  1. Spongy lifters and i need these to be solid before the engine rebuild so stuck them in Diesel. Hopefully that will free them up, few days should dissolve all the crap.
  2. New head gaskets, down pipes and exhaust parts. Just need to sort my lifters and put it all together.
  3. New head gaskets and a few other exciting parts ordered from ConceptZ Should all be here next Tuesday, exciting stuff.
  4. Nice, Painted my block very similar and replaced all the freeze plugs too. I remember it being a fun game trying to remove them after knocking them inside the block.
  5. They can be rebuilt, but not the easiest to dismantle them. When they stay spongy even after pumped in oil the valve inside is stuck and they are working on the spring action only rather than oil.
  6. Working on the new build heads today, I removed the old springs and lifters then fitted the JWT springs and lifters then I planned to put the new cams in too but discovered all the lifters are spongy. After dipping them in oil and compressing the pistons on them a few times all the air quickly came out, However many of them, likely 10 are still spongy so not sure what to do at this point.
  7. I have a 96 too and when i took the pump out a few years back it was like new in there so surprised by its deterioration. Solder joints are likely fine as long as there is no damage to the cables but a reflow wouldn't harm it. Fuel pump ECU is behind the passenger side back seats, have you checked that, a spare would cost about £36 from Banzai breakers on ebay.
  8. Stripped down two engines today to the block to transplant a set of higher rated cams, springs and lifters.
  9. Calling it a day now, next job is to get all the springs out the new heads and replace them with the JWT versions. After that its just a case of building it back up.
  10. Heads now off.
  11. And now we are onto the main engine.
  12. Heads off, springs out
  13. Day one and we starting on the donor engine. God i've missed doing this blog. Cams out and now need to get the lifters out to access the springs, and cant find my bloody magnet.
  14. What about the actual indicator stock ? Stick the hazards on and wiggle the stock, also check the plug to it.
  15. When you cant find the bolt you need, spread out a bit, you'll get there eventually.
  16. need to fit the oil tree prior to the turbos and just discovered i don't have a gasket.
  17. Starting to build up the engine again, and can i find all the proper bolts - nope.
  18. Happy new Turbo day, Fresh out the box. Set of GT525+
  19. Turbos have arrived in the UK, delivery tomorrow.
  20. Took a while but managed to get them fitted as they were tight to do up each bolt nearly at the same time to get them fitted.
  21. Engine build has started again ! New manifold pipes arrived yesterday and spent a good hour pulling the old studs off for a slightly shorter version. These are AMS V2's, but they look near identical to the ones i have on a spare engine.
  22. And 2nd parcel is now with Fedex, dont know why they couldnt ship both at the same time. Another huge fee for import, this time over £450
  23. Well, Fedex parcel arrived, and we have 1 box with AMS manifolds and no Turbos. Never knew of a company to be so incompetent in there shipping process.
  24. Another customs charge from Fedex this time, although a 5th of what i paid to UPS. At least the new kit will arrive in the next few days as its already at Standsted.
  25. Just noted it's coming from FedEx this time rather than UPS. So I might call my credit card too and see where I stand.
