bench testing shocks and springs
Different shocks act differently, gas filled struts normally self extend due to being pressurised, shocks that are solely hydraulic might not. Not sure what are fitted to the Z, i changed mine a couple of years ago whith standard nissan shocks and for the life of me cant remember whether they self extended. Is the resistance to pull the rod out similar to that when pushing it in, if so then the shocks are probably still doing the job, if it pulls out easily even for only a small section then chances are they are knacked.

More Facking Problems!!!!!
If thats happening I cant see the cause of the vibration being the steering rack. Could be a suspension bush or brake disc

Measuring wheel bore
oops too late :)

Measuring wheel bore
A quick google search shows the Pug centre bore to be 65.1mm and it looks like wolfrace use a 72.6 bore size. The wolfrace website sells plastic spigot rings, you have to give your car make and model, so they should fit if you order from them. I bought a set of alloy spigot rings from elite wheels for not much more than the cost of the wolfrace ones (about £30) so might be worth giving them a call

gun club's
I used to be a member of a local target shooting club. You probably find that to become a member now you will need to supply a couple of names as references. Your name will also be sent to the local police force who will do background checks.

Surely they are Z specific so should therefore fit, possibly with some minimum modifications

Not sure as yet whether I will be back by Wednesday, visiting my sister in Ullapool over the weekend then going walkabout in the Cairngorms for a few days, so a lot depends on weather, getting lost and at my age heart attacks!. But I will try and get back mate. No sorry I am not going to JAE, I did think about it but got too much on at the moment

Do any of you guys have a good Hicas ram on your breakers, just noticed mine is weeping. Infact do you have a rear subframe in half decent nick then I could swap out the lot !. Its either that or I go down the Hicas removal route

Mot fail then pass !
Do you use the garage for other work, might be best if you go back and get him to point out the items that he has identified. Might even be he has chalked the offending items, worth having a quick look
