Posted December 19, 20168 yr hi guys, i am having bucket seats and 5 point harness installed in the new year, however i have nowhere to mount the harness, i know that a few people have done it to rear strut brace or rear seat belt anchor points but that's not for me, i would much rather have a half cage or 6/7/8 point cage, i ideally want to keep the rear seats in so my lads can still sit in the back any suggestions? or anyone got some pics of something similar? cant really find anything on the internet with people keeping rear seats in but i imagine 2 points would go to boot floor and a bar across?
December 19, 20168 yr Think you'll struggle if you want a harness bar, particularly as it was pointed out to me by the more experienced members the angle the harness mounts has to be right. My cage is bolt in, maybe you could have the rear bar removable? I'd hope you wouldn't have people in the back whilst on track. Here's my half cage, although it's in a swb so rear seats were irrelevant
December 19, 20168 yr There was a 5 point cage for sale on facebook this week if interested? Also Ash, those recaros look really low compared to the standard seats! Never noticed that before. Can you tell a difference compared to stock?

December 19, 20168 yr The recaros are low because I'm very tall, so they are fixed to the floor without runners, otherwise I'd hit my head on the top of the cage in an accident. Which is worth thinking about with people sitting between the cage bars you need to make sure if the worst did happen there's no way anyone's head is hitting the bars,
December 20, 20168 yr Hi mate who made the cage and what was the cost I would like one in my slicktop thanks .
December 20, 20168 yr I bought it off ebay second hand, turned out to be from jaffa on here, paid £50 for the full cage, then cost me 100 to have it modified into a half cage and to sit where I wanted it, sat too far forward and the harnesses bar was wrong. Pretty strong cage, given how lethal my zed is at the moment it's nice knowing it's there. Edited December 20, 20168 yr by (adl) phoenix
December 20, 20168 yr Roll cage and harnesses while retaining use of rear seats - Forget it. If you found a way to to still make it physically possible for somebody to get in the back with the cage and harness bar installed it would be a death trap should anything happen.
December 20, 20168 yr Unless you're building a dedicated track car, I see no real point in fitting a roll cage.....
December 20, 20168 yr Unless you're building a dedicated track car, I see no real point in fitting a roll cage..... I wouldn't have a full cage on any road car (too dangerous without a helmet). With a LWB the 4 point rear bar loses you the rear seats, but on a SWB a 4 point Rear roll bar setup is a worthy addition imo for a fast road car and occasional track toy. It has no negative effect on Driver/Passenger space or Road safety but provides additional safety, stiffens up the chassis, allowing the suspension to do its job better - which in turn improves handling and Ride comfort and provides harness attachment for occasional track day use.

Which means those diagonal support bars will run straight through where their heads need to go unfortunately. The bars look like they might be removable, cant properly see the attachments at the lower of the support bars, if so then you could unbolt it all , leaving just the main hoop in for when on the road.
