  1. I pretty sure standard tubs on a zed are T22's. Cant help you about the scooby tubs dont know if they would fit zed manifolds or the exit of the exhaust turbine would be in the correct place for downpipes to fit, why would you want to. With the cos of fabircation of the manifolds and down pipes to make them fit, you could Hybrid the standard ones with 360 roller bearings. Much better option if you ask me!
  2. So am i right in thinking that, in order to make the perfect blueprinted engine, you are relying on the parts you change, so for example, the big end bearing shells, to be perfectly made. SO theoretically you could say by one set of shells that have been made just after retooling, and other at the end of the tools life and its just pot luck which ones you up with off your supplier???
  3. thats what i ment to say, but couldnt get the right words out....
  4. To be honest, i would love to get into drifting. I used to make an effort to get down to some of the practice sessions and watch. But to be honest, my main goal is to get another TT. Unfortunatly finances dictate that motorsport is just beyond my reach for the foreseeable future. But its deffo something i would love to do. Wouldnt to bottom end of ANY zed find it hard work (in regard to the lubrication system) as the big ends dont seem to be the most robust out there?
  5. To test that the thermostat is working, start it up from cold, then put your hand on the bottom rad hose (the really long one). it should stay cold until the engine gets up to temp and then get warm very quickly. If it warms up slowly then the thermostat is stuck open. Im pretty sure this is the best way to test, but no doubt duffer will correct me if im wrong.
  6. Stu, to be honest fella, not youve got the car up and running again, personally i would change as many of the cooling system pipes ASAP. the vast majority i had with my zed was all caused by the cooling system (burst rad, burst both matrix hoses and the matrix itself, top rap hose). I know its more money to spend fella, but i think silicon/hard pipe replace ments is the way to go. These water pipes are getting so old now, most will fail at some point in the future, prob sooner rather than later. Just my opinion of course, but i would hate to see another zed off the road caused by overheating, especially as i learned the hard way! HTH nick
  7. mmmm. photoshop me thinks! very good tho
  8. What recommended... 160psi isnt it?
  9. 6 is down a little, but the rest are fine
  10. Sorry mate, but £55 plus vat is nothing! That pretty much the average garage will charge for labour. Infact thats not a bad price, I cant think of any official dealership that charges less than that, apart from the like of TATA and Peradua You wana try owning a ducati, official dealership rates for working on my old bike was £110 ph plus vat!
  11. A willingness to not only tell us what needs doing, but explain why or how at happened and help us understand the fix, Zed-Education as it were. I understand as a business, profit is the whole point and without it, there is no business. But if someone is willing to spend a few extra minutes with me explaining things, im more likely to come back and be a repeat customer and recommend to my friends. Knowledge is power, and if your not only well informed, but fully understand what is happening, it gives zed owners a better understanding of there cars, and is reassuring to here that your mechanic understands what is going on enough to explain it to the customer to the point where they understand what is happening, instead of just handing over a load of cash. And as previously said, QUALITY of work. I would rather pay top dollar for high standards of work than save a few quid and have the likelyhood of further problems down the line.
  12. I was 21 when i bought my first zed, sold it when i was 23. Am 25 now and looking for another

  16. I think the worst one i had was when i was 19. Had a fiat punto GT turbo and was following my mate, who was in a Nova 1.3 SR, back from BlackBush market going to his place. We were going down a twistie road that we both know really well and he was travelling at about 20 mph for some reason, and i was really impatient. I waited for a gap and went for it knowing my car was much faster, he saw me pull the overtake and gunned it. I managed to get past him no probs, but i was going way to fast into the next corner. I lost the back end onto the grass and managed to hold the skid, that was until the rear nearside tyre hit a paving slab protecting a drain cover, send me into a skid heading into oncoming traffic completely sideways. Then one of the front tyres was ripped off the rim which didnt help matters, infact the bare wheel gripped and tried to toss the car. It was pure luck that it didnt. The car continued to skid sideways down the road, and the back end hit a 2 day old, £55k Merc M class and smash every panel on the drivers side. That caused me to go into a spin, and i pretty much gave up trying to save it. I ended up hitting a tree at between 40 and 45 mph (police worked it out as a part of theyre prosecution case) head on. Unfortunatly for me it is the biggest tree down the whole road! and either side of the tree is a 7 foot ditch for flood prevention that would have tossed the car. The crash completely destroyed my right ankle which needed surgery and is know full of metal. The impact knocked me semi unconcious, and a fuel line ruptured setting the car on fire. Luckily an event called the Tempest Rally was on, and one of the paramedic and fire cars for the even was just round the corner, and he got my out of fairly quickly and put out the fire. I was the only person who was hurt in the accident. The damage to the merc came to £14,300. I still class myself as a very lucky boy. Ill try and find some photos of the car, i know i kept them somewhere.....

  18. Due to the suprisingly good attendance, considering the poor weather and short notice, and after lengthy talks with the land lord (Christian) whilst consuming LOTS of beer, there will now be a monthly Jap meet at the Phoenix Inn on the FIRST SUNDAY OF THE MONTH. So, onto the details: 3rd February from 4pm The Phoenix Inn London Road Phoenix Green Hartley Wintney Hampshire RG27 8RT Here is a link to the pubs web site, which has got a map to help with those not local to the area. http://www.phoenixinn.co.uk/index.html The pub has a long standing tradition of holding car club meets, ranging from the Model T owners club to the Holden Owners Club. Its kiddy friendly, and serves outstanding food. Any questions, dont hesitate to post on here, and I hope to see you there Nick
