  1. PMSL luckily my only dealings are with the naval police down in portsmouth they seem content to leave us civvies alone and concentrate on making sure the sailors dont get too over excited about being let off thier ships for the night!!! normal procedure if a bunch of sailors get in a scrap is to pull them off the civvies (normally saving them from a proper kicking) bundle them off giving them a few good smacks on the way and lock em up for the night..
  2. Im guessing as you were on an airstrip you may have gone a little bit quicker than 70mph, from silly speeds even gentle braking will get your brakes VERY hot, its a proper heavy car!!! gob on the disks to double check its the brakes that are generating the heat!! :D
  3. important thing to remember is that traffic police are a very different breed to the guys who wander around town on a friday night and do "proper" police work. Most traffic police are cnuts, FACT! My missus has just joined the hampshire force and is off in kent training at the moment, first week there all her intructors were telling them what a bunch of "flat capped ****ers" traffic police were! its official nobody likes em! There is an element of "judge dred syndrome" amongst some coppers, as soon as they get thier warrant card they start wandering around flashing it at every opportunity trying to intimidate people, luckily most of these get weeded out in the early stage, its shocking to hear how many get through the rigerous interviews etc only to get fired for gross misconduct/bringing the force into disrepute either during thier training or in thier first few weeks of the job (normally pissed up antics with the blokes)
  4. the fact that your gearchange and powersteering have problems would suggest that it is the speed sensor, all these functions rely on the output from this sensor. as far as replacing it/fixing it goes, not a clue mate... sorry :mac1:
  5. used about 2 tubes of evo stick, and lots and lots and lots of patience!!! because of the angle of the screen its hard to wedge something in there to hold the dash down while the glue sets... so ended up doing most of it by hand!! :( mine is about 90% stuck down now, couple of bits still poking up but much better than it was, just needs another tube of glue and a spare hour to do it!!!!
  6. it can be a pain in the balls to get the old hoses off, but a bit of elbow grease and some skinned nuckles and you'll get there in the end (well actually I gave up on my rear ones they just did not want to come off!!!) I got my hoses from a tuning place in the states on ebay... was a bit sceptical but they turned out to be a perfect fit.
  7. what a heap of crap!!! jeeesus, funily enough he's had no bids on it!!!

if she was really fit and gave a free BJ once a week if you stayed off the tabs....... sorry just thinking out loud...
  9. Taking my car for Ryan to have a quick look at tonight, with all the glowing reports I keep reading I half expect the man to pull out a magic zed wand and make all my problems go away!!! :D Its really nice to have somebody with such a good reputation only a short drive away!
  10. mine refuses to blow hot air in your face (when set ot max 40degrees, alhtough does do it at 35degrees??!?!?!), only at my feet or on the windscreen Im assuming its some crap to do with the fully automatic climate control, takes a little while to heat up properly but gets there eventually.
  11. I wouldnt go anywhere near WOT until you get it sorted mate or better yet pull the boost jets until you are ready to fit your EBC, would hate to see another person on here need a rebuild... :(
  12. On a plus point, took on a chap on his work placement from uni just over a year ago, he learned stuff so quick I was shocked and went back to uni knowing more about several of the topics I tought him that I did!!! he was actually offered 27k and a car to stay but decided it was best to finish his degree! not bad for a 19-20 year old! he's got a bright future ahead of him!
  13. I had exactly this problem, went to all the "decent" places locally only one out of four would even consider taking the job on!! the others just didnt want to know and the quotes were fooking obscene! Sure there is a knack to it and it requires some skill and experience but rocket science it ain't... FG in nottingham sorted me out with a decent job and a bargain price. shame I had to send the car half way up the damn country to get it done...
  14. yeah if tony blair died I would be on the streets taking part in the mass mourning......bwahahahamahahamhahehahahahahahahaa
  15. smartarse ;) mines coming up soon and im pooing it.
  16. Stupid I know but if your luggage blind/cover thing doesnt retract all the way i found by pulling the whole unit out, extract about 2ft of the blind and hold it between your knees, take the right hand plastic endcap off (3 small screws) pull it up about an inch, and turn it 2-3 times clockwise (you'll feel the springs tightening) put it all back together and it will now retract with lethal velocity!!!
  17. Optimax will do you fine, most people here run on that stuff. One or two just use plain old supermarket fuel! A remap would probably be best in the long run and a neccesity if you are going to up the boost. in the FAQ section there is a list of "things to do before you modify your car" these IMHO are a good list of general health checks for your motor and should highlight any major probs that may be lurking.
  18. thanks chaps, im hoping they wont be too busy at 4pm but Ill call anyway! cheers
  19. Ive been eagerly following this, and nipping out and trying all the solutions, looked a right tit rubbing the basingstoke gazzette all over my windscreen... still no joy for me either :( and BTW how fooking expensive is rainX ??? WTF is in that shit? rip off.
  20. Im having to forget the tight arse ritual of not putting the heating on during the day, its bloody freezing today! My creaky old joints cant handle it.
  21. Im planning on popping down to micheldever tyres to get a proper 4wheel tracking job done, has anybody been there before with thier zed? couple of local places couldnt do the job cos the zed was too low and they couldnt get it on thier ramps (not lowered, just a 99 spec front end?!?!?!) didnt want to drive all the way there to find they have the same problem!
  22. he has http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/3984841.stm
  23. ooh lots of reading there, thanks for that!
  24. Do I have speed sensitive power steering on a '90? dont have Hicas didnt think the early cars had it..
  25. Odd one this morning, started up the car and the power steering was really heavy, it was definitly working but not very well. When I stopped and started the car again it was working fine! oil level is fine wasnt sure what else to check, its the second time this has happened. is something about to break? its a 90 auto if that makes and difference. Cheers
