  1. Going back on-topic, I just realised I broke 1k without realising too! Missed it by 20. Ah well, roll on 10,000. I'll be 60 by the time I get there...
  2. I was well and truly hooked. Not everyone likes Lost, but I got drawn in totally. I'm kind of relieved this series has finished- it'll free up a few valuable hours of the week :) I'm just too weak to be able not to watch it... And there is no way I can afford to get into Prison Break too- that'd just be me done for! Thing is the girlfriend is threatening to start on that one. Nooooooooooo...
  3. Blimey Ian sounds nasty :( Hope you get wel soon mate. Mark
  4. Ironic really, that ZX Mad was trying to sort out the 300ZX world record attempt to raise funds for a similar organisation. I bet if it was being organised it after such a celebrity accident, people would be a lot more willing to help it happen... Anyway, great news that the Hamster is on the mend, keep chugging round your little wheel fella! :)
  5. Holy crap. :( Wishing you well Hamster.
  6. My old Nova was a bit naff- had been cared after and garaged since bought new in 1987, I got it in 92 and had it for 7 years. Looked after it service-wise and always got anything done that needed doing, never thrashed it madly, yet it kept letting me down. Went through periods of not wanting to start, for no particular reason. Never go to the bottom of it. Head gasket went, exhaust went routinely, rust bubbled up all over the place. Pug 306 before the Zed, for 5 years. Only the rocker cover gasket and exhaust needed replacing, and I gave it a real thrashing everywhere; handled great and never let me down. Loved it. I'll always remember a mate following me in a Chimera- we came up to a 90 degree corner, I just flicked the wheel and round I went. Took him about half a mile for him to catch up. Wish I could have afforded both that and the Zed...
  7. Had the same problem which was dry solder joints in the amp in my case, but that's no help to you! But I did look into how I could bypass the amp. The switch energises one of 2 pins at +12V depending on up or down(*). However the window motor needs to be driven either way, so it's not as simple as bunging in a few wires- you'll need 2 relays, plus a multimeter to find out which are the switch feeds and which are the motor lines. I started thinking about 1-touch up and down, but then my brain exploded. Mark * = and an additional 1 of 2 pins if you press harder for single-touch operation
  8. Shame not to meet up with you bud, post up your results anyway (if you want to that is :) )
  9. Good that, though personally I'm undecided on the filled-in fog lights. And if it was me I'd cut out the intercooler vents. Or you could compromise and remove the top slat from the vent, so that the bottom of the "main" vent is in line with the open gob, with an "extra" vent underneath on either side.

243 @ wheels, 295 @ fly, about 315 torques. The last time it was roaded, it made 269/325/330 respectively. Overfuelling like a *******- the next thing to sort out. Well the same thing to sort out again actually, but probably for a different reason this time... Summary... bit dispondant!
  11. A good day, if not good news on my run! Overfuelling again. Still made 245-ish at the wheels. Could have stayed all evening at that pub! :duffer: Cheers for organising it Steve, shame you had to go. Good job Gaz for taking over.
  12. That is class! :D
  13. Camber. If it's exposed down to the wire, that's pretty bad! I reckon you've been a bit lucky you didn't come a cropper.

Can't make this one :( I'll try next time.
  15. Good point there- looks like I'll have to spend a bit of time getting the doors sorted first. Any particular type/brand of deadening material you recommend?
  16. ZX Mad- Fair comment about shelf weight vs supporting strength & vibration there.
  17. Fair do's. I already have components in the front, and damn good they sound too albeit lacking a little in bass. Thing is, I like to be surrounded by sound and I don't like it when you've just got it all coming from the front; I imagine adding a sub in the back wouldn't change this much, just make things nice and bassy (not a bad thing mind! :D ) So I want the volume as a whole to be balanced around me, but the detail to be coming from my front components. If that makes sense. Ideally yes, I'll stick a sub in at some point but that's a bit off right now.
  18. I'm fed up with a combination of my tatty-looking boot blind and the tinny sound of my 6x4s in the stock location, so I've decided to build myself a parcel shelf and stick in some 6x9s. No sub is going in yet. Thing is, I know nothing about the practicalities of parcel shelf building. However I do it, I'll butcher my existing blind to use the same mountings and central bar on which the shelf will hinge upwards. Then I have 2 basic ideas- one is a solid shelf over the whole boot space. I guess it would be the best solution as a sound board, but the hatch gas struts would be too weak to hold it up if I strung it to the hatch. Idea 2 is to have a solid shelf near the rear seat in which the speakers are mounted, but lighter material covering the rest of the boot, strengthened by metal L-shape struts or similar. Possible compromise on sound, but if the speakers are just pointing up at the hatch which-ever way I do it then does it matter at all?! And lastly- what's the best material to use? I know the Saxo brigade all go for MDF so that was going to be my starting point. Also, would there be any benefit in angling the speakers to face forward at all? The sound would be directed towards the occupants, but then would I lose sound quality on the more elaborate mounting? Or maybe I'm thinking to hard and should just get on with it... :slap:
  19. Congratulations bud! :hyper: Will be good to see you Zedded out for the first time in ages!
  20. The reason it was cancelled was purely due to the weather. The reason the traffic was bad was that the roads just couldn't handle 100,000 people trying to get to Longleat through the country lanes leading there. Which was made far, far worse by their so-called traffic control. That consisted of traffic lights simply stopping the flow of traffic, rather than prioritising flow from congested areas. Though apparently there were quite a few crashes- they sounded like small prangs rather than biggies though.
  21. Anyone else try to go to this at the weekend?! What a farce! Best summed up by the comments here... http://www.bbc.co.uk/wiltshire/content/articles/2006/07/05/red_bull_air_race_2006_feature.shtml Took 4h20mins to get there from Farnborough (should have been about 2h), and even that was with some deft re-navigation when confronted with each of the many queues. Optimistically left the car in the car-park but after 15 mins we realised that it wouldn't be on anyway (but it was another 1h30mins before it was announced) and headed back home. Then, some 45 mins into our journey back home at some traffic lights, the bloke in front got out and asked us where the red car park was for the air race! We said we'd given up, but at this point it hadn't officially been cancelled and he headed back in the direction of Longleat :slap: What a waste of a day :( , and shame on Red Bull for the crap organisation :nono:
  22. 2 is the earliest I can guarantee getting there, but I can go on as late as required. However, I'll turn up as soon as I can, which may be from 1.
  23. Hubba hubba!!!
