will the numbers tell me
Kind of, but if they are standard Housings with machined internals then you wont be able to tell (as per the sort of tubs supplied by UK Turbo manufacturers as Hybrid Stage 1,2 ..etc)

ah, yes..the Ebay Jobbies. Nasty and cheap. Although not convinced thats them in these pics. EDIT : 2nd thoughts, you may be right, I can see the mistmatch in the surround colour compared to the centre panel.

matt black super zed
Not 99spec. They would appear to be DIY converted 89-98 rear lights with Clear diffuser lense and then tint sprayed black.

I dont mind it, but wouldn't want it like that myself.

break discs please help
Sorry Matt but Chris is right  Its completely impossible for somebody to tell what car a brake disc if off from a picture. The only way would be to measure the Diameter, thickness, centre bore, offset and PCD and match it up from that.

300zx oil smoke
Rocker cover gaskets or Turbo oil feed, leaking onto manifolds.

Crazy question??
its not structural either, I cant imagine it being a legal issue. It will be very noisy and cold however if your going on the motorway

Got my hands on some 997 porsche brembos for next to nothing LOOK
Heat dissipation is the main reason people need to upgrade brakes, but its not usually the reason they do upgrade. Contrary to popular belief bigger brakes will not necessarily give you shorter stopping distances - if you can lock the brakes/engage the ABS with your stock brakes then they are already slowing the vehicle to the maximum grip that the tyres will allow. Bigger brakes are all about sustaining full braking over prolonged heavy use, such as on the track, and they can improve the intitial bite response.........oh, and they look sexy :D

Excellent Buy. Quite often see Porsche Monoblocks popping up on our Favourite auction site, and its very tempting. Number of pistons is irrelevant....that's just a marketing ploy that some of the low-end brake Manufactures use. Larger Piston size (more clamping force) Larger pad surface area (better force distribution and heat distribution) Monoblock consruction (less caliper flex) Significantly Larger Calipers (better heat dissipation) Plus they will run larger diameter and thicker discs for more clamping force angle and heat dissipation. The main problem with the stock calipers is poor heat dissipation and caliper flex. They will quickly warp a set of discs, overheat and boil the fluid with hard use.

How do i tell difference between a 95-96 engine and a 99 spec engine ?
There are other differences, Lower plenum design, injector rail and injector type, balance bar colour A 96 engine would be the same as a 99. The biggest changes were all around 95.
