Powerflow Exhausts any good?
I know that most people go for proprietry exhaust names (like Mongoose  ) but I've heard some good things about Powerflow exhausts. Plus they're guaranteed for the duration you own the car. This will be my first upgrade :hyper: ETU (Estimated Time to Upgrade!) 2 months. So... anyone have any views ??? Mark

unwanted drift
Assuming you've already checked the tyres themselves (wear and inflation) check the rear shocks. I bought mine knowing they'd need doing- whenever you went over a bump the back end would squirm around. Been superbly behaved ever since I replaced them (lead right-foot aside :D ) Other things- your HICAS warning light stays off does it? May also be worth getting 4-wheel tracking too. Mark

Fleet, Light-coloured Zed Tues night- about 7:40pm
Sorry it's a bit vague! It was dark, and you were fairly close behind the car infront, so I didn't spot you were a Zed till almost level. Silver / light grey / white I think, stock front. I was heading towards Fleet train station from the East- you were going the other way- I flashed :D Mark

Jacking up
Best to use a trolley jack if poss; but there is a notch on each corner for the standard jack, but check that your sills are ok before you do it! I've had mine up using the sills before but I did cringe a bit. For a trolley jack, at the rear there are some chassis mounting points that seem sturdy enough, think it was where the rear subframe is mounted. At the front there's similar points, but not quite as obvious, and you do need a fairly slimline jack... Mark *Edit- blimey I'm a slow typer! Took about 14 mins- not surprised 2 other people got in before me... :) * *2nd edit- in fact having seen the link from Vijay, ignore my comments on trolley jacking points!!! I'll get my coat...*

95 RON(unleaded) or 98 RON(super unleaded)
Actually, it makes sense to use Optimax all the time regardless of what car you've got. Allegedly, providing you drive to a speed not a throttle position, you'll save more money in fuel consumption than you spend on the price of the petrol. Not done the figures, but I believe it :)

Throttle bypass
I'll try! The problem is that I've not seen water coming out from anywhere- I'm not losing a huge amount, so I presume it's only happening under load. So apart from flooring it with the bonnet up and leaning out the window, I'm not sure how to find it!! :slap: But there does seem to be water collecting on the upper join of the down-pipe, which is right under the inlet pipe to the throttle body feed, if I've got my engine geography right. The matrix pipes are right at the back aren't they? TBH I don't think it's them, but I'll check. Cheers! :)

Slough Meet @ Royal Oak
And I'd like to add a big "thank you" to all you lovely Slough drivers... NOT!!! :mac1: The only other place I've ever come across so much crap :slap: and/or inconsiderate driving :headvswal is in Malvern. Cutting up, pulling out without indicating or looking, overtaking a single-file queue at road-works, and driving about 20mph below the speed limit. LEARN TO DRIVE YOU :x: :x: :x: !!! I feel better now... :)

Yep it was good! Funny that my PIAAs looked like candles compared with the HID boys...

Speedo question
Swapping the resistor isn't too difficult, but if you leave the dials on the speedo PCB (like I did), then be very careful how you position the soldering iron, (which I wasn't!) :headvswal I also recommend drilling a couple of holes in the clocks housing so that with the cover off you can calibrate the speedo pots on the move.

Throttle bypass
Okeedokey- looks like I've sprung a coolant leak somewhere around the driver's side part of the plenum. :( Are the throttle warming sections of the coolant loop interconnected or seperate? I might not have a huge amount of time at the weekend, so I might only be able to do the side with the leak, unless of course you've got to do them both at the same time... Cheers, Mark

Speedo question
Subscribe and I'll tell ya! ;) Looks like you can, according to this thread... http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=35682 Eisegerwind is the chap who seems to know all about the speedo, so if in doubt have a chat with him.

BIG burger...
Check out the pic! Snapped it from the telly while over in the states. The big thing in the middle of the table is a burger. That's ONE burger weighing 10 lbs!!! The little lady 2nd from the left is the one who ate the whole damn thing! Took her 2 hours just to get through the meat. Supposedly she ate nothing the day before, and only soup the day before that. But I still can't see how she did it! The piles of burgers either side are the equivalent quantity of cheeseburgers. Some people are just nuts...

In Florida...?
'Twas up in the 70s and 80s, and a bit more sun than back here in blighty! Good spotting out in the States again... :D 3 Zeds in Key West- 1 white convertible, 2 black SWB. 1 in Miami- emerald green SWB. All seemed stock, except maybe the last one's paint job. Maybe it's just the volume of cars they have in the USA, but I've not seen a modded one yet. Loads of modded Hondas though, and usually ones you wouldn't want to mod anyway! Also saw 2 Z31s and about a billion 350Zs. Oh, and I saw ex-prez Bill "Cigar" Clinton. Methinks the world would be in better shape if he was still in charge...

plenum water by pass Q
Have you done this then Jaffa? Out of interest, has anyone else done this with silicone hoses and had (or not had!) problems?

intercooler sprayers
I have another question- what are the pros and cons of water injection vs intercooler spray? Is it that intercooler spray is easier to implement, but water injection is more efficient with high boost?
-
miles to a full tank - what do you get?
On a good day I'll get about 200, and I'd rather not talk about the bad days! I've worked out I get around 18mpg in general.
-
is this wise?
Sorry if this gets too much back on-topic, but performance-wise, what's the comparison of intercooler mist vs water injection? I know the principal is similar, the main difference being that the former has "external" water and the latter "internal"...

800BHP Z32 and 215 mph! Thankyou please!!!
I like the way he's just gone for power and handling- no bling, unless it makes the car fast!
-
what stage is your car tuned too ??
Heh! I know what you mean. "300bhp is more than enough for me" I thought when I got mine. Nope! Wrong again... It's stock right now, but hopefully before summer I'll bound up the stages all the way to... Stage 3. Got a few running issues to sort out first though...
