  1. This is my third series 4 I've encountered and they are still surprising me with subtle changes. Today I removed the inner plastics to get the bumper off and I discovered this mechanism. This series 4 has a remote fob and a boot popper but I didn't expect the cabling of the boot and petrol flap to be completely different. The cable also runs under and across the rear seats and comes to the boot from the passenger side rather than the drivers.
  2. Also dismantled all the interior of the tailgate so I can get the cables out and bolts slackened. Plan to get it all off tomorrow but couldn't lift it myself so just left it tonight. Lastly undone all the bolts and got the bumper off.
  3. wire brush on my dewalt and an hour later the battery area was all nice and clean again. Still got a bit of welding to do to clean up the area and fit the new battery tray but its looking much better.

  5. Didn't think it was that hard, I own two spares and many carcuses For spare parts. Just need to know where to look and grab a bargain.
  6. Owned two series 4 Zeds and I think they are great. Few enhancements here and there the average Joe wouldn't notice but some of the changes Like loss of the boost gauge can just be fitted as oem because the cable looms are there. For somebody like myself doing a full rebuild there a great base to work from.
  7. Sounds like piezo buzzer, it likely is the part that makes the alarm noises.
  8. Nope, Nothing I can see, haven't opened it either.
  9. Wonder if that's what makes the bleep when I lock the doors.
  10. I thought it was to do with the series 4 or likely the fitted alarm. My previous zed had the hole for it but no cable or module. The cable going to it are just a pair so not enough to actually do much, like a signal wire.
  11. Also started to wire brush under the battery area as it accumulated a lot of surface rust. Not an easy place to access with bulky tools so its going to take some manual graft to clean it all up.
  12. Here's another pic, the plastic behind it is recessed to its oem rather than after market.
  13. Few hours on the zed today and managed to get a few more bits off. Door cards, window trims, surround rubbers and also the mirrors are now off.
  14. So door cards off today and I find this little module. Never seen it before and i'm thinking its to do with the remote alarm fob. Any ideas ?
  15. Less and less zeds on the road and parts are also getting rare. I bets the people who are really into there zeds are stock piling there own spares, I know I do.
  16. Hopefully if I have time next week I have this list to start on: Remove tailgate. Remove windscreen. Remove all door rubbers. Remove door handles. Remove door mirrors, Remove back lights. Remove door cards. Remove rear bumper. Extra's : Weld up hole for battery tray and fit new one. Considering sanding down rear bumper to get rid of stone chip.
  17. Deja vu working on this loom as it wasn't that long ago I remember having the loom of the old zed laying in my living room while I rapped it in new loom tape. I plan to do the exact same with this loom too.
  18. Still at it today. :) Wings came off then I carefully dismantled and removed the main front loom in preparation for its respray. Also a lot more scrap to my pile as I removed the huge carbon canister and all the pipes for it.
  19. Few more hours on the zed today and managed to get a few more things striped out. Headlights All the intercooler pipework Intercoolers. Remaining pipework from the AC system which was stuck behind other pipes Also removed the old battery try which was in really bad shape and now needs replaced and a bit of welding.
  20. Depends. On the cluster carcus, I've seen a few different versions. If you can find the part to fit yours, likely easier replacing the whole lot.
  21. Series 3 and after are all the same connectors :)
  22. Simon, ever seen that version of the steering wheel ?
  23. 5.5k is the highest I've went. :)
