This is the thing with america, insurance for these kids is nothing, you see so many of them driving nice motors at the age of 16 17. its ridiculous! You should only be able to drive performance once you shown you are capable of doing so. Liams spot on. it should be like bike licences, that you have to progress from small cc bikes to mid sized before you can jump on an R1 or FireBlade. There is just no substitute for experience. Saying that, the kid could have easily have been in an old shit box tyring to get it flat out and left the braking too late, and the result would have ended up the same

Yeah i know what you mean. My last one was a daily driver and it was sooooo expensive. Now ive got my 'Blade as my daily user and fingers crossed next weekend ill have a zed on the drive as well......... but keep that bit quiet, its a suprise!

Mate i know how you feel, ive been doing it for 4 years now, day in day out regardless of weather, and it does take away the love of biking for a bit, and then a nice twisty road on a sunny summers day brings it all back again!

I think ill end up doing is replacing the fluid, make sure the calipers are in full working order, cylinder brace and fit braided hoses for the time being, and when i have some spare cash go for the full brembo (front and rear) setup. Cheers for the answers peeps

Mate youve got a very similar injury to me, apart from i tore some of the ligament that joins the quadracep to the knee cap. not wanting to put a downer on it, but im still suffering 3 years on...... How long they said for recovery? mine was 7 months before i could walk without a limp and was able to jog again. 9 month till i could sprint.

So which does everyone think is the biggest flaw in the design then? Is is that the discs are just too small, or is it that the calipers are just not strong enough. What im trying to get at is, is it really worth doing a bigger disc conversion and keeping the standard calipers really worth it, considering that one of the biggest flaws is the standard caliper itself?

See i thought that the R32 had the same 4 pot setup as us, its only the very last R32 Vspec II that got the brembos (prior to the R33's etc obviously)..... But ive never heard R32 owners complaining overly about the brakes?

Peeps, Ive been looking around at brake upgrades, brembos and alike, which is all well and good. But it got me thinking..... Why are zed brakes so poor? What is the design flaw in them that makes them so ineffective in comparison the zed's rivals? Now is it that they are just getting old and the calipers could do with a re-build and the brake system needs emptying and renewing? Because looking at the face value of things, they got 4 pot calipers with a reasonable size discs, and yet some how my mates legacy could outbrake my old zed and he only had 2 pots and pissy little discs! So can anyone give a technical reason into why the brake setup is soooo POO! Nick

I take it your talking about what david cameron was wittering on about in the papers. Its completely untrue that we need a supervisors permission to stop and search people, thats complete and utter pony! If your a decent cop, if someone needs searching the grounds will be there, you just got to ask the right questions. The only thing i completely agree with is cutting down on the paperwork thats involved in doing our job, which is making criminals lives as difficult as possible!
