Hi, Its a small world ! My younger brother sent me this pic of a black zed which at the time he told me he just purchased - lying bugger - turns out it was another zed owner in my area. So I told my brother to stick the guy on the phone to see where he stays and when he got his zed - turns out he stays in troon and less than a 1/2 mile from were I stay. He's a member on here although not been on much and I cant remember his forum name - anyways getting chatting an i mention this show we're all meeting at, after a we chat I'd thought i'd invite him along - one more zed the better I say! so looks like we both will be driving up togther tommorrow morning for the 8:30 meet. Anyone on here recognise the zed ?

if your no bothered I would just cut, solder then heatshrink them again for a profesional looking job! I did this with mine !

The bezel on my Guages are about 5 - 7 mil. The diameter for the hole needed for the guages is 52mil which is the the height of the gap in the lower din slot - so no room for a bezel unless your Guages don't have a bezel, if not they Would just slide out or in through the hole made to hold them.

You'll have a tough time fitting Guages in there unless you do the same design as it's exactly 52mm in height! That leaves no room for the guage bezel, that's Why it's fitted from behind the centre console as from behind there's lots more room. On mine I glued the plate to the centre console and fitted Guages inside then pushed full console part including Guages into place !

Just remember the guage mount from z centre is recessed! The gauges actually sit behind the holder, there is a 2mm lip Round the plate that fits from behind the centre console then Another plate fits behind the gauges! The holes you see in the plate are smaller than 52mm and Are only ment to see the gauges through as below ; Face plate. ---/..../------/..../--- Guages. :::: :::: :::: :::: Back plate. /..../-------/..../ That's a side on view !!! (if it shows right)

Think it's just slightly narrower than a normal din slot !

And 4 mil thick!

Mine is exactly 186 x 57! I've got a two guage and a three guage type !

Well swapping the plennum next week for a polished one so i'll get it swapped then ! least i know where it is now, so i'll unplug and check the connection is clean. cheers

Hi, I was lucky enough to get a consult at JAE by JeffTT, which when testing we discovered i've got a faulty water stat which was jammed open, also he noticed a knock sensor error when looking at the ecu which after was cleared and it never came back up so we dismissed it - however I purchased a cable to check the sensors myself and it keeps coming up so its likely is at fault. Simple question ! - wheres the cheapest place to buy and were on the engine is the sensor ?

Yeh, unless someone with a 99 spec shows up next year I might win the same one again !

yeh, Thought some closeups would be good since not seen any of the series 4 clocks !

Also managed to fix the front fogs too, not sure if there was a fault in the right side pod but when i put the series 4 pod back in which I had got mixed up with the old one it all started working again - not sure if one was at fault or maybe there are small differance between the two.

And finnaly after all was fitted and recalibrated heres the end results !

Righty O ! Its cluster time, today i stripped out my old silver zeds indiglow dials and put them in the new black zed, so why did i just not change the full cluster over I hear you say ! Well, Nissan decided to change the cluster in the series 4 which the black z is so the cluster from the series two wont fit, there physically different on the back and inside. Heres a shot of the series 2 cluster. And here is the series 4 cluster. Spot the differances ? The indiglow dials were stuck down with double sided tape to the originals so easiest way i could think to get them apart was running them under boiling water for a few minutes which worked great. Below is the series 4 cluster with the indiglow fitted, i had to mod the oil guage to get it all to fit properly but they do fit eventually, i just trimmed down the overlay very carefully as not to damage to out circuit on them which powers them up. Heres the front part re attached before I put the case back on - looking good so far ! And heres with the front put on too When fitting these back into the car I actually had to take the face off again then try to calibrate the dials again - luckily i've got a consult cable to see the actual guage readouts from the ecu.

Bets you spent less money at JAE ! £2 for a new cup !
