  1. Couple more pictures of the rear whilst it was being fitted modified
  2. The recaros are low because I'm very tall, so they are fixed to the floor without runners, otherwise I'd hit my head on the top of the cage in an accident. Which is worth thinking about with people sitting between the cage bars you need to make sure if the worst did happen there's no way anyone's head is hitting the bars,
  3. Think you'll struggle if you want a harness bar, particularly as it was pointed out to me by the more experienced members the angle the harness mounts has to be right. My cage is bolt in, maybe you could have the rear bar removable? I'd hope you wouldn't have people in the back whilst on track. Here's my half cage, although it's in a swb so rear seats were irrelevant
  4. Thanks everyone for their advice, got a while before I'll be driving it properly again, I've ordered the wider 285 tyres anyway, shame as I hadn't even fitted the 265's I'd already bought for it.
  5. Put me down for sat/Sunday.
  6. Is there any interest in joining the Midlands lot for silver stone classic http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?186340-2017-Silverstone-Classics-July-21-22-23 I'm going to go, probably sat/sun, Silverstone isn't that far for a good event, So I'm anyone is interested get your names down and we can get a convoy going, and get a good turn out of zeds.
  7. I work for Nissan, used our system, and the vin on record with the dvla for that zed, not known our system to be wrong, and it's supported by things like the early seatbelt mounting etc pointed out by the other members, ( coincidentally had it been a Nismo, autech, special production vehicle it should have shown on our system)
  8. Had the confirmation of this from ace cafe, Definitely the 22nd April, had the booking form through so will get us a stand.
  9. Thanks for all the advice, The clutch is odd, first noticed it on the boxhill-brighton run, it's filled the zed with clutch smoke and went nowhere when I tried to put my foot down, seems my zed either slips the clutch or the tyres what ever it feels like at the time... but I've a long list of issues to resolve before I goes out testing again, needs a better map and the new clutch as a priority, also had some smoke under boost which looking at the afr gauge was running rich, but going to replace the pcv valves as a precaution as it looked slightly blue, but compression and cylinder leak is good, Aim is to have it ready for some proper runs in March-April, would be good to test/run along side you bob, you have far more experience would appreciate a chance to learn from you and eurospec. it's OK Stanley not offended you got my name wrong, was only a matter of time before Alison and the grammar police picked up on it, wasn't going to say anything :innocent:
  10. Thanks, It definitely spun up, was about 15 degrees from straight had to fight it straight again. The mechanics helping me test thought I was about to lose it, ( so did I hence why I'm scared of this car now) Thanks for the input, will dial down my rear coilovers, and get the wider rsr ordered, the bushes were good, no sign of wear, the zed has been solid and planted on its previous trackdays ( prior to the power modifications) but it's always been really stiff, Think I went too far to fast with it should have gone in stages as aposed to 350bhp to 600+ in one jump...
  11. Sorry should have clarified this is my silver slicktop actuator pressure is 14psi, on GT675RS turbos. it's been built for 600-700 bhp, still on an oem clutch hence slipping, ( my fault needed the engine back in but couldn't afford the new sz clutch at the time), there seems to be a bit of lag before the turbos spool properly, probably due to the r5 race cams not performing lower in the Rev range, that's what I ment as it spooled at 120 it spun up
  12. 500 mile old 245/35/18 mid range tyres on the rear, ( summer tyre technically) but with good displacement. I've a set of federal rsr to go on but after the winter. 265/35/18 My rotas are 9.5 so in theory could try to get the 285/30/18 rsr tyres, Can't go to drag radials as it's a been built for circuit mainly.
  13. We took my silver zed out to a private road ( genuinely a private road) to run some tests on it, Baring in mind I'm running on actuator pressure only, and the clutch is slipping ( yeah I know not the best idea to test but I've only time we could use the road for a month or 2) I'm having trouble getting it to put its power down, worst was when the boost came on at 120mph it spun the tyres again, I need advice tips on how to counter this, It needs a big wing that's a given to help with the high speed stability, thinking of getting wider wheels maybe some 10.5 j to help, would softening the rear suspension help? Feels like it's jumping around a bit too much, I'm completely scared of it, certainly don't want to turn the boost controller on ( can do double its current boost) it's probably more my lack of experience with the power but I'd appreciate any advice anyone has.
  14. Wow, just out of interest I did a vin check on it... It's a 1990 not even the '94 it's claimed to be, It's been miss registered by the look, dvla seem to think it's 94, but it was built Sept '90 according to its vin. Well I'd avoid this at all costs..
  15. I meant more in general then just what you said, but still agree with you, particularly in flipping cars, see it all the time working for a garage, our place does it too, will do the odd mechanical thing but then the sales department get funny over spending a few quid on tidying / superficial parts that would undoubtedly make the car more sellable..
  16. sounds like you've been hanging around those supra boys too much, very disappointed in you... i could almost understand the anger towards the family estates but to a fellow shortie... hang your head in shame... joking aside agree with the points made, we should be able to say we don't like/agree with something someone has done/not done, but then again i know i get very protective of my zed, might be a pile of crap but its my pile of crap hehe.
  17. That's a shame. Were inside when you arrive.
  18. Out of interest does someone have one laying around? Planning to remove the silver spoiler for my blue on but then I remembered I was trying to keep everything I removed from it in case I wanted to return it the way it was... If it's in tk3 blue even better if not I'm getting the tailgate painted to match the body better could do it at the same time. This style one ( swb if they are different)
  19. OK all the pre orders are sent, also request we up our space to 18 as this covers all the confirmed. See everyone 3:30 on Sunday...
  20. Without doing a compression or leak down test (better) yournot going to know anything, if he has cooked it could easily be head gasket, rings. Or turbos ( they don't like overheating either) the only thing to keep in mind is if it has warped the heads, completely depends on exactly what happened... But again until it's tested it's all guessing...
  21. I have it on good authority rust is lighter then carbon fibre...Hehe If the body's solid then your laughing, if your doing the head gaskets may as well pull the motor anyway, if you can get a know good motor may be worth dropping it in,
  22. Good buy, Definitely a steal at that price, particularly being a slicktop... Hopefully repairs go well, ...but if the don't i know a local member with a silver slicktop who always needs parts... ( can't resist being a vulture)
  23. My pictures weren't that great, so I'll save everyone from having to look at them, Like to says thanks for letting me join in, was a great event, tiring but worth it, thanks to the committee, as well as my co-conspirators on display, and the members who came along, Lots of work ahead of next year to hopefully join in again without being lucky lol...
  24.
