there is a lookup table for gear ratios on different models on http://www.300zx.org.uk. will try to find a link for you. bingo !! http://www.300zx.org.uk/gear_ratios.htm
  2. must admit Im a bit worried about the salty roads.... dont think I want to lock her away for the winter though! only just got her back! :) I found the hold switch on the auto was superb at stopping me from slipping around in the wet yesterday when I was driving in town, think I will be using that alot this winter! :)
  3. Dont think I can be arsed to take the bumper off until i get around to doing the intercooler water spray so I think I'll do the same, there is just enough space to ram all the bits and bobs in behind the headlights for now! they really are the danglies at night! was amazed at how much light and the colour of the light makes a big difference, rather than the warm yellowish glow from standard healights its a really clean kinda white, most noticeable is how reflective stuff like the stickers on police cars and the tape on traffic cones positively glows back at you under the light! Im sure it must add 10bhp having them fitted! :)
  4. awww I knew I forgot something, bugger... ill just get some max power stickers instead.
  5. Got it back so I had to slap one of the bits on that I had in the shed! chose the HID kit! only took 20 minutes, complete piece of cake and they are dead good! only problem is Im not sure what to do with all the various boxes of tricks that sit inline to the lamp, any ideas?? ive just sort of shoved them in for now.....
  6. Yup all the way from nottingham to basingstoke with no plate, not a rozzer to be seen ! :) forgot to take my logbook etc to get a new plate made up at the local harry halfords, will be getting a proper import size one done by the dodgy bloke at the market tomorrow though! like the tit that i am I just scuffed the front bumper on a kerb at halford! job for mr chips away there i think! doh
  7. not great pics and shes a bit grubby from the drive home and the wheels a rubbish.... but at least she's home! :)
  8. why not have an engine rebuild... just for sh1ts and giggles..
  9. have had those on my golf for a while, seem to do the job, not had new tyres for well over 10-12k. Of course a MKII golf gti isnt quite the same beast as a zed! :)
  10. depends which model you get with regard to the error codes, there is a chap that can be contacted via ukspeedtraps.com (might be wrong url) who from somewhere has got a LTI20-20 (same gun uk police use) cost me £40 for about 45 mins of his time to test my LRC laser jammer. no error was display other than the same one that you get if you point it at something that is not reflective enough (like the road) cant measure the distance and hence the speed. well worth the dough IMO to ensure you are properly protected.
  11. defo agree with peach on the VVC one being a lot more reliable (although I never had any trouble with mine but it was only a couple of years old when I got it and was pampered) the VVC engine is sweet but the rev limit is set stupidly low on the rovers (6800ish compared to much higher redlines on the elise,), all the power is in the top end with these engines so you never get to use the best of it unless you mod it. having said that I may be talking out of my bum, but i seem to recall a very high redline on the elise i drove a while back.. :)
  12. A stock zed tt that is! the rovers being made out of old baked bean tins and yoghurt pots weigh next to nothing. honestly a stock 220turbo would do 0-60 in 6 seconds pretty easily. I seem to remember it would fly up to 130ish without much trouble and then was a bit slower, hit the rev limiter in 5th a few times so they do get up there to 150ish top end too. you are spot on about the corning, too much gas and the understeer was fooking mental!! :) would just go in a straight line rather than round the bend!!
  13. saw one on the m3 yesterday, last three characters in the number plate were ..... wait for it.... POO :)
  14. yup nowt wrong with owning one, how the hell they prove you have been using it I dont know.... they will probably only bother trying to prosecute people using them when they become very wide spread and they start to affect the revenue stream from speeding fines (road "safety" vans being the worst offenders) when it dents the forces pocket they will start giving a shit!
  15. You may have a point about the 300 dieing out as a choice of car for every day driving, it is getting a bit long in the tooth for that (yup I know lots of people here use thiers every day but I'd hazard a guess that the number of every day cars is falling) remember about 15 years ago you would quite regularly see people driving to work in MGBs or triumph spitfires (or even a VW beetle)??? pretty rare now... not many are every day cars. We have all seen the number of dogs for sale in the trader every week and slowly but surely the numbers will dwindle as more are binned or broken. then all of a sudden we will all be driving around in a classic car!! :) could take a few years yet but the z32 has the right pedigree to become a proper "affordable" classic (IMHO unlike the Z31 and a lot of other 80's cars which I dont think will ever make the grade) Im fairly certain a good 240 would get the same or possibly more money than most of our cars if sold now... all IMHO of course :)
  16. the 96 on has the honda vvc engine (same as in the lotus elise) which is supposed to be bulletproof, but no turbo :(
  17. actually fook it, im gonna flog my golf and look at a stock one of these for an everyday driver!! :)
  18. these are actually pretty good cars, underrated because they are rovers, had one a few years back, completly stock and fast as fook, would keep up with the zed to 60  he's taking the p1ss though if he thinks he will get 3.5k for it!! I sold mine four years ago, absolute minter, 70k miles, 5 years old, and I got.... 4k!! worth 1.5k absolute tops, probably less.
  19. ChrisC is gonna be on TV, Mac was in max power (was him wasnt it?), somebody else was on location location, anybody else had thier fifteen minutes yet? to start the ball rolling I had the dubious pleasure of being on Bravo in a program called "mission paintball" a few years back which for some reason was endlessly bloody repeated on various sky/cable channels up until about a year ago...
  20. Sounds good to me! could be the birth of the Basingstoke meet! show the Mc'Ds carpark crew a thing or two! Dont suppose you are handy with a spanner are you? going to be fitting the EBC and some other crap in the next few weeks if you fancy getting your hands dirty?? :)
  21. Bodywork and respray is finally finished!!  Will be taking the train up to nottingham on saturday to pick up my good as new bayside blue zed! complete with new oem replica spoiler, '99 front end and new trims all round!! cant wait, Im even going to get out of bed at 6am on a saturday to get the first train up there!! :)
  22. now thats a good question! I've been trying to make my mind up too, some people swear by some of the specialists and others slate them all down to personal experiences! Best bet is to phone them up and have a chat with the owner and talk through the work you want done.. Alternatively you could take a leap of faith and do the work yourself! everybody on here is really helpful and there are plenty on FAQs and guides on the internet showing how to do lots of the jobs you are looking at! (if you are going for boost jets and an ecu thats a doddle anyway!!)
  23. I was a bit surprised! never seen a green one before!
  24. Shell service station next door to harry halfords last night at about 6:30pm!
