you can the RB engines? and see the PTU, can it be upgraded, or can you buy the S2 new?
  12. THATS the one... ooft, the only bumper nicer than the 99 spec imo. No worries pal :p mapping or scrapping?
  13. Cheers for clearing up. Both wize people none-the-less with good advice to give and take heed of :-) Alic, I've been meaning to ask do you have that Impul front bumper on your Z? I recall a silver one on here about 10 years ago that was silver with that bumper, looked delicious.
  14. Those Technospeeds are one of my all-time favourite wheels Richard. Used to have some on my r33 GTST, wish so much I kept them.
  15. Half the problem here is, hiding behind a keyboard has all but destroyed the value of a good face-to-face arugment, consquential scrap and the making up afterwards. It's just left to stew. Much better to have a quick brawl outside a pub, shake hands and carry on drinking together till you're both pissed. Saying that a bit of controvery does liven up an otherwize droll environment for those stuck indoors all night, bit like a soap ;) From what I read you've both given good advice, Funkysi (god I hate using forum handles) - you have many years experience of z owernship, Jeff - you've produced ECU chips and have years of tuning knowledge presumably so speak from a technical standpoint. The Original guy has found out what he wants. Now shake hands n make up guys, it's Christmas.
  16. Over-rated car unfortunately Si, as is the evo. I never had a P1, but had a tuned up STI Type-R 2 door with the adjustable centre-diff. Problem was my first drive of one was on a rally track and I was gobsmacked by how capable it was - sadly none of that transfed to the road. Pro's - front looks a lot better than the evo, rear not so much - I think the evo 3 and 4 had a nicer arse-end. Sounds lovely and purposeful. You cannot lose the thing, even with the diff at 90% rear it just won't spin with spirited driving. It's a ****ing brilliant daily driver which makes the right noises. Reliable. Jailbait still love a bit of it ;-) Con's - the bhp is there, but the torque isn't and there's substantial loss through the tranny. Feels agricultural inside. Andy Forrest / RGM insane builds aside, it doesn't pull as well as other cars of similar power. It's still instant wide-boy / chav in a cup. Out of it's class it's like the 3 primary jap contenders were never masters of all trades: Impreza: reliable, good looking and sounded lovely, but didn't have the performance on the road. Evo: Performs much better than impreza like-for-like, plesant to look at, but insanely unreliable and costly to maintain, makes z32 ownership look like a cheap hobby. Pulsar: Straight line would hoop either of the above, sounds ace and is a proper sleeper, but understeers like a front-wheeler without extensive diff and tranny work, ultimately the least reliable in terms of transmission failures and looks like something you'd be ashamed to step in walking down the park. If you haven't had one, I reccommend taking a drive in a mildly tuned GTST/GTT, it's fun, fast, reliable and sounds delicious. If you can tweak the looks a little more to your taste they are a decent daily. It's comparable to a Z32 drive-wise but I prefer the grunt of the vg :-)
  17. Single turbo's can be efficient you are correct. But an efficient single big is quite unlikely to be more efficient than much smaller efficient twins of similar design. Besides there another major issue here - it's a vee-engine - it makes the most sense unless you can put the turbo at the back centre of the engine (which you can't in the Z32) to stick with twins. Straight-6's have the luxury of improving room and workability by converting to a single, not so in our case. It just doesn't seem worth the immense effort to save a few quid. Anyone looking to upgrade turbo's for a good power-hike shouldn't be looking at it as a weekend job. Better to take the engine out, replace what maintenance items need replaced to ensure a long and healthy life of your engine. My NA SR20 was in an out a few times just replacing sensors etc. , it was easier to take it out and work on it than it was forcing your hands into awkward places - and that's on an engine bay with some room.
  18. Single turbo is a huge waste of time and fabrication, I can't understand how it's justified when 2 small turbos can get you insane street power with less lag. Unless you're building a full-on drag car, and even then there's plenty 1000+bhp examples running twins. People say 'but it costs less, less to go wrong', sure you have to pay for one more turbo - but that's about it really, not a trade off with the reduced lag.
  19. I wouldn't worry about tuning it, if money isn't a limiting factor, it's not any more expensive than a 2jz to tune - the engine isn't hard to work on either really, the engine bay it's in is what makes minor mods (in-situ turbo change etc) difficult. But its rare you extensively modify any engine (block work etc) without taking the engine out first, it's really very little hastle in the grand scheme :-)
  20. Good bet is to look up pentroof. They took rb26 and vg30 and did back to back mods, and the vg came out with more torque and power on a like for like basis (in the 550-600 range)
  21. Don't get me wrong- if I could afford and maintain an R33 GTR I'd have it in a heartbeat over the GTST, but it's no longer as practical an option as it used to be (another reason to hate the yanks) - what's the price now, about 15-16k entry?
  22. The r33 GTST is nearly as quick as an R32 GTR to be fair. There's really not that much in it Si, I've owned one and driven the other - saying that a modified later GTR is a beast to be reckoned with, but so is the expense. The repair costs for the transmission side are insane compared to the GTST. Besides any 4wd is, as we know, is not a real drivers car - Much like a wife, if it wont kill you by looking at wrong, it's not half as worthwhile ;-) Haha mate it's a tradey joke, everyone knows the sparky's rock up to site in Aston's. :-D
  23. tootling to the shops in your average 1000+bhp z32.
  24. It's been for sale for a few years that, got an email from Marumaru fam in Jap selling it - utterly insane setup from front to arse.
