  1. Its illegal if the seller does not notify the buyer. Trouble is he may not have been the one that clocked it.
  2. Unfortanatly Replacement hicas bushes are annoyingly expensive. It might be more feasble to sell your Hicas lockout bar (if its ok, it should be) and put the money towards the driftworks hicas kit which includes replacement arms and bushes. .....or go the NA rear end route.....a lot more work but potentially very cheap and a good performance upgrade too.
  3. Yep, absolutely, although I would not expect a sudden change.....gradually getting worse it should. Chances are its got a typical hicas lockout bar which retains the stock Hicas arms and bushes. Best to jump under the back and take a gander before taking it for a drive again.
  4. Welcome :) Post some pics of your Z...we like pics...more pics.... :D Whats the spec ?
  5. Original Plans were metal, but went into production as FRP.
  6. Only have a xbox360 these days, but not actually played a game on it in over 2 years. Prefer the PC for gaming.
  7. That makes sense, I remember ARC's going for double the price of the AVS's 2nd hand previously. The AVS's are a Bargain, cheaper than Z1's which are already very cheap......and ofcourse 2-3x cheaper than the big named brands.
  8. Only just seen what a bargain they are $450. It would be a crime not to buy them. Could of sworn they were a lot more expensive before.
  9. yep, they are a biatch. You can replace them with cable ties though.
  10. but then your going to have to define exactly how many units becomes mass produced....and how much is it for only a few to be able to afford. and is that the only criteria..... how about that Tank-like Armoured vehicle, the Maruader on the Top gear on sunday. That meets your criteria, but only does 70mph. Do we need to define performance figures....becuase then you start knocking out most of the pre-90's supercars that the 300zx is quicker than... ..etc..etc... You can see where this ends up :devil2:
  11. the term is an entirely media invented. There is no defination of a "supercar", despite what many people think. The 300zx was heralded by the motoring press as Japans first supercar when it was launched. Im sure many wont agree, but it doesnt matter, the term means different things to different people. I would simply refer to it as a High performance sports car and what many people call a supercar, are more like "hyper cars" - another anonymous term. The NSX is the one thats referred to the most as a Supercar. But last time this was discusssed it went off into a several page long thread with everyone spouting their definatative claim on what makes a supercar.
  12. He had 2, a NA and TT - Both 99spec, in same colour. Sold the NA to Gio, and is now selling the TT.
  13. Im not disagreeing, im all for 90's Japanese performance cars, but your choice of comparisons do not make sense. Your picking £30-£40k cars from Japan, and then comparing them with £10-15k cars. A better comparison would be with some of these German performance cars from the same era : Bmw M3, Bmw M5, Bmw Alpina's Porsche 911, 944 Turbo, 928 Mercedes Cosworth / AMG models

its completely inaccurate. Does'nt differentiate between Z32 and Z31 and their is no consistency with naming on V5's.....especially for Imports for example - I have 2 V5's for z's here in my desk, neither say 300zx on them....one is blank for the model field and the other says "coupe" only. which means niether show on that site, and thats pretty typical for Imports which make up some 80% or so, of all Z32's in the UK. Only way to get accurate info is to go on Chassis numbers.
  18. German or Japanese , without a doubt Both make well built reliable cars. German - more expensive, higher quality Jap - More for your money, more tuneable perhaps, advancing technologies.... .....although tbh both nations bring out technology and spec that other manufacuters only start to include many years later
  19. They should all fit Auto and Manual. As far as I can tell the reason the ones on ebay list for manual only is crappy quality control issues have lead to some not fitting properly on Auto's where the box is a little wider, so sellers list as manual only. Many have fitted those listed for Manual only, on their auto equipped Z's. Some have had issues, but then I had issus fitting them on my manual and had to bend them to get them fit. Japspeed, and similar are great value, but shoddy quality control.
  20. 7.7 litres for Import 8.7 litres for UK Thats max, some oil will still be left in the oil cooler, gearbox and torque convertor though. Level should be checked with engine running, full Details for checking levels and filling here : http://www.300zx.co.uk/cgi-bin/manual.cgi?list=ma&dir=&config=&refresh=&direction=forward&scale=0&cycle=off&slide=23&design=default&total=33
  21. The Dipstick (funnel required)
  22. stock rears are cheap, about £40 per side.
  23. Rear shocks then ;) tbh, 90% of the z's out there are suffering with worn shocks and suspension bushes that are waaaay past their lifetime. The z is a heavy car and eats suspension components. Very few Z's actually handle or ride anywhere near as well as they should. Even just replacing with new stock components turns a heavy, wobbly, lethergic Z into a lighter feeling more responsive sports car again.
