Chaps and Chapettes As some will know im looking for another zed. Looking at the market there dont seem to be that many that match the criteria that ive set myself. Im not in a huge rush to get one, i just want to be as sensible as possible and find the illusive "right one" Im going to guess that a few peeps, exculding the traders, have found a car in jap land and imported it themself, loosely speaking. TBH i know sweet F A about what is involved in importing a car and the overall costs are, and was hoping someone would be able to give me an quick education in what is involved in importing a car, from the auction room to my arse being in the drivers seat. Also for the peeps who have imported a car, which companies would you recommend ie shipping companies/"importers" and auction houses. Advice and opinions all welcome cheerZ Nick

ill agree with alot of what has been said. I wish i'd never sold my zed and just kept it in storeage until i could have afforded to fix it, and never sold it. I suppose you could always say that you could get another one, but when youve put so much time into the one youve already got, the next one wont feel "the same" until youve hadto put the same amount of work into it. Without that work you will never be able to happily say, thats my car and i know every wingley qerk and obscurity that it has all the best what ever you decide, but id keep it!

This is getting more and more common on ebay, virtually any car you search for, there are about 2 fake ads for every 10 cars listed They really should be doing something about this!

Sorry to sound confused, but my old import didnt have a date of first registration in Jap Land, but it had a date of manufacture. Surely they mean that its going to be based on the year of manufacture not year of registration!?! If it is the case of "year of registration" then i prob wont buy a zed again, there is no way that i can afford to pay the same in tax as i would insurance. :rant: :( Is anyone able to clear this point up at all? :confused:

a very close friend of mine has had this done, his bro is a neuro surgeon in london. hes very very happy with it and has 20/20 vision again

have you checked your injector connectors and coilpacks yet but? they were always my first port of call when i got a missfire nick

It wouldnt suprise me, they probably have the same contact in Jap Land. Speak to Karlosg, hell be able to tell you how much KTC and Torque of Kieghley are thoroughly hated on the MLR. My personal opinion of the MLR on the other hand i shall save for another day

stay well away from torque of kieghley, went to have a look at a couple of evo's there, Every car there was a dog, 99% were obviously clocked, wouldnt trust them WHAT SO EVER

Dont have one anymore, sold mine 2 years ago today. Im riding around on a honda Fireblade nowadays, but am back in the market for a zed again, just trying to find the right one now

Cheers bud, i just dont want a nasty suprise like the last zed when i found out what year the car really was. you probably remember. I just want to make sure that im buying what i think im buying. I suppose the only way around that is to buy a UK model

i used to have one on my old 205gti. My understanding is that they are supposed to up fuel pressure. I came with a set of throttle bodies that i bought of someone and was supposed to be part of the kit TBH i never really noticed that difference with it on

Greg, not that i dont belive you bud, but if you look at picture 6 the back seats look velour to me. Something i have noticed on that photo, If you look at the door where the plastic cap is missing on the door trim. If i remember correctly thats where the bolt for the seatbelt is hidden on the series 1. Did the series 2 still have this little cap??

Would you believe the milage on an import? the only way i would is if it has been certificated. If it is a minter then maybe. And he probably will shift it for that price, but i think it will be to someone who doesnt know alot about zeds. Reading it, in the cold light of day, its got nothing more than a body kit wheels chip and exhaust. In my eyes, even if its a minter, with the current market for zeds its a bit overpriced. BUT thats only my opinion, something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it

yeah that made me laugh a bit as well. I thought as it says that its been to zed world someone may at least recognise it.

i agree thats what they SHOULD be worth, but we all know theyre not. If anyone one with a zed crashes one and god forbid its written of theyre is no way on this planet an insurance company is going to payout that sort of money.
