  1. i wouldnt have thought the type of switch that lights your fogs matters only the fact that you have fog lights . mine are wired into the front fogs . when i push the button fronts and rears are lit . all nice and tidy .
  2. look good that in the friut bowl at a swingers party
  3. sounds like battery or alternater problem
  4. did you manage to source what the wires were under your dash
  5. dont use a fork splitter as you will wreck the ball joint
  6. behind that wood is the engine ecu and all manner of electrical goodies
  7. its doubtful the car was imported as early as 1990 but whenever it was the certificate is only needed for first uk registration . once its on the uk data base you dont need to worry about a certificate .
  8. thats the thing with seemingly spare wires . you never know who or how previous owners have gone about connecting things . as a first step i,d put a 12 volt lamp on it to make sure its not live . if it is tape it up before you start tracing where it goes . my guess though is its an old feed for part of a sound system thats been deleted and just cut or disconnected . the yellow one does look quite thick so possibly could have been the main power feed . the smaller cable could have been the remote power as that only needs to be low ampage . its all guess work but a little bit of ferreting about and all should become clear .
  9. i reckon that could have been a feed for a boot mounted amp . its the obvious route for a cable to the back down past the bonnet pull and along the door trimmer . i bet if you take the carpet strip off that cable runs along the side of the carpet and into the boot.
  10. finally got round to changing the series 1 air con to series 2 today . i must say im pleased with the results and extra control it gives . the bit i like best is the windscreen aimed air via the economy button as opposed to having to use the air con to keep the windscreen demisted . that alone has gotta be worth an extra 1-2 mpg during the colder months and a few more available bhp. every little bit helps .
  11. i agree graham . its a no brainer
  12. they will fit straight into an import . the 6000k are whiter and attract less attention from the rozzers . 100watt bulbs like these arnt legal so you dont want to be grabbing attention with blue lights for another £20 you could get a hid kit . i,d go for those .
  13. cats hate the smell of onion . stick a bit by your plants and they,ll stay away .
  14. theres a switch under the lever itself . probably got a bit sticky and in need of a clean
  15. tragedies like this always defy reason . such a terrible waste of a young life. if the general public had the vote on capital punishment for crimes such as murder , peodophiles and terrorism im pretty sure over 95% of people would vote in favour . in todays age of dna testing the doubt has been removed as to whether or not someone is innocent or guilty . we need to rid the world of these people to make it safer for everyone else . my thoughts are with the family and friends of this poor girl . as a father myself you just cannot imagine the pain that this girls parents are going through .
  16. mine did all of this when i first got it . replaced the speedo for another and all was good . the speedo controls or has an input on the hicas and power steering . more assist the slower you go and more rear wheel steer the slower you go . also different types of rear wheel steer depending on speed . in other words if your speedo is no good all the other systems wont function correctly . the problems i had are exactly what you are having . drives you mad but an easy fix .
  17. the spoiler justs masks it . stick a bit of black tape on the tailgate to fill the gap . make it less noticable
  18. whats occuring with your zed mate .
  19. thats normal mate to have the gap in the middle . i suppose you could get one off a breaker and cut a section out to fit the gap
  20. i had a similar issue with mine . the problem was alternator related . power steering fluid had leaked into alternator and was playing havoc
  21. it could be . ive got one sat on the shelf if you need 1
  22. there was a similar post on here a while back . have a search through for arches and see what you come up with . should be a link to an ebay seller iirc. thread worded repair panel sourcing question. hope this helps
  23. as with all welding jobs they all look a bit scary to start with . once you get the first piece in place it will soon come together . my tip to you is get some card board and make up some good templates . when you have done this get your tin snips out and start cutting . before starting to weld pop a couple of rivets through your repair panel to keep it spot on position and then tak on . good luck
  24. yes them were the days . there was a strange thing back then that we used to do that the kids of today dont do . we used to knock on friends doors and play outside , sometimes all day long . good old days
  25. ive just had my first drive in the z for 3 weeks . these things certainly know how to put a smile on your face . for sheer feel good factor these cars are awesome . the only downside was the petrol station . £1.32 a litre for optimax.
