US Law is a PITA!!!
Seen this??? http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=14799 Outrageous! FFS I don't see why car manufacturers should have to pay for airbags to work on people without seatbelts at all, let along put extra complication in to determine their weight, age, hair colour, shoe-size, no. of facial and/or body piercings , etc The rest of the world should just say *****cks to crazy US litigation and just get on with building cars.

co2 spray for intercoolers
-196 is pretty fecking cold. If it would be better and cheaper to use, people would be doing it so there must be a good reason. Like too high a temperature gradient- maybe you'd just end up cracking the I/Cs?

dare you take... the GEEK test?
17.4% geek. But then I went back unticking boxes to see what effect that would have! LOL add 10% on just for doing that... I've watched a film on my own, but only because I was waiting for my zorst to be fabricated and had 4 hours to kill :) Anyway, is a healthy level of geekiness really that bad? Our cars, Mobile phones, this club, none of it would exist without people knowing, like, stuff. Hail to the geek! :D

425bhp from 1.5 litre in 1951 ??
Ok- here's a related side-question: Is it true that oil suppliers are buying up patents of combustion engine innovations in order to keep the market full of fuel-hungry machines, then when they have to relent because stocks really are drying up, they are in control of the more fuel-efficient technology? Just an urban legend I heard once.

yay or nay
I knew someone who had that keyboard. Brought sampling to the teen-age bedroom musician. As far as the stripe goes, for me it doesn't work. But sod me and everyone else here, if you like it, do it. :)

How many of us are heading over to Box Hill on the Sunday from my area? Wondering if anyone wants to toddle over in convoy? :)

425bhp from 1.5 litre in 1951 ??
There's all sorts of stuff that was in pro motor sports through the decade which was touted as "new" in the 80s/90s. Twin cams, twin spark plugs, all sorts of stuff. For some reason it just didn't take off in the commercial world. For outright power, there's the qualifying-spec BMW F1 engine (early 80s?), getting 1500bhp from a road-block 1.5 litre. Then things kind of went backwards.

SE Rolling Road Day - 9 September 2006
Steve, what's the rough plan for the day- start & anticipated finish time? I've just realised that's the day I'm taking my girlfriend to the airport, and that I've now potentially shafted myself! :( I may still be able to toddle along- also need to find out when my taxiing is required.

Speedo resistor value
That is correct- I've had the odometers seperated from my old Jap-spec clocks and my "new" UK ones, and the gearing IS different.

rear light conversion
Different patterns, yes. I went for one that was fairly clear and had a simple, kind of lensing effect. You can get others that are more opaque, with a flatter look. My logic was that it would have less of a problem in direct sunlight. Legality-wise, I think you'd be down in the detail before you found anything illegal. Strictly speaking I'm sure light clusters have to have been designed and tested to meet certain standards. By changing that design and not having it officially (e.g. to BS standards) approved, it's then not going to be legal. However, providing it actually works ok, no-one's going to notice. So it comes down to how well the bulb shines through. I originally had silvered indicator bulbs, but decided to ditch them as they're not as bright as standard amber bulbs. Newer LED-replacement bulbs might be better, but I'm not sure how the light spread compares.

rear light conversion
I got my striplight from B&Q- I didn't do too much research on other options, just found a diffuser pattern I liked and which was the right length and width. As it happens, the width was spot on. And yes, I bought the whole lot as one, which didn't bother me as I needed one anyway. And yes, you can get red bulbs, but I don't know the best place. Mark
