  1. Between the A30 and M3. I flashed and waved- you flashed back and grinned! :D Scarab bumper? Looked non-standard anyway; didn't clock the rest of the car...
  2. Jap, one tiny bit of rust where a fleck of paint has chipped off the rear wing. Bet this has jinxed me now!
  3. I couple of years ago I got a Sony DSC-P72; good for snaps but now I've had it a while I'm not convinced that Sony's light metering is up to scratch. Hopefully they've got it sorted on more recent cameras. I've heard that the Pentax Optio S4i (http://www.steves-digicams.com/2004_reviews/optios4i.html) is pretty decent too...? (Though I'm not all that into my cameras! ;) )
  4. It caught the first guy completely by surprise! I also liked the handful of M&Ms let loose in zero-G, even if it is a bit dodgy. There were fantastic shots as the rocket was lit and it just powered up, up, up & even more up :D And also the shots in space. Their try-it-and-see approach was refreshing- beats all the red tape that normally hold these things back! Amazing.
  5. Anyone see the thing on Discovery channel last night about Spaceship One? All 3 hours of it... Amazing that a non-government-funded company can put men in space, even though it was a bit slap-dash in places! And I quote... "Holy crap!!! That was close..."
  6. Yep- use a relay on the brake lights, that's what I'm going to do, but where did you tap in to the side-light 12V feed? Did you just tap in at the lamp assembly? Or did you run a seperate line from somewhere else?

...However...! I just felt like taking the easy option, rather than the cheapest one. Like the other chaps say, H3Cs are chuffin' expensive! TBH, when these ones go, I'll probably do the mod...
  8. One of my mates spotted you, so he couldn't give any other ID on you! :)

Deffo make a big difference over standard bulbs; better coverage and things are clearer in white, rather than yellow light. So right now I'd say they ARE worth it. Personally I haven't compared them with alternatives yet, but there's a thread somewhere with pretty good evidence that 55W PIAA = 85W normal. As for the hefty price difference, time will tell if they last!

I just fitted my first set of PIAA H3C superwhites. Mmm... illumination... :)
  11. Yeah my car's got the same conversion done at the mo, but for aesthetic reasons I want to do the brake light conversion and I'm a little unsure if there's enough balls in the side-light circuit to illuminate a pair of brake lights...?
  12. No-one got any suggestions?! Guess I'll just by a bag of fuses and a fire extinguisher!
  13. I made someone laugh so much they farted! He kind of went... "Ha ha ha (parp) ooo" How funny are farts?!
  14. I've been having the same problem recently, but on my TT. I presume there's a similar problem-solving route- if you do searches along the lines of hesitation and rough running then you'll get a few pointers, but it could pretty much be anything! :( First off do ECU diagnostic and O2 sensor check to make sure nothing obvious has failed. If that's clear then the fun starts... I first thought it was vacuum hoses, so I replaced the ones that were loose- no change. Then I did the diagnostic and noticed an O2 sensor appeared lazy; however it's not easy to say whether it was the cause of the symptom! After that, it was recommended I upgrade to a Series 2 PTU. That hasn't solved it either, but I consider it preventative maintenance :D Doing the PTU swap I noticed that the driver's side throttle pipe was split at the throttle end, so I'm just waiting for the new one of those to arrive to see if that cures it. Other recommendations are check air filter, AFM, throttle bodies and check all electrical connectors in general. Make a list, and cross things off as you get through them (it'll be a long list, but don't lose heart- you'll cure it in the end!) Mark
  15. I've searched the forum and not come up with the answer, so apologies if I'm recapping... The attached pic seems to be the currently recognised wiring diagram for the inner brake light conversion. My question is: to illuminate the converted fog lamp, where have people taken the "Side lights 12volt supply" from? The options as I see them are: 1) for each brake light, take the 12V feed from the adjacent side (tail) light, but can the stop-and-tail-lamp-sensor (which is up-stream) handle the extra current drawn? 2) tap into the side-light 12V before the sensor 3) run a seperate 12V from the side-light fuse (pain in the :x: !)
  16. Happy bloody birthday! ;) Life's a bee-atch...
  17. Well I *hope* they're H3C as I've just ordered Superwhites myself! :D As far as the modification to H3 goes, search the forums a bit... there's plenty of material explaining what you have to do :)
  18. Well slowly anyway! Had another look under the bonnet at lunch and found the tiniest vacuum hose in the whole engine bay had also split (goes to a small box-sensor thingy- boost gauge sender?). Wandered round a couple of motor factors and eventually found a pipe small enough that fits! So that's cured the REALLY rough running, and I'm back to simply running rough now. :D
  19. Thanks for the offer mate :), but ChrisP also has a spare one he's said I can have. Cheers, Mark
  20.  Makes me furious. I hope you get your baby back safe and sound, and that who-ever nicked it gets a good kicking.
  21. Got my nice, shiny series 2 PTU :) . Was a bit short of time this weekend, so I didn't have a chance to re-route it. The thing is, I took off the driver's side intercooler pipe and having seen davido140's post on hesitation had a better look at it this time, only to find about 3 massive cracks extending just past the jubilee clip! Tried to shuffle the pipe around a bit so that the the crack was as far away from pressure as poss- drove fine yesterday, but this morning was running the roughest it's ever been, and boost gauge was reading almost atmospheric at idle. Wonder if ChrisP still has that spare pipe...
  22. Ooo I can't remember which was which now! TBH I think it should be on the *smaller* one, but have a look at the service manual (e.g. online) and just make sure that it's on the correct side. Regardless of that, you should find that the cable only fits comfortably on one of the cams.
  23. Rads and ICs are a compromise- they're designed to strike a balance between airflow and heat dissipation. Yes, fins impede airflow but they aid dissipation. The point here about mesh is that you're putting in additional resistance.
