  8. like i said, i didnt want to come across as criticising your driving, and i wasnt there so i dont know the road layout conditions etc, so i was trying to give an point of view that the investigating officer MAY take. At the end of the day everyones alive, there are bits of driving that sound like could have been improved on, but every one, and i mean EVERYONE makes mistakes in which they could have done something differently, but surely thats whats called being human. As long as we learn from our experiences and adapt what we do for future references, then all is good. I dont think we should be criticise marc, we've all made errors of judgement in the past, and i have no problem saying ive made some HUUUUGE errors in my life, but like i said be live and learn. Just because he puts a thread up telling us about an experience he's had doesnt mean we should slate him Anyway, ive said it once, and ill say it again, glad your ok mate. Nick
  9. who did the work on the waterpump?
  10. contact your council and they will have a list to which areas have IAM schools
  11. then it will have a grass verge at the very least, with enough room to get a vehicle out of the carrigeway enough so it doesnt cause an obstruction
  12. Marc, i have to agree with you on the majority of somepoints you made and disagree with some. Firstly as most of you know im a serving police officer, and dealing with major accidents is something i do on a daily basis, so im probably talking from the most experienced point of view. With regards to the driver of the fiesta, your right there is no reason why she couldnt have made it to the hard shoulder. On a national speed limit road, she would have been able to coast to the hard shoulder. The only possible "reasonable" explanation for being in lane 2 is that she herself had been involved in a collision herself resulting in her car being disabled in lane 2. As this hasnt been previously mentioned im going to guess there is no evidence to support this explanation. If she had simpley broken down there is NO reason why she could not have coasted to the hard shoulder, and the likelyhood the investigating officer will take this point of view as well i would suggest is very strong. I would probably suggest the fact she was parked in lane 2, regardless of hazard lights being on, is the major contributor to the cause of the collision. With regard to the Saab driver, i think better observation was required, even coming round a slight corner on a brow of a hill, i cant see any reason why at a substantial distance he wasnt able to establish that there was a car broken down in his lane, or at least suspect that there was a car in the carridgeway. I think the above point carrys over to marc. Personally if i saw a car with hazards on in the distance and im not 100% sure its on the hard shoulder, i would adjust my speed accordingly. BUT im and trained advanced police driver, so i probably drive alot differently to alot of you. The part i disagree with the most is the "there was nothing i could do". Now think logically about this, there was plenty that you could do. The basis of roadcraft is that you drive on the information you recieve and act accordingly. Dont get me wrong mate im not trying to put you down or criticise your driving or anything like that, im just trying to bring another angle to the conversation and give an insight to what the police will be thinking. im glad your ok and so is everyone, and at the end of the day i wasnt there and neither was anyone else on here, so im only commenting on the info i have, but only you and everyone else who was involved know what happened. Anyway all the best mate and if their is anything you want to ask me feel free nick
  13. cheers chaps for your help i left the computer on last night and run simultaneuos full system scans with the AVG and ad-aware. came back to it this morning and found that the AVG had picked up 1 trojan virus and with ad aware had picked up 247 critical programs!!!!! obviously removed them and all seems ok now cheers again nick
  14. Chaps and Chappettes Booted up the computer this evening as i couldnt sleep and the computer came up with a couple of critical system errors. First of all was a dreaded trojan virus (dont worry mods i wasnt online when i found out) Ive got both AD-AWARE Se and AVG on the computer and ive done complete scans with both, and removed all of the threats to the computer. Ive rebooted the computer and its still coming up with a non critical system error stating that there are still spyware programs effecting my computer. i cant think of anything else i could try to do to get rid of them PLEASE HELP cheers peeps nick
  15. he's lucky that he didnt have a passenger in the car!
  16. if he doesnt ring you let me know and ill speak to him. have you got a name of the customer or something so he knows who your on about
  17. ive texted ryan for you for him to get in touch with you nick
  18. i did it, and the difference in the sound the car made was immense!, it was not to much loader, but the change in tone of the exhaust was pheonominal. The performance difference was instantly noticeable, although i put new downpipes on as well, especially after i wound up the boost to 14.5psi. On 85k turbo's id be warey in all honesty, like has previously been stated, the cats will mask any seal probs you have. Id personally start saving up for new tubs as soon as you put them on, then when they do go it wont be a massive shock.
  19. chris how can you tell the difference from when your PVC's are knackered and when the rear seals on the tubs have gone? Is it a different colour smoke, or just a process of elimination? cheers bud nick
