  1. engine was running a should have been good and hot, just did a 30 mile burn at stupid speed up the motorway and the a quick burn through some twisties. I think I'll get the golf running again and give her a rest until i can get her in for a full service with baggings. best to avoid any major complications or breaking down I think...
  2. actually not a bad approach IMHO, the crossfire is kinda of all right but also a bit crap, same for the TT and the 350z all good but not great, new merc is proper nice but its a merc so not everybodies cup of tea! ;) get all the best bits from the rest of the crop and they seem to have done a nice job! I'll pick up a five year old one for about 6k in 2009 I think! (nothing like the crappy residuals on mass produced coupes!) Bet it doesnt have 500bhp or a v12 when it comes out, my guess v6 250bhp absolute max...
  3. gutted, hate it when stuff like that happens. when I picked my car up from a full respray I managed to scuff the new front bumper on a kerb within about four hours of picking it up :( really gives you that sinking feeling...
  4. if you are looking at doing new faces for your dials it really is best to get somebody who knows thier stuff to do them, if you get it wrong you can kiss goodbye to them and have to go buy a new set, something to do with the little pins coming out of the dials, once out they dont go back in!!! Luke did a fine job on mine and re-did the speedo conversion cos mine was a bit flakey. It is however 5mph out over the whole range now but as long as i dont forget that when the old bill are around I can live with it :) (can be re-calibrated but I cant be arsed!!)
  5. hmmm could be overfilling, the oil level is right over the top of the measuring thingie. on the plus side its very clear and clean so im hoping that would indicate that the box is probably still in one piece... Ive had the car four months (and done several thousand miles) and never touched the gearbox oil before so it's always been like this, any reason why it would start spilling out of the breather all of a sudden? if it is overfilling whats the next step, oilchange and put the right amount in this time? or could I syphon out say a quarter of a litre at a time from the dipstick tube until i get a decent level ? thanks very much for your help!! :D
  6. luke at the zed centre can do this, if you are near nottingham or you could just send your whole dial cluster to him to do. from memory was about 140 inc fitting for a set of white dials (not the glowy kind) and a few squids more for the speedo conversion...
  7. I think I've got a very ill zed, driving home and I notice some smoke coming past me at traffic lights, stop to investigate and I think I've tracked it down to auto box oil dripping onto the exhaust, found a fair amount on the road after she had been stood for a few minutes and it's red so I think my gearbox is bleeding. Any ideas anybody? I think this one may be beyond my skills so if you read this baggins whats your diary like? The box still seemed to work fine to get me home but I wont be going anywhere for the time being. hopefully whatever has broken I will avoid a box rebuild....
  8. oooh me peepers aren't what they once were, (squint squint) darn these people with twaty fonts on thier plates ;) :D
  9. fook me if they can miss a firing range and hit a school on home ground what chance have our lads got in iraq!
  10. oooooooooh nice, whats with the 007 on the plate?
  11. Dont expect your motor to last very long using a 150bhp hit of nitrous!!! even with a progressive controller thats one hell of a lot! most people regard 450bhp as about as far as the 300zx engine can go without needing a full rebuild and better internals, some have had bad problems running a lot less. A 50-75hp wet kit is a safer bet (wet kits add extra fuel as well as noz to the mixture to make sure you dont run lean, so no need to fiddle with the injectors)
  12. Are you using google adwords? Dunno what the cost per click is like for thongs/undies. I use it for the IT security business I run and it seems to get us a fair few leads, expensive for the keywords we use though, up to 3.50 per click!!!!! some keywords are as cheap as 5-10p per click though. I packed in contracting two years ago now, thinking a permie job would give me more security, I walked on a guaranteed 18month contract to go to a permie job and was made redundant four months later!!! No such thing as job security these days I feel... :( "properly" self employed now and although its a bit more of a worry that things could go pear shaped with the company the lifestyle is a lot more relaxing and stress free.
  13. lmao, i had one when I was 17, thought I was the mutts nuts!! it was black and pointy, I even got the nickname david hasselhoff for a short while!! Looking back I was a cock and the car was fast and fun but looked naff! :D cost 1100 to buy back then and 900 to insure tpft!!!
  14. Ive seen silvia's kitted out with some serious mods for around 1500 and they are LOADS of fun!! look rubbish though
  15. its the best colour too! :D
  16. its a row of zeds and strangely enough not an aftermarket set of rear lights to be seen!
  17. will be interesting to see what the residual values of these cars are in a few years time, wonder if they plumet like z32's ?!?!?
  18. cool looks the fooking nuts doesnt it! :D would rather watch that than F1 these days since it's dissapeared up its own arse...
  19. a new filter wont make much difference on its own, its more of a supporting mod for boost upgrades and the like, i have a blitz induction and mongoose catback and the car is a little more responsive but not much. you're possibly just getting used to the speed of the car (I did) ! if i have to pootle around in the golf for a few days the zed blows my socks off when I get back in it!! :D
  20. Before you do any mods you may want to check that all is good with your motor, if something is slightly amiss then things can go horribly wrong very quickly if you start upping the boost etc. There is an FAQ on here with a list of things to do/check before you start modding. Strongly recommend you run through at least the basic ones first (ecu diag etc.)
  21. lol except those cheeky fecks all get around it by driving gas guzzling "SUV's" which for some reason dont count as a car!!
  22. do you have a separate switch for your rear fog lights? possibly had the front spots removed and the switch is now used for the rear fogs (MOT says must be a separate illuminated switch). Mine is a bit like this but the switch does both the rear fogs and the front spots which is an MOT failure, i just have to remember to remove the relay/fuse for the front spots at MOT time! :D
  23. do they say the car has to be garaged or off the road? problem I have is that all the calissic car policies I have tried say I cant park the car on the street, live on a terrace so no choice :(

did a track day with mgf's formula renaults(i think) and a few laps in an f355, was ok but not great, got told off for thrashing the ferarri! instructors words "a bit of mechanical sympathy please!" I found the gearbox to be a bit odd so I shoved it in third and redlined it a few times! :D
  25. anybody got a link to the uk rex owners club? Cheers
