Y Not- a Soul, Funk and R&B band at your disposal!
Christmas is coming up fast! Got that work or family :duffer:  celebration  :duffer: to plan?! Presenting... Y Not ... a six-piece cover band (in which I'm on keyboard). We have a set-list combining soul, funk and R&B (traditional). We can also provide a disco to cover all your party needs! On my personal website I have some short audio clips from one of our recent gigs; go to http://homepage.ntlworld.com/mawglobal/ click "Music" then "Band". But don't ask me how good we are! Ask MTL for an unbiased opinion- we played at his sister's wedding a few weeks back. :hyper: For more information on booking and availability, please contact either myself or Tony, on 07801 819503. And yes, I do take my Zed gigging, though you can only get flat or wedge-shaped items in the boot :D Cheers, Mark

Disco eedjut...
 A collegue found the following on his Discovery forum... These statements were made by the same person, who resides somewhere in Georgia in the good old US of A, on the DISCO2.com technical forum (so for "emergency brake" read "handbrake"): "The brake, T.C., ABS, & Hill Descent warning lights continously on after emergency brake was pulled to prevent accident." "I used the emergency brake because of the situation I was in. I needed to stop immediatley- no room for error. The brakes worked fine but even heavy brake application with traction control would still have caused damage to others." PMSL  What a :xxx: !!! :slap: :nono: Also, in the Discovery the, so called, emergency brake is actually a transmission brake that is applied at the output of the transfer gearbox. He risked breaking half shafts and/or propshafts by applying the brake whilst the vehicle was moving. Given that his dash now looks like a festive decoration, I'd say he's f**ked something good an' proper!

Good choice of pub! :D 28th is best for me. It's possible but unlikely I'd be able to make the 14th. Mark

Another clutch problem
A mate of mine can get me a SAX clutch for a reasonable price- does anyone know if they're any good? Mark

speakers
There are only 4 in total, yes. Pete- you said 6" in the doors, but looking online I only see either 5.25" or 6.5". I presume it's actually 6.5"??? In fact, can anyone recommend some straight-forward upgrades?

Another clutch problem
LOL Actually, how does the RPS compare with a new stock clutch? I'm not going to be running a huge amount of power, so would I be better off saving a few pennies with OEM, or is the RPS simply better clutch all-round?

Another clutch problem
Different to the other clutch thread on here! :( I presume in my case it is the clutch itself that's knackered... Pulling away, changing gear is all fine. Biting point is in the middle of the clutch travel (though my clutch servo is disconnected at the mo). However, floor it, and when the turbos start dancing the revs jump up about 1000 without the car accelerating. Hoped it might be wheelspin on dodgy surfaces, but firstly it's not accompanied by any noise, and secondly I tried it round a bend and the back end stayed put. So the next bit, is what's the best clutch? The RPS Sport clutch seems well used so is it the best one to go for? And aside from Baggins and Smithy (I checked your sites chaps :D ), anyone got any recommendations for where to get it bought and/or fitted? (Think a clutch would be beyond my limited mechanical skills!) And finally... I need a new clutch servo/booster! Where's the best place to get one of them? Cheers for any help, Mark

f*cking scum pondlife!!!
As a more pleasant counter-story, we had a bunch of kids come round doing trick-or-treat. Gave them a handful of Wagon Wheels and Kit-Kats, and they were very grateful too! :D

Help! Overheating query
Ok- sorry to resurrect this thread but I was away for a week, and I've never cooked an engine before and basically I'm trying to work out if the car's fine, or whether I shouldn't drive it until I've got it checked out... (either way, once I'm driving it again I'll keep an eye on temp and check coolant levels daily) So... I guess the real question is *if* the engine overheats, is there a risk of damage to the timing belt? The screeching I heard- would that have been the auxilliary belt slipping, or would it have been something else, like the sides of the timing belt rubbing on something? (But if the timing belt has deformed that much, would the timing itself get screwed up too? Coz the engine ran fine on the way home) Feel free to ignore this if they're amateur questions! If no-one replies I'll get it checked out by an expert anyway... :)

A BIG thankyou to the Following people....
Unbelievable! Seems like it was just one of those days. Looking at it another way, Zeds are just as reliable as Fords   Cheers matey! It was good fun, and I'm just glad that the rest of the band were available to help you out. And how drunk was your cousin?! In fact, several of your cousins! Martin- didn't get a chance to chat or have a nose around your car, but it looked good from the far car park! Gutted that I couldn't join you in the procession up to the venue :(

Help! Overheating query
TBH I couldn't tell if it was smoke or steam- I guess it could have been steam but it just looked more like smoke to me! (Ameteurs eh? :slap: ) Topless- I'll do the chameleon thing with my eyes! :D

Help! Overheating query
Right, scenario... Driving along. Zed feels a bit sluggish, but I didn't think too much about it. :slap: About 10 mins later looked down at the temp gauge and it's off the scale! Immediately backed off but had to keep going until the next inhabitted area. Wound down the window and could hear an intermittent screeching sound coming from the engine; not revving above 3000rpm :( . Found a place to pull in, killed the engine and got out. Popped the bonnet, and there's smoke aplenty, looks like it's mainly coming from around the belts  . Rad cap was loose and it looked like coolant had sprayed out everywhere- lots of water around the area, but obviously none in the system. Now I've filled back up with coolant and made sure the rad cap's on tight, and it's been fine- temp gauge get's to mid-range then stops and doesn't move, as it's always been before. My concern is have I cooked my timing belt? Do I need to get it checked out before driving my Zed again at all, or can the belts take a certain amount of abuse? Yours anxiously, Mark

tuning a standard 1993 tt manual 300zx
I'm sure someone who knows more will expand; I'm just repeating what I've seen on this forum about these, but... If you decat a stock TT, you'll significantly shorten the life of the turbos (the seals specifically). Though some people haven't had problems... (REALLY Sorry if this does you out of a sale Ya5een!) Plus, I gather (but have no experience of this myself) that until you get up to serious bhp there's no real benefit in going for a twin-intake. Just get youself a decent single intake.

Daily driver?
For the record, I get about 18mpg too, on a 3-mile, 15-minute journey to and from work. Plus the odd hour or so blat down an A-road every week.

Rear shocks..
Up to you as you're selling up (is that why no-one's replied?!) but I'd replace both as a good-will gesture to the buyer! An pair of OEM from the Z Centre cost £70, which ain't too bad really...

Auto Electrical Sh1te issue?!? I dunt geddit??
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the little black box you mention is the thing that works out if you've blown a bulb and illuminates the "lights" warning on the dash. Presume you've tried swapping bulbs, as suggested above?
